I just got an 83 12a with 86xxx miles on it for my first car. I was wondering what kind of mods I can do to make it perform better. I replaced the spark plugs, alternator, fuel pump, starter and all the basics. What else?

where did you get the carb kit?

@EZFI There was an old rusted out FB sitting in someones driveway local. I popped the hood and this carb setup was on it and a Racing Beat header. I was like JACKPOT! The carb was in rough shape, I cleaned it up and rebuilt it. I just got lucky I guess.

That is really nice.. I just bought my 1st rx7. It's a 12a but the dang carb is flooded. I just replaced a few things but going to try a few tricks and see if j can get it going. Lovebthe white on black btw

Just wondering what you did remove all your vacuum hoses off the air cleaner? I have an 80 and dont need emmissions

@1SICKga I don't even remember. I did that a while ago. I just remember ripping it all out. It's easier if you add an after market carb like I did, cause they require almost none of the OEM vacuum hoses. I remember removing the air pump and adding a different belt. I forget the part number for the belt though. That's another cool emissions delete. I wish I could be of more help, but I just did what I saw was right. Can't really type it all out :(

@djahriman If you look at the temp gauge than you would see that the car isn't cold. And I barley revved it past 4K. That's not hard at all!

mine was just over 100.000ks when i got mine fully standard its a series 1.5 got the sunroof and the interior design is different to most. now its got a full jport in gud times gud times

If you're buying a manifold that is made for the 12A , than you should have no issues with clearance. What weber are you getting 45 IDA?

Pretty easy if you're mechanically incline. Just take off the old components and bolt on the new ones. You're also going to wanna upgrade your fuel pump with an after market unit, and fuel pressure regulator. I choose the Holley Red. Also went with larger 3/8ths fuel lines. Just a matter of bolting the manifold and carb on, and making some fuel line and throttle connections.

getting a bit worried though if the downdraught will clear my bonnet with the weber on...

First off, before you comment, LEARN HOW TO SPEAK/WRITE ENGLISH! Your sentences make no sense dude. But from the amount of swearing, I assume that your mad about something? I think youre saying that the engine was cold, and I didn't warm it up, but I did. See the temp gauge in the gauge cluster? I drove the car before making this video. The car wouldn't have idled like it is if it was a cold start.
