  • And I thought US weddings were getting ridiculous. Hahaha It seems like a great lot of fun, but it is rather silly. All weddings have become rather silly. :P

  • Japanese weddings seem like fun..

  • It's clinical? what? Not so sure about how you used that word...

  • bears are cute - the dolls are creepy

  • 5:46 Spider-Man!

  • Its so funny to see the clean, luxurious appearance of the places... then see the little "cute" teddys.

  • lols! this is all alike to weddings in the US

  • Just wondering how much an average wedding in japan would cost?

  • is this the normal way to marry? because it looks pretty expensive and exclusive. (but i liiiike it! :D)

  • wedding advice from a westerner(lol): you could look though all of these fancy books but going to a store or a craft shop can save you lots of money! for the gifts you give away. thats what my uncle and aunt did! good luck :)

  • Interesting. Accessories and costs. Keep it blissful in Japan.

  • Not to get personal, but how do you pay for it all?

  • With this vid I wish you showed your choices too! I liked the welcome cakes, cute! So with all this "stuff" (mildly put) I'm assuming the money you receive will be cancelled out by what you will spend on the gifts. (Judging by what I saw that is! lol!) Funny what you said at 2:20. (A suggestion if I may: Make (& keep) more friends-Elope! lol.) You do some very interesting, out of the ordinary vids! I think that's great!

  • Even though I know nothing about it, I think I'd rather have a traditional Shinto wedding, if I'd be living in Japan (and marrying a Japanese girl). It just seems more authentic, because this isn't a traditional western wedding, it's just a copy cat (cool copy, but still a copy).

  • @sauron1grenoble

Best to ask her what SHE prefers before making that decision, maybe?

    :-D

  • Yes of course, but I was talking about personal preference, that is, inside one's head.

It is obvious that a relationship requires taking decisions on which both sides agree, and that sometimes compromises are necessary! I never argued against that!

off-topic: it's nice to see you actually answer your comments!

  • @sauron1grenoble

I read them all but don't answer them all :-)

  • The bride is the leading actor in the ceremony,

sauron1grenoble. So, a smart bridegroom should never have his own idea in his wedding. It's been always this way, and it is true everywhere on the globe.

  • Well even if his opinion is less important then her's, and he leaves most of the decisions to her, the bride is still not getting married with her self, she is getting married with the groom, so should he not have any idea whatsoever?

  • Its interesting that the wedding signs are in English.

  • @Colortiniz

Yeah, English is cool.. and people understand the board without understanding English.. so they use it..

All important info is in Japanese.

Radio and TV are the same.

"Here is the weather. Ashita no tenki wa..."

  • I know language dilution has been an issue, especially in Europe. I guess that's not an issue in Japan.

  • @Colortiniz

Japanese is getting polluted with heaps of unnecessary English (bad English too).

Lots of older people hate it - and I agree with them.

  • in japan, is it mostly man or woman that makes the decisions about all these things?

  • It varies depending on the couple.

But I think smart dudes in any country let the girl make the choices about wedding stuff :-D

  • kawaii!

  • Weddings seem to be a giant hassle everywhere in the world! So much money spent for one celebration.

  • thanks for sharing! very interesting...and expensive. Is like the guest are going to a store, not a wedding :S How did they come up whit this wedding system?

  • I've recently become a fan of your videos and I was just wondering if you were going to show any of the wedding or parts of it and put it up on YouTube. I realize it could be a hassle but just wondering.

Congratulations and hope all goes well!

  • Is your fiancee japanese or???

  • Yes.

  • I know they did things like this, so I hope your wallet can survive the wedding.

  • It seems the guessed pay for coming to your wedding because it costs you so much per guest, with gifts. If they dropped the gifts, than i think it would be more enjoyable and less stress money wise for guests and bride/groom.

  • How much does an average wedding like this cost in japan?

I think one should just elope.

  • its like a wedding but more complicated lol.

  • and already know wich doll ur gonna take:P?

  • yeah.. some other ones :-)

  • kay grats:D

  • I'd recommend the beef... who doesn't love beef ^^

    BEEF!

  • yes, BEEF is great :-)

  • best wishes to you man.

  • Thanks!

  • how much money does an average wedding cost in japan?

my mom is getting married on dec. 26 in tennessee. and its about 8000$ for everything.

  • I dont know average..

but the average of what I have seen would be about $25,000.

  • I wish U the Best in Yours marriage .. and the future . Gratulation.

  • Thank you.

  • Looks complicated, but fun. Was there any good japanglish in any of those brochures?

  • Not really... but coming soon "rape tarte" !!

  • Hello wedding, martarnae yen hahaha ; )

They're pretty full on in Japan, but you'll have a great day. At the reception you'll get bombarded with people giving you drinks, as per custom. They'll probably even give you a bucket under the table so you can spit out after you've kumpai'ed with someone hahaha

  • Yeah, a bucket...

imagine doing that in Oz !!

  • Thats very amazing and would eat at my wallet...

  • That is expensive but is indeed verry elagant to marry in japan, you know that you wedding will be remembered for a long time!

  • Welcome dollがとてもかわいい!!!!

  • holy cow why would any one spend so much money on some event that will last for 3 hours good luck with the bill I hope every thing goes right

  • a fair question!!

  • What a waste of money for everyone. :P

  • yep :-)

  • I see now, why Japanese guys are reluctant to get married......

  • Sure is one reason!!

