  • Don't worry African brothers. The west will not be able to destroy African countries for long. Their oppressive actions in the world stage will be curbed when China/India and their satellites, with more than half the world's population, matches their military might and surpases them. I just hope Iran, Venezuela, Pakistan and Cuba survive till then. Too late for Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Palestine. The west is lucky that most of the world's population are pacifists.

  • i wonder how much is he being paid to say these things, 2000 films a year, "incredible film industry" who cares when their all shlock.ive seen some of them on youtube, they look like something a bunch of teens make for a class project.make them go film school to learn basic camera work, sound work, get actors who actually know how to act.make them study real movies so they can an idea how a shot should be set up.just one really good movie can make more money than all of the junk their making now.

  • @bilden2 well said!

  • Wow!!! Thanks for responding to my comment. I didn't know about the likeness in culture between the different countries. I'm very passionate about what I do and film industry. Thank you so very much for continuing to inspire me. I love the way you say "We" when referring to us Africans. It would be an honor to meet, learn from you and possibly work with you some day in the near future. Have a successful day. As always, stand strong and stay well.

  • Well done Franco. love the passion mate!

  • I love this video by Franco Sacchi. It very inspirational. I am a filmmaker & a Nigerian American. I traveled to Abuja Nigeria Dec 2010 & shot my film. I was quite impressed with the quality & attitude of industry professionals there. Nollywood is really an industry. I love it! NOLLYWOOD is here to stay. My movie is a political/social problem action drama currently in post production. All of my crew & talents came from Nollywood. 100+ jobs were created by me & my company TopLine].

  • @filmmakersusan I love this attitude. We are so quick to condemn our own. Our stories must be told by us in our languages/accents/circumstances/costumes everything. We are the only race in the world that have abandoned our culture, food, clothing etc to copy others in the name of sophistication. About time we respected our own and celebrate our similarities. A marriage ceremony in Nigeria Igbo community is the same as the Kikuyu of Kenya, the Baganda of Uganda and the Tutsi of Rwanda.

  • 4 THOSE WHO ARE NOT PROUD OF THERE OWN COUNTRY CAN NOT BE PROUD OF ANOTHER MAN COUNTRY AND 4 THOSE WHO CAN NOT APPRECIATE THE GROWTH OF THERE COUNTRY SHOULD STOP WRITING STUPID THINGS ABOUT NIGERIA..IF U THINK THEY ARE NOT TRYING,,U SHOULD GO AND DO BETTER BUT IF U CANT PLEASE KEEP UR WORDS TO UR SELF.GOD BLESS NIGERIA

  • The credit for the success of Nollywood is meant to go to the business men that decided to invest in it , they believed in it to the extent of risking their own money to distribute them across the whole country....its a pity they are being blamed for nothing, the quality and Talent can only be improved upon by systematic planning of the Government or Regulatory bodies, if there are incentives for the business man to recover his investment with interest, he would be willing to invest more money..

  • This is cool, am glad am a Nigerian, at last someone came up with good story about Nigeria....God bless you. Bbc shld learn from dis and stop showing the bad sides of my country.

  • @TheInvaderBN

Watch Men at Work - that is a top level movie with top level acting - completely shot in Nigeria. As for sequels - blame Hollywood for it's example. At least Nollywood sequels are usually as good as the first film. For me, they are therapeutic. As for religion - don't want it either. But a good film about Christ like living - from POGEM, Mount Zion etc - bring it on any day.

  • see sanga entertainment

  • Hollywood has become just for the elites. But with Nollywood like was said, its for he grassroots. A person shouldn't have 2 sell their soul just to do something that they enjoy doing.

  • so? "maliwood" flopped.

Ghanaian films are knock offs off Nigerian ones.

  • Or maybe it takes someone on the outside to appreciate what those who are close to it don't or cannot see.

  • are you talking about nigeria or africa. do you think they are so poor

  • are u kidding

  • Yes, I'm kidding. Sheesh. Some people have NO sense of humour!

  • The UNITED NATIONS OFFICE have been authorized by United States and the governing board of central bank of NIGERIA and also the government of England to investigate the unnecessary delay of your payment, and approve your claims for payment if certified as Genuine. During the course of our investigation, we discovered with dismay that your payment has been unnecessarily Delayed by corrupt officials of Bank who were Trying to divert your money into their private accounts.

    just sayin

  • Thank you for this video.

