I believe that there is some contemporary footage mixed in with the 1972 footage. Note the colorful Western clothing worn by the group of men walking in a line in the beginning, for example.
This is NICE! Is this the film made by Italian communist director Antollino or something? He wanted to depict realism, the honest and ancient China. Mao's wife just wanted propaganda about army, industry, praise to the communist party, so she threw him out of the country. And criticize his work as a film about ruins and poor people, LOL.
well westerners just want to put us inside some museum and marvel at us like relics. Chinese need to give ourselves a vision to move forward. So, Jiangqin was right!