  • I would feel a real weird sitting close to my Boss...

Pretty expensive to get married in Japan.

  • wow, it looks really expensive. x_x

  • Man, there's so much to choose from. That would take forever :\

Good luck with all your planning, and keep up the good videos :]

  • The wedding planners in Japan are takaiiiiii!!!

  • This is how it's done.

  • The rice throwing isn't nice to birds, well it's horrible for them because if a bird eats uncooked rice they'll die.

    =/

  • No they don't, go look it up.

Great stuff as always though, keep it up. Gotta be costing an arm and a leg though! I'm also wondering about NodnarbRS' question.

  • wiki answers: "The rice will expand in the body, but it is usually not enough to cause any problems. However, sometimes the rice will cause an impactation in the crop or the stomach which will eventually kill the bird."

    i looked, i found.

  • Is there any tradition of the bride's family picking up the tab or do you get it all to yourself?

  • The welcome cake is kinda cool. You have to give people gifts......thats B.S,give them a card saying thankyou.I'm mean you're paying for the food, the service, the after wedding party ,ect. They should be thankful their havingod and good time.

  • Sorry, but i couldn't help myself not to go"kawaiiiiiii!!!" over the bears at 2:30. xD

Ok, there's just to much cuteness for you to handle, isn't it? :P All of them look like toys for kids to me, not for a wedding ceremony.

...and, of course, you can never have enough spoons...4:00 ;)

  • Getting merried in Japan sure is expensive. :)))

  • way too much trouble.

I am not marraige material, dont even believe in its worth, but I am a minimalist so if i ever got stuck having one, it would have to be very simple and practical.

But honestly, isnt the type of wedding your looking at more extravagant then the average christian wedding in america?

I hope so, this is too much to be normal, lol

  • .... Damn!!! I bet a Divorce has gotta be a real pain in the ass !!!

  • HAHAA thats funny, like, at 3:32 you were filming those bears, and then you go up the page and film the babies and say "couple of bears" hahaha xD as if you meant them hahahaha ^^

  • Really interesting stuff. Always 5*****

  • Thanks!

  • so bloody commercial... I hate it.

  • The idea of the welcome cake with presents is so cute! It's lovely decoration, and the towels and welcome dolls are adorable! But I can see how it could be really expensive O__O

Thank you for doing this video!

  • Yes.. more cute than you could wish for :-)

More wedding stuff videos coming :-)

    Thank you for watching!

  • At Yours wedding day if I give u 1000$ how much u gonna give me back ?

  • $1,000 would be bad luck.

$900 or $1,000 would be better..

you would get maybe a $150 present and a $200 meal.

Going to weddings is not profitable.

    Neither is having them!

  • 666 dollars... maybe?

Or 1337 if one of thems are computer otaku

  • Thank goodness I'm not going to marry anyone! :D

Too much hassle, too much hassle... Thanks for the info though. And I gasped when I saw all those stuff at the beginning. :D

  • nice vid, even though you must have a headache right now I'll ask you, when you say dollars, are you referring to US dollars or Australian dollars?

    Thanks

  • The numbers I am using are so rough I figure you can use either and have a rough idea :-)

  • I do love giving gifts but since i am a cheapskate you can`t expect much ;p

  • how common is it for people just to do a quick cheap las vegas quality wedding?

  • Some people just get married at city hall.. but not many..

  • random question but: did you ever have food posion in japan?

  • I never have.

They are pretty careful with food here..

  • Ah really ;o So the chance to get food posion is veeery small? I really love japan and want to go there , but since i have a fobia for puking im kinda scared. xD Scared for getting food poison

  • Less chance here than most other places, I am guessing.

  • wow, so much choices!

A wedding sure is a big event :O

  • One in Japan sure is!

And we have only just got started!

  • Oh my. I not only would not want such an elaborate wedding but at $300 a pop, I would never go to one. Are you sure you need this (possibly evil) wedding planner?

  • Yeah.. this place is pretty reasonable...

probably only all up cost about $25,000.....

another one we looked at was $40,000 just to be there + everything else on top!

The wedding planner is OK but the company she works for sure know how to milk the customers!!

  • Ok, company, not planner. We didn't use a planner for our very small wedding. Got a used car with the $ left over. Do you really need a company to do your wedding?

When it came to dealing with the funeral home for my husband we got the brochure tx. Balloons, mementos. They frowned when they found out I was turning it all down.

  • yeah... for the reasons I mentioned in the first video, I will go with the flow on this..

But you are right.. the company charge 10 times more for everything than it really costs...

The photographer is 12,000 yen a photo!!

    (for two prints!)

  • There, see, I skipped the first one. Poor guy. At least choose what you really want to see on your welcome table. For instance, dressed bears...?

  • We are using a pair of cute characters we already have in the house that mean something to us..

their clothes are being made now....

    dear oh dear...

  • Bwahahaha!

  • "Every time there's a wedding, people don't really want to get invited."

    That made me laugh. :D

  • Funny.. but true!

When a wedding invitation turns up it is like:

    "oh...... great...."

  • lol really? so when u invite people do you feel intrusive or feel like your bothering them?

  • Japan has a thing called "giri" which means obligation..

we are obliged to invite certain people and they know it.. so that is cool.

Also, it is rude not to invite certain people...

  • ^_^

  • how cute ^^

  • Yes... no shortage of cute :-)

  • awesome video ...i got alot to learn about Japan TY for the vid
