I remember thinking that there was someone nearby playing the piano...in the middle of the night...kept me on my toes more than usual the whole time haha
This Game isn´t just a game... it´s a piece of art. emotions and game match perfectly.. Bravo to the artists, they know how to deliver their own little fantasy-worlds.. if you play it, you feel it. RARE stuff.
i absolutely adore this game! And this part of the soundtrack just gets in my head.. it's got such a mournful tone to it that reflects the whole situation with the widow. i think it's awesome basically :)
When asked about scary levels, 'Shalebridge Cradle' is alway in the Top 3. I found this mission extremely unsettling, too. The music makes most of the amosphere, for me it thickened until I ascended the stairs to the chamber in the attic. Wow, that was creepy...
@Xerosch Holy shit YES. I had to take a break from this game. The pounding on the other side of the door in the attic/tower made me so scared. I couldn't open the door for like 20 minutes, just wandered around listening to the ominous banging and hoping there would be a way to avoid opening this door.
Marvelous!Just turned this song on..and flashback's kicked in my head...:) that ghost themed piano riff at 1:30 ...Dum Dum... -.- atmosphere is breath taking ;o
The music for Overlook made the whole place just feel frozen and off somehow, it alone was strangely calming and haunting at the same time. The whole mission was just sad though, what with her having lost it and her family members trying to rob her blind.
Love this series and this music! Not happy that Eric Brosius won't be back for the 4th.
Allmost magical, such art makes you belive in miracles, and dark creatures lurking in the dark, or it's the woobly creatures of your mind's walls. This is what makes life so interesting somehow, full of sense. It is very hard to explain in words...
OH MY GOD!! I just love this game so much! And this music.. i just wanna die!! okay no, but I want to be in that world.. (eventhough its scary :P) and see what happens next!
this is my favorite mission in the whole game.. unbelievably realistic and the soundtrack is so undescribeable ... it makes you feel in a way you actually cant believe its happening ... its like you are in the manor, not garret.. simply amazing ...
This track makes me... sad, this piano is so depressive and kinda makes me wanna jump off those cliffs. Amaizing and creepy. Mr. Brosius is genious and realy crazy with true meaning.
Quite an emotional level in my opinion (save from Shalebridge Cradle). I always enjoy the bitter dramatic irony of the plot, not only in the sadness of the widows' loss of her devote husband, but also the conspiracy that is brewing around the poor woman. That's why I like to gain entry to the mansion by the far balcony instead of the trap floor, just to hear the conversation of between the city-watch-officer-couple; not to mention always try to bring a bottle of wine to the widow ^_^.
I remember the first time I played thief I...it was a ten years ago or so...I "fell in love" with this game...played all three thief games a million times from the beginning to the end never getting tired...the best game I've ever played....beautiful soundtrack too...especially the "keeper" theme...beautiful mystic atmosphere....

Oh, man that song is so relaxing... I would like to hear it when it rains outside... Beautiful piece of music... reminds me all of the Thief atmosphere and gameplay inside that mansion while it was raining outside.. Just amazing....
Kind of makes you sad that the widow thinks her husband died by a fight or something but really he's a zombie, not the best thing to tell a mourning widow, great soundtrack and pics by the way, both this soundtrack and the Shalebridge cradle are absolutely stunning!
i feel like not completing this level so i can explore around, a fine theme for it.
this game has been by far the best one i've ever played. not to talk about the atmosphere that it pulls me into and manipulates my mood and the way the story goes to the end.
the game can change environment and still not break the plot.
PS:i actually felt some fear when i dind't want the hag to find me on the end.
thx for uploading by the way its been like ages sinsce i havnt heard this soundtrax.
This game is steampunk at it's finest. It seemed at tad repetitive at the end, going back and forth from South Quarter to Old Quarter and back, but very good for its genre.
True, true... Thief is one of the most convincing (and earliest) steampunk-themed games. Not to mention a terrific stealth game in it's own right... :-)
Thief 'elitist' only like 1 & 2. I loved this game and play it about once a year. The music, level design and ambiance were spot on. Seeing how good the new Deus Ex game is, I have hope for the 4th Thief game as well ( same production team )
I was 10 years old when I starded play thief one. I remember that after playing the game I tryed to do my own maps on my house and wear a dark blanket on me. thanks for this mystical music
Egh, Garrett isn't exactly young, at least I assume not, by the official artwork and his 3d render..
Either that or he's so world weary that his face is lined with stress wrinkles and his eyes are bagged with wear..
At any rate, he looks like a man in his late 30s or early 40s..
And judging by the way "the cities" townspeople live and the environment in which they dwell, that's at the end of your life expectancy.. But Garret can probably sneak past death, seeing as he's a master thief..
The setting seems to be somewhere around the renaissance, if you were to compare it to anywhere in mankind's history. Technology was far enough that basic medicine was being used, but medical science was still dragging it's knuckles.
Some of the conversations you hear, throughout the game, involve folks talking about things like "taking no baths" to improve their health, and so on.
These are signs of the times when folks did not typically live to be very old, by today's standards.
Well, of course, though we mustn't forget it's a fantasy pastiche of several historical eras. Overall life expectancy has been pretty low for most of human history and it grew only slowly until cca the 19.-th century (thanks to several industrial revolutions and rapidly modernising healthcare).
I always just assumed he was in his 20's in the first game, late 20's/early 30's by the second, late/mid 30's by the third. The art and renders of him tend to have mixed opinions of him. Some show him as a homely young man, others a grizzled old man...yeah. Hard to judge.
