It's hard to not be goal orientated if you are using mindfulness to achieve a goal in the long run I wonder if that idea in the back of the mind is enough to stop mindfulness from working
The wording and practices are different from Dr. Zin's mindfulness, but deep down, they all have the philosophy of why do you care what you think. Dr. Guo gets inspired from Buddhism, Taoism... And put them into verbal practice which is fantastic for those lack the least necessary emotion regulation.
I am thinking of creating a google doc simply because I can't explain everything here. He said that all problem can simplify to fear. For example, anxiety is mild long lasting fear, jealousy is fear of losing something to someone. All bad feelings are fear of those feeling, if you are not afraid of being anxious, depressed then you don't suffer from it. Even if you do suffer from it, you don't fear suffering.
I am currently practicing mindful meditation on a daily basis for a few weeks and find it very difficult. I suffer from anxiety and depression and find his teachings and philosophies very intriguing and I believe they can assist me. I am having difficulty separating the practice from the goals or results I want and expect. Does anyone else practice as per his instruction/philosophy.
@notruth1984 You are on the right stuff.I was in depression too.At the beginning, mindfulness practice made me feel like HELL.It intensified all the terrible feeling because I was more aware of it.But I also realized that there IS a happy moment no matter how badly depressed you are.Later I met Dr. Guo, a psychologist in China. His healing method is building 4 basic strong character(fearless, detachment, self awareness and universal confidence)to over come any difficulty.msg me if u interested
@notruth1984 So I got out of depression by mindfulness and Dr. Guo's method. (I didn't take a bit medicine). The process was PAINFUL (for 2 years!!!) but the result is beyond my imagination and rewarding. Feel free to discuss mindfulness or even Dr. Guo's method if you are interested.
I am very glad that this is closed-captioned, but I do have a complaint that the speaker's name is mis-spelled each time it comes up. Seems like that would have been an easy spelling to confirm. Also, some of the words are wrong and change the meaning such as "awareness" is captioned as "weariness" at one point - obviously dramatically changes the meaning of what is being said.
Otherwise, thank you for posting this and taking the time to caption it.
i love how he doesn't fill his silences with 'um, errr, mmm...' when he is trying to think of what to say next. he gives himself time to think of the word even if he is standing in front of a couple of hundred people.
jon kabat Zinn is wonderful and I love him...I can listen to him all the time.....he helps me to enjoy so much more in life.....Thanks for this clip!!.

A bold, rambling, rebellious and deeply truthful performance from the Zinn within.