Today is a day for the truth about reality amd perception.

The current worldwide financial meltdown has burst a lot of bubbles and illusions.

"Nollywood" is right on time for the world.

I am setting up for the same scenerio in the US The REEL "Dollywood" in Metro Detroit and Denver.

Live Life - "For The Love of It!"

    Peace

  • instead of belittling others work. Why don't you Maliwood act like Ghanaians and try and bring your work up.

  • Oh shut up. I hate when an African will try to belittle others work just to pull thier own up (that's sad and low) and i havewatched films from Mali and Senegal unless they have two different film industry, based on what i watched it's different from what you described.

And by the way, Nigerian film industry usually do a film about Romance(90% of Nigerian film is about romance) including the upcoming Ghanaian film is usually Romance so your way off in what you claimed.

  • Sounds like the Pakistani film industry.

But maybe, like many industries, Nollywood must make many mistakes before it finally realizes what it needs to do to rectify the situation?

  • I think the point here is that this is just the start, so what if they are not well produced. The whole point of them is tell a story, to educate the peopleof Nigeria. Imagine if you were a Nigerian, you'd be a bit fed up of watching American TV. Good for them doing their own thing. I'm now aware of this, so that is one person who think's its worth it.

  • Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I feel the same way. So you are not alone

  • stop whining,who care`s?.

  • To be a writer, you need a pen and paper.

To be a filmmaker, you need a camera and disk.

    and ... some talent.

  • Quantity =/= Quality

I would rather see one quality well written Nigerian film that see 20 shitty ones.

  • yes i am Nigerian but i totally agree with your opinion. Quantity=/=quality. We Nigerians have become deeply saddened by the invasion of money-minded, talentless crooks into our movie industry. In the early days, the movies were of really good quality but then things took a turn for the worse and have not recovered ever since. Now what is being produced is recycled garbage. We hope that sanity is restored soon so that the real talents can come back.

  • Watch widow. The best and a real life movie from Nollywood. i cried throughout that movie.

  • very true, but theres a HUGE market for the shitty ones lol, nigerians actually like that shit. Me, im american by birth but grew up in both places for a fairly equal amount of time and i can stand shitty nigerian movies but the good ones like Across the Niger as absolutely amazing too me.

I think the quality aspect needs to be stepped up and the quantity stepped down.

  • I dont think they're being made for good quality recreation or coherent plots but just for money really

  • "I dont think they're being made for good quality recreation or coherent plots but just for money really"

and how would that be is that any different then how hollywood operates. They make movies all the time that are bad quality and just for making money.

  • exactly. nollywood deserves every cent! hollywood sucks anyway i hate their films. predictable, expensive, boring.

  • Well duh! It's an industry. That's what industries do. Make money. Now on that note them getting out there and doing it instead of talking about it teaches them more about filmmaking.

  • hi, invader.

thank you, it is an interesting perspective. the thing is that they said themselves that the quality "will come", so they seem honest about it. I have no idea about it, but the good thing is their massive production. I mean, is it true they are employing a lot of people? If so, it should be a good thing for local communities, bringing money without exploiting natural resources. I'd like to hear further comments dd

    cheers.

  • Does anybody have good titles?

  • emmmm i stopped watching them long ago as they became more garbage, but i think i can still remeber Mortal Inheritance, Igodo, etc. Basically, just check out the old ones with actors like Justus Esiri, Peter Edochie, Richard Mofe Damijo, Saint Obi, Zack Orji, and other mature actors. They are more likely to be good stuff than the shitty romance ones.

  • thx :)

  • and what does this tell us?

DVDs should be cheaper in the rich countries as well.

  • Doesn't Nollywood use VCD's?

  • alot more DVDs these days actually

  • HAHA "You can watch you Robocop in your glass houses... we are making films for the masses"

    massive paraphrasing obviously...

  • I had no idea the Nigerians are making movies like crazy.

This is so god damn cool! it just proves that you can do what you want, and others can benefit from it.

More people should do stuff like this. More people should just go for it!

  • when did this start?

  • as long as Helen Ukpabio isn't making films I'm happy

  • @Juanitotrucupey ahahahahahahaaa!!!!!xD

  • nigeria got a filmindustry? o.o"

  • ignorant moron!

    :)

  • lol yeah cool huh!

  • @happosai21 no,actually we live on trees eating bananas like monkeys.

What you're seeing is a lie.
