Dean Martin had a great variety show. Once upon a time comedians were professionals with talent, grace and a respect for their audience and their craft. Do you remember when comedians were funny?
Too bad they don't make TV like this anymore, such a wasteland these days. I ran a studio camera at KSTP-TV in St. Paul, MN when "Twin Cities Today" was a live show and Mr. Brooks was a guest once. He was a very nice man who loved people. PC is nothing to me, I violate it often. If someone is offended, I am sorry only to a point, it is their problem, not mine, and yes, I still laugh when people call me a Pollock. Anyone who cannot laugh at themselves once in a while is too serious for me.
this is as funny as anythg i have ever seen i laugh everytime esp the bit he says u might know me from television and brooks says "oh no ive never been on television" classic lol and i luv the way dean keeps losing it u can see he is enjoyn it as much as every1 else!!!
So classic. My earliest memory of him was when he was a guest of Monday Night Football, explaining NFL playoff scenarios. There were like 6 teams in each conference that were in the hunt, and it was very complex. "The Colts get in, if they win their last two games, or if they win one and the Chargers lose, the Bengals lose, or the Raiders, Steelers and Browns tie. Now if they lose both games..." You could imagine how flustered he was describing the ins and out of a bunch of crazy playoff combos.
@gbj11 Totally agree. You just don't see this kind of acting anymore.... I remember laughing like hell as a kid at Foster Brooks. Thanks goodness for Youtube.
Luv how they clowned airline pilots for being the drunks they are from way back then. I have never had a utube video crack me up so much. IT WAS AWESOME!!!
I heard that Dean never attended the rehearsals, so when he got into a sketch he never knew what was going to happen. Dean's reactions were real and spontanious.
He and Jackie Gleason had the uncanny ability to read through a script once and then deliver a spot-on performance afterward. This was part of their hidden brilliance.
Oh My God-Why can't humor be this spontaneous and stupid-funny anymore?? Granted Foster Brooks was stone sober when he did this shit, but we could see the funny in the drunk act!!???

I grew up watching Dean Martin and I love this clip. I wish we had more comedy like this today. Of course, society is too easily offended today. Thanks for posting this clip!
