This actually wasn't that bad, granted I wish there was a little more focus on the monsters and there was some potential during scenes to push them from ok or good to great. I'm sure that Legendary Pictures saw potential in the director if they chose him to direct the new Godzilla film, all he needs is a bigger budget.

wow...some of these comments are just strange...what i got out of the film was giant monsters perhaps e.t. and they took over the world...nothing about iraq or any of that other hidden message shit...kinda like war of the worlds at nite and not so much blood...overall it was a good flick...i would ad it to my collection.

I luckily hadnt seen the trailer before seeing the film, and I liked it, if your looking for a 'war of worlds' steven speilburg type alien film then this isn't it. Its a lot slower paste and the aliens dont look very special, for the few seconds tht you do see them, but the fact that its a very low budget film and some of the views and most of the DOPs shooting ideas are beautiful - the camera angles and the light in the film are stunning! but the trailer is not like the film at all!!

I thought it was great for an indie film. I find most low budget indie films are unwatchable. I found this quite entertaining, the world was believable and the jeopardy of the characters was tangible... a great example of what a clever director can do with little money, a DSLR, After Effects, and 3DS MAX.
it's a love story chick flick with alien monsters. but the trailer looks like something good. there is almost no alien attacks and the ones that there are are rubbish. no gore. the girl is good but the guy is crap. girl meets boy. they don't like each other aliens attack and they fall in love after all.

The haters and sci-fi fans disappointed by the lack of alien scenes need to get a life and grow up. This is an amazing movie. It would be a great art house movie if it was made by a big studio. Okay, there are areas where the scenes are unlit and the effect is the same as we would get. But there aren't lighting crews in my life either! See it remember where you saw it.
We've been spoon-fed Hollywood crap for too long. I liked War Of The Worlds. It wasn't ruined by Tom Cruise, in fact he was quite good. Dakota Fanning was good as always, though much much better in Man On Fire and Hounddog. But the effects and the soundtrack told me when to be scared in War Of The Worlds. It treated me like an idiot, and I hate that. In Monsters the cues feel real, not milked. We live the moment with the players. And they're actors, not stars in a vehicle designed to make money.
This movie was great. Original and brilliant. Now days people go watch movies cheering "omg i hope dis has so much action and awesomes and no real plot to it or it would be stupid!". To enjoy this movie, you need to have an IQ at least over 7, and be ready to see something called a plot and character development.

wow...some of these comments are just strange...what i got out of the film was giant monsters perhaps e.t. and they took over the world...nothing about iraq or any of that other hidden message shit...kinda like war of the worlds at nite and not so much blood...overall it was a good flick...i would ad it to my collection.

the mexicans mention that the monsters actually only attack when they're bombed by the US reflecting the situation in Iraq and basically saying the US only make the Iraq situation worse. Scenes showing little girls dead on the floor after a bombing. It just all felt so familiar

I thought it was genius.When I saw this film I did not see a film about aliens. I saw a film about the Iraq war disguised as an alien film.

I luckily hadnt seen the trailer before seeing the film, and I liked it, if your looking for a 'war of worlds' steven speilburg type alien film then this isn't it. Its a lot slower paste and the aliens dont look very special, for the few seconds tht you do see them, but the fact that its a very low budget film and some of the views and most of the DOPs shooting ideas are beautiful - the camera angles and the light in the film are stunning! but the trailer is not like the film at all!!

I thought it was great for an indie film. I find most low budget indie films are unwatchable. I found this quite entertaining, the world was believable and the jeopardy of the characters was tangible... a great example of what a clever director can do with little money, a DSLR, After Effects, and 3DS MAX.

it's a love story chick flick with alien monsters. but the trailer looks like something good. there is almost no alien attacks and the ones that there are are rubbish. no gore. the girl is good but the guy is crap. girl meets boy. they don't like each other aliens attack and they fall in love after all.
if you think i ruined it for you, well how disappointed will you be if you waste your time only to have the movie ruin it for you instead?

The trailer is misleading but I find the whole movie interesting. Enough with aliens chasing humans, we have a lot of those already. This one is just perfect because it exposes what would be the closest thing that would happen if something like this will occur. IT'S THE MOST HUMAN OF ALL ALIEN-INVASION THEMED MOVIES!

The fucking film sucks, don't watch it. Stupid piece of shit, didn't the director and producers realised it was a piece of crap while they were filming it? they could have saved the shame everyone felt when they saw it. It's the first time ever I have actually lost interest in a movie and started playing solitaire.

As for the film, I'll keep an open mind until I see it, and given that it cost about the price of a car to produce, it should be worth seeing just for that. Hollywood's in the habit of churning out utter and complete crap for the brain-dead that c osts zillions, so I hope this makes it, just to show them up in Tinsel Town.

The haters and sci-fi fans disappointed by the lack of alien scenes need to get a life and grow up. This is an amazing movie. It would be a great art house movie if it was made by a big studio. But because it was shot using $8400 worth of off the shelf equipment... well, all I can say is it's impossible to tell. Okay, there are areas where the scenes are unlit and the effect is the same as we would get. But there aren't lighting crews in my life either! See it remember where you saw it.

We've been spoon-fed Hollywood crap for too long. I liked War Of The Worlds. It wasn't ruined by Tom Cruise, in fact he was quite good. Dakota Fanning was good as always, though much much better in Man On Fire and Hounddog. But the effects and the soundtrack told me when to be scared in War Of The Worlds. It treated me like an idiot, and I hate that. In Monsters the cues feel real, not milked. We live the moment with the players. And they're actors, not stars in a vehicle designed to make money.

This movie was great. Original and brilliant. Now days people go watch movies cheering "omg i hope dis has so much action and awesomes and no real plot to it or it would be stupid!". To enjoy this movie, you need to have an IQ at least over 7, and be ready to see something called a plot and character development.
