The time it takes to put it back in varies. I've dislocated my patella four times in my lifetime, all occurring in the year 2011. The first two times, i was able to push it in myself with no problem and continue with my life. The third time, it popped out and as I fell, it popped back in by itself, and left my knee swollen. the fourth time, it went out farther than it had before and it took about five minutes to get it back in.
13 dislocations later i can say, make sure you have someone slow the patella back into the femoral groove. This will reduce damage to the patella. The sudden movement will cause scars on the surface. The pain/problems will not show until much later in life.
I've had this happen 7 times on my right knee and 3 on my left. But gotta give the kid kudos, having someone else reduce it is the worst. I've reduced it myself 8 of the times, and it's a lot easier when you're in control of how it happens.
i just had this twice this year and many other times where it went back in , ! one at my birthday party, one at vball prac. and one just at home , ! it really suxs
I know how reducing feels... FUCK IT HURTS WHEN THEY GRAB IT AND REDUCE IT! but it tooked only 1,2 seconds but still... i discolated my own kneecap two times in same month! tooked 2-3 weeks and your leg doesnt hurt more...
dang... this just happened to me, except I pushed it back in myself when I fell to the ground. It feels like the most painful throb/ache seconds after it happens. Watching this video makes me cringe. At least you got some NOS!!!

Do you discharge them with a knee immobilizer and how long do you have them wear it? Do you do an XR after reduction?
