Will you idiots stop bickering over the thumb over bore axis vs. beer can grip. The former is ideal for controlling muzzle rise during a close range firefight or when one is imminent, the latter is for more relaxed moments or when providing long term cover when there are no known threats or engaging at long range etc. It literally takes a millisecond to transition from one grip to the other, and you girls are arguing about it like you're planning the seating for your wedding reception.
Lots of dudes disrespecting the work Chris Costa does in these comments. If you're better than he is, how come you don't have his job, huh? How come you don't have videos demonstrating YOUR skill? Oh, that's right... you're not as good as he is.
IM A 14 YEAR OLD. I KNOW ALL ABOUT GUNS. FOR EXAMPLE, THE AK74U M416. MY FAVORITE PERK IS SLIEGHT OF HAND AND DOUBLE TAP. IM SO SMART BUT EVERYONE THINKS IM STUPID. BUT EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THE M416 SUCKS CUZ IT IS A INDIAN GUN
Trust me all of you experts out their that are talking shit about how big of a target he is presenting, should post a video of yourself operating your weapons system under a body alarm or stress induced movement and show us how perfect your form is....That's what I thought Crickets
oh and fire postistions are a personal thing for different people. everyone has a different one they adopt and can adopt everytime muscle memory is key to adopting a comfortable, stable fire position
it doesnt matter if you present a larger area of the body to the enemy. As long as there is accurate fire going down on his position he is not going to stick his head. up. one foot on the ground, fire and movement.
The guy in the Beard needs a little more practice. Remember your training, " Move the rifle around your head, not your head around the rifle." When you're making your transitions from strong side to weak side, always keep your head still. Moving your head takes your eyes off the threat...Not saying it's easy, but that's how it needs to be done.
On what grounds? Speed. Lead on target first is better than fumbling to make your self smaller; plus that argument implies that better shooters are going to be smaller people. It may be true, but it isn't the primary thing I am thinking about when I personally am combat shooting, though it does come into my consideration. Cover is a better consideration in my opinion, though.
@pidevildog07 OMG you have no idea about how hard I laughed at that response, also I was having a drink at the time, so I now have a cola coloured monitor
And the fear of logic is reason and reason defies Chris costa, that is why he has stopped shooting and has instead open a chain of coffee shops the ponce.
Guys like him are the reason that you can "bling" out your AR platform rifle, because not only does he have all that extra stuff, but when it's on his rifle it actually does something.
i wish i had my own range i can do all the crazy stuffs. since i have to pay to go to the range and can't do all the crazy stuffs. other people might think i am another nuts case will be on the news lol.
The way he holds his rifle so low in the his shoulder, body bent over low, its a joke. Do that for a 10 hour patrol in your IBA, with all your other gear. Your back would hurt so much. Oh, and by the way PVT Costa, 1SG wants you to take the M240 on patrol this time. Don't forget to hold it all funky!
@micah66048 the point that is valid here is that you do get tired faster, no arguing that. All of the other things you mentioned are actually improved when using thumb over bore or by just having your grip be way out on the rifle..with the exception of reloads which is a moot point, you don't gain or lose time..transitions are actually drastically improved (again, based on physics). snapping the rifle from target to target with a forward grip is far superior to doing so with a beer can grip.
@popojoeexplode Training on a civilian range like this? no. Military training at Fort Knox, Fort Riley, Fort Lee, and Fort Leavenworth? yes. Quite a few thousand rounds of everything from non lethal 12ga to 40mm grenades.
@nick62040 i assume you're talking about their stance. first, that stance is the most accurate stance putting the recoil straight back into your shoulder with less horizontal drift. also, if you stand sideways, though presenting a slightly smaller target, if hit that bullet is going to go through a longer cross section of your body as opposed to the stance presented here. the difference between video games/hollywood and actually tactical military style shooting.
@deepseamk21 Sounds like you know alot about video games and hollyweird so I'll take your word for that. When I was a grunt, many years ago, we didn't have body armor so were taught to give enemy the least amount of target possible and make use of cover, not to stand front forward and give the bad guys a juicy target. Also, shooting front forward is not the most accurate. I don't care if you have full body armor, there's always something armor won't stop. Smaller is still smarter.
@nick62040 well, i guess thats the difference between a "grunt" and what i do. i could sit here and try to explain every pro and con to how he is shooting but no way is there enough room. there are lots of variables. obviously prone shooting ( 4 ex.) and other stances are more accurate than standing up and presents less target, but obvious statement is obvious....didn't think i had to spell it out for you. i merely was refering to the one stance in particular he was demonstrating.
@deepseamk21 It is obvious that he is demonstrating one stance in particular and it should be obvious to you that I nor anyone else needs you to spell it out for us. It is also obvious what you are up to, I didn't ask for you to explain anything to me in the first place, some people obviously didn't get enough attention from their mommy's when they are young, it is obvious this is your problem so you should leave the basement once in a while and ask her to make you a grilled cheese samitch.
@nick62040 Ah, so blading myself to a threat is safer? Because we all know exposing the less armored (or sometimes completely unarmored) side of your body and aligning both lungs, the heart and spine in one neat target in a thicker medium in which a round can fragment or tumble into increases our survivability in combat right?
@nick62040 That's how I was taught to shoot in the military. You want the front plate of your IBA to get hit you don't want a hit in the side where you have less protection and end up with a bullet to the liver or spleen.
@joe4678 No Paintball has nothing to do with it, I was referring to a real life scenario. Sure they're great techniques and they cover the flaws that regular training might have but when it comes down to you shooting someone in a firefight, you're not going to act like you're range shooting, you get my point of view?
@BruceJBCpaintball A lot of people misunderstand this training. It's purely weapons manipulation, not tactics. In combat, shooting well wins the day. You must train to shoot, as well as many other tasks.
@joe4678 I see your point, and take it under strong consideration but when it comes down to it, do you have time to apply certain moves or tactics? That's all I'm saying, or am trying to get at.
@InceptedGaming the forward grip was being used 100% of the time in this video....youre probably just not familiar with the method in which he was using it. google thumb break shooting

@KillaGorilla13 Over the bore physics yes. I totally agree. In combat? Not really.
1) Slows you down when going from low ready to aim.
2) You get tired much faster. Notice no one does over the bore on a SAW or 203.
3) Slows you down from right to left transitions.
4) Slows you down for mag changes.
ect...
