For everyone commenting on Elton "stealing songs", you dont know whats going on. He doesnt write the lyrics, his writing partner Bernie Taupin writes them then Elton goes off on his own writing the music.
goodbye elton john...glad i never knew you at all...it seems your about the gayest....strangest man of all...it seems to me you lived your life with a pickle up your hole...never knowing when to go the dr to have it removed and finally sold...to all these fans (all 1,200 of them) who would probably pay dough for it....yuck
@level6statedept You mean the 37 million people who bought this one song making it the top selling single in the US and UK? Or are you talking the other 250 million people who bought his albums? I guess third in the Billboards 100 artists of all time doesn't really mean anything. Also this song was asked by the Jackson Family to open the MJ funeral, since you seem to be a fan of him.
So I see you changed the words to this song like you stole the song from Marina Tiny Dancer
Hey Elton remember 33 years ago when Marina S sent you a poem called BLUE JEAN BABY HER TITLE ON CB AND SHE HAD THE WORDS DANCING IN THE SAND; THANKS FOR NOT ACKNOWLEDGING HER AND PAYING ZIPP ALL. She was 17 and sent you this poem
@orlandorays i'm 21 and my mom's greatest hits record showed me the way to the original from the goodbye yellow brick road album, so i suppose i'm one of the lucky ones :)
right? the Billy Graham evangelical pastor to preach about jesus marilyn monroe and when finished she said I need no Jesus and one week after she died?
Love All versions of this song, especially the one in dedication to princess Diana. This version in particular was recorded in 1986, and was released as a single in 87. Both this video and version of the song you are hearing, were what we heard on the radio in the mid to later 80's. It went to the top 10 at that time.
Despite the difference in his voice, this concert is one of my favorite Elton John performances ever. Perhaps he was so passionate because of the fear that after his throat surgery, he may never be able to sing again. The orchestra is a great addition. I saw him at Radio City in 2004 with the orchestra. It was awesome!
A pompadour - it's funny that you should say he's a King, since in the middle ages, Kings and other royalty wore huge, glamorous wigs - they were so expensive that the bigger your wig, the more wealthy you were perceived as being.
Reginald Dwight was once asked his take ON the "perfect song"........his cliched reply was not agreeable with me, however THIS SONG, yes! his Candle-in-th......ORIGINAL : is THE PERFECT SONG in eyes-mine & ears-mine & soul-mine.... despite His sad homosexuality, Reginald Dwight still created THE PERFECT SONG in his tribute to that manic depressive VICTIM, not vixen, Norma Jeane Mortenson Baker............ poignant, & 7 stars..... the PERFECT SONG, if ever there was one... THANK YOU, reginald!
Today I dreamed of a Pig God with really sharp teeth, it seemed to be part of my shadow so I'm detatching my shadow and giving it to Elton John and to 'Pulbah Island in Australia', for the world and for the lost boys. For King and Country, I thank you Mr. John.
- The human race did evolve from 4 legged creatures similar to the pig, OK!
- There was a technological revolution on another planet that we must all better, and the dinosaurs weren't cared for greatly.
Well, that's what I mean, we can't take any risks with our analysis, with our rationing of words, because it's not about proving that thought wrong, it's about proving to be right enough that we can rise above the thought of being wrong.
You're rght in giving it the thumbs down, because that step of evolution is finished with, it has Knighthood; next on the list is the tree climbing Ape, and then there's the Caveman that needs to be proved to be beautiful amongst the greatness of Human Evolution. Finally man shall be exhaulted as the Perfect Exemplar Race.
this is a true thing that happens! its not a chain letter! its kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F1 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo wierd!
My favorite album of the 80's was this one.. Instant classic from the first time it was aired. Despite his throat problems he gave a hell of a performance.
Most beautiful I've ver heard of Elton. Pain on his throat on every note he sings and you shall never hear it again... A legend is born, without dying.
At 1.18 the crowd start cheering as the orchestra light candles. Elton obviously was unaware as his face looks a picture of surprise. Brill song, nearly as good as the greatest discovery from the same concert
I used to run to this song in the morning as I was losing weight for wrestling. I used to hear Elton John's voice and piano refrain as I saw the sun come up over the hill as I was running. I was just a kid, and had all those emotions and ambitions wrapped up inside myself still. It was a precious time I will never forget.
I concur with the previous comment - it's hard to believe that this version is already and oldie!! I enjoy listening to it time and time again. The 80's where movies and music were for everyone - can it ever happen again???
When she really died,he changed the song from "goodbye Norma Jean" to "goodbye British rose" this song is sad! makes me thik about the joy we must have to life :)
This is by far the best version of this song he has ever played
