because the tremendous noise it makes bounces off all the buildings very rapidly and makes it confusing to tell where the truck is coming from...The louder you make your truck the more confusing it is........nice user name btw

They don't use the Q because there's an ordinance against it because it's apperantly "too loud when it bounces off buildings." I think it's bogus, and some houses just instal their own, it's great for traffic. Tower Ladder 35 and Engine 40's house installed Qs on both of their apparatus.
