That is a special computer setting in the Tesla Roadster that allows higher performance from the battery and other components. Normally you are in "standard" mode which gives you access to about 80% of your potential. It is better for the long term health of the battery.
But you can take it into "performance mode" if you want to really see what it can do.
There is also "range mode" if you know you are doing an extra long trip. We used range mode when driving from Portland to Seattle 180 miles
Here is the video of me driving the Sport vs another Tesla. My personal best was 12.82 seconds. I was just doing a regular acceleration without holding the brake and loading the acceleration pedal. I tried that once and got a horrible time, so I stopped trying to be cute. I still managed 12.82 to 12.88 on a regular basis with approx 75% to 80% charge levels. Once I figure out how to properly launch, my times will come down.
