TA that it would seem had nothing to do with the creation of the tifo, and obviously didn't get the concept of it. Your "idea" behind the explanation is much better. Although I have to say, in my opinion was proven wrong by the lack of continuous support toward the end of the match when Jen Weld sounded more like a Sounders home match.

"Decades of Dominance" referred to how the Sounders have dominated p0rtsʞum over the decades. "Quality over Quantity" referred to how p0rtsʞum fans think they have "quality play" (5-3-9) over our quantity of silverware, it is obvious we have both.

I didn't post this video for other support groups to mock (though you may, it's a free world) or to get youtube hits, I posted it because I'm proud of the work the TA did in imagining, designing, outlining, painting, sewing, getting set up and displaying for their club. The Timbers Army does tifo to show support for their club. I'm proud of everyone who had a part in the making of this tifo and thankful I had a part in it. RCTID
Its easy to be a hater but hard to put the work in to make these tifo's happen. I think some credit needs to be given to the peoples who spent the time to make this and support the team they love. Not be told by fans of the opposition that it is worthless. I don't expect any compliments but the nasty comments about the effort of the TA can be left out. They work there asses off to make a fun and special atmosphere for the fans and that's all that matters. I am proud of the Timbers fans .
The Timbers may not be number 1 in the league, or play the best/most attractive football. They came out strong, then crumbled, and at the end of the day Shittle got the result they wanted. And at the end of the year, this result matters. But at the end of a lifetime, the result matters little.
What does matter is what the team means to me and all those that cherish it. This was a celebration of community; a reflection on how we love our players, team, city, and each other. RCTID and ACES

I don't see anything about what he said that contradicts my comment... The tifo still says "We're better than you", which addresses the rivalry. But it's obvious that the focus is more on the last part of what he said... "Showcasing not just the team, but the community and what it means to be Timbers fans".
There's plenty of insults to be had back and forth over the years, through chants, tifo, and random comments. It would cheapen the whole thing though if it's all about dissing.

I would say that he is pretty clearly saying that the tifo is specifically for the outsiders, which contradicts your statement. So when they say that they're showcasing, they mean that they're showing how much the fans support the Timbers soccer club. @GameQ The club allows us in the stadium early but we paid for all of it ourselves independent from the club. The supporters group did all of the rigging, and pulling in this display. All they did was let us in early.
