  • >mfw it's assembled by humans and not some all-automatized factory

  • nah my pinhole's better :P

  • from now on i will respect my lenses more, and take a good care of them, 17-40L 24-70L 70-200L

  • Whilst the lens is very nice. Its not going to make any photographer better.

its like that Robert Capa quotation "if your photos arent any good then your not close enough".

guarenteed people talking about who are better Germans or Japanese at making lenses and cameras, use that as an excuse for not going out and taking pictures.

  • On my personal opinion: Japanese craftsmanship is better than Germany's. I believe Japanese lenses are better than Germany lenses (hmmm... then why their Panasonic uses Germany Leica lenses? Still confusion).

  • branding. leica has huge branding, just like carl zeiss being plastared all over sony's consumer camcorders

  • Oh...this is where they add their patented backfocus/frontfocus!

  • no wonder my 70-200mm costs 1700

  • I don' think that's a 70-200? Unless those people are tiny.

  • looks more of a prime 2.8 200mm or a 400mm

but either case it's the process what I'm talking about and quality/price :D

  • its a 500mm prime

  • (y)

  • @sarzamineiran

    500mm is a tele, not a prime.

  • assembled by hand. thats why its so damn expensive. =)

  • so lenses are hand made?

  • Ah no it is assembled by hand not made by hand

  • how sad if you realize that there is a piece missing or is wrong when finished ^^

  • HOLY! i guess in just less than ten minutes.. that lens.. is worth like around $7000..there is a huge profit to be made...holy smoke..

  • there's more too it!

  • yeah, i just realized...

  • do you know how hard it is to MAKE the lenses themselves?

  • man u r right, it really is hard...

  • The optical glass and the labour are super-expensive. I doubt if Canon makes much money on those lenses.

  • @inkybutton2

    los pobresitos :-)

  • how they prevent the dust from going in the lens if they manufactured it manually? I believe is all machine-automated instead like what we see in this video. Is this a video of lens servicing and re-assembling?

  • My dad visited the Nikon factory to do a segment for the Discovery Channel and most of the products are made by hand! Cameras, lenses, parts...you name it!

Everyone does have to go through a cleaning machine first.

  • they do this in a clean room.

  • i pre ordered a canon 300mm f2.8 IS L, i will make a video about it in a month coz its still placed in order from japan.

  • While amateurs are arguing about what's the best camera, Pros. knows the lens is the most important part of getting the best picture quality.

  • yes but this is a beautiful lens isnt it

  • This is totally uninformed. In the digital age, the camera has as large an effect on image quality as the lens, if not more

  • Now I know why is it so expensive.. o_O

  • ;) The glass itself is expensive already.

If that isn't enough you can special order lens in gold :D perhaps diamond as glasses :D

  • if the glass was replaced by diamond you could drop your lens all you want then..haha

  • Haha yes :D

  • then they would cost 300,000 for a simple 18-55 kit lens :P

  • what a hard job !!

    very interesting video

  • That's a $6000 lens! It cost double in Europe and Australia...

    Damn! That's nice!!!

  • No dude your wrong its cost less In Europe and double in America and 2.5 in Australia but dude i tell you, if you convert it its the same price where ever country you go.

  • It's interesting to know that they don't wear any haircaps.

  • Respect the other language man. Every country has their own language like Chinese, Japanese, Finish, Frensh etc. Im not english too but critize i the english language?... No, its interesting to hear and learn it.

  • you redneck.

  • hard core lens...i wonder how much this one costs? i got new respect for lens prices now. I won't complain about prices in the future. I wish there was a Nikon lens video to watch on youtube.

  • I think's it's the 500 F/4 IS, sort of 5500 dollar, quita a resonbel price in USA but in other countries it's a lot more expensive.

  • apparently it takes 6 weeks to make 1 camera lens..this true?

  • Beautiful skilled Asian hands.

  • NICE!!!! I love my 3 lenses from Canon.

  • 'daaaamn, love you chinese, made my L-series lend with bare hands :P' - Japanese hand assembled da L Lense. These glass are so delicate & fragile u cannot rely machines block head. These r 300mm and higher L Lenses. I'll glad they assembled my 300mm F2.8L IS USM & 500mm F4L IS USM like these. Which L Lenses are u use Evil2D? lolz
