I think Contact represents how sometimes we never really get to the root of the problem in our relationships and so use se as a means of re-connecting nd feeling better again. This scene proves that ultimately sex is not a healer for hurting wounds hence it being bad and them ending the relationships because firstly, MiMi and Roger still had issues when it seemed like they resolved it nd secondly after the singing w/o you and sexing they still cussed!

I see Contact as using sex as a metophor for what's keeping these lovers apart, and the frustration of craving contact (sex) despite their conflicting emotional and/or physical battles, and the frustration of what's keeping them apart (hence, "latex is a lover bummer"), and in the end, how the conflicts with their relationships keep them apart ("It was bad for me, was it bad for you? It's over!")

At least, that's how I interpret it.
