The problem you have is when you use his skill shot is you are aiming where the enemy champion is instead of predicting the path he is going to move in. So many people complain about how hard it is to hit skill shots all you require is a little bit of common sense.

well from what I know about xerath he's not about kills, he plays more of a damage support role to help teammates get kills. for team fights put on locus of power then ulti in the middle of the enemies then arcanopulse if you can, but afterward try to use your speed boost and stun to catch running players

@tomamenas if you help you team mates out and not just stand in the middle all the time your more likely to get alot more kills , as from your comment i see you dont play brand/never have played him .. if you know how to play him you can end games is anywhere to 20-30 mins . for me it takes about 35-40 Mins :)

Another champ that does good and damage and stuns and can get away good is kennen. He just goes there with his ult doing massive damage and he can get away very safely with his E. And he is soooo fun.
The dandihn commentry is much longer but tbh, I think he kinda shows what can be done a bit better. He is a muuuuch better player than vast majority of people tho. I feel colby's video shows what most of us will get out xerath and that should be taken in mind. Dan's video show's what top players can do

Low mana cost what? U must be plating another champ, i use mana regen glyphs and masteries and I am constantly using his Q on cooldown. I'm thinking Colby only likes melee champions as those are the only new champs he doesnt say are bad or not fun.

I think this guy is just going to be like how Orianna was. No one talked about her at first. Then a few started to talk about her. Then it was "OMG SHE IS OP".
In skilled hands he will probably be ridiculously good. Particularly where you get situations where you can push mid as a team with superior poke.
People said Lee Sin and Orianna were meh at first. People got used to them. They became game breakingly OP. And most characters with long range and skillshots do this.
@BleednDreamz I have to disagree with you. Lee Sin maybe, but Orianna was OP right from the start. I remember seeing streams where high level players read her skills and were just like "welp: she's broke as fuck."
I think colby isn't getting that he is a very niche champion. He has good early lane dominance, but late game he is about safety and positioning. Yes, if you're having a fight out in the open Nocturne or Akali can just run up and burst the crap out of you, but if your team fights in the jungle and you're hiding behind terrain then you can put out a ton of damage and be pretty safe.
I'm going to say what all the people who disagree are trying to say, but in a RESPECTFUL manner. Xerath is meant to be like artillery. He stands at the back and pokes before a teamfight even breaks out. Then once a team fight does happen, he uses ult. Colby, you were most likely using/building him wrong. A Rabadon's Deathcap is important, but so are utility items such as Ryalai's and Morello's Evil Tomb. That solves the cooldown and skillshot problem. Don't be so quick to judge, Colby.
Thought he would shine standing behind the jungle walls and poking people while they are behind their turret.... but nidalee does that better for MORE spear damage.
skarner is not that bad,at least he is mobile not like captain clanky. On dominion he is horrible always picked by the worse player of the team.Any team that has Xerath is 4v5,
@ParagonRice A champion with a high skill cap/skill ceiling is one that takes more time to get used to and master. Some would even go as far as saying a casual player will never be able to be decent with champions with high skill caps because it takes too much knowledge and game sense that casuals tend to not have (not all casuals, though). Some champions might have a high skill cap, but at the same time be easy to use at a lower level (yet it wont be played to the highest potential).
good early game and mid game but falls off really bad late, even if you are fed you just have no real CC because if you go in to get your stun off you end up dying or you dont hit the stun
Xerath completely dominates melee champions in lane. Unless he's fed, he doesn't do much later in the game. Imo his job is to completely shut down his lane while everyone else farms.
I wholehearted agree to all of the points you made, except the q comment. I'm not sure if it was the champions I was choosing against him, but his q seemed amazingly easy to dodge. (For example, I only get hit by him once or twice in laning phase and team fights.) He definitely seemed like a better champion on paper, kind of like Skarner.
Definitely an awsome commentary, just as always from Colbycheeze and ,to be honest, i expected nothing less. I have to say that many sh*ts happened in your games like the shaco kill on you and the first blood versus LeBlanc and many more. Still in my opinion Xerath is a very interesting and kind of a "rewarding" champion to play. Keep on uploading awsome videos!
In my opinion, Xerath isn't that bad. He's just something new.
Ok yes, he has no mobility, but all mages are like that. His burst is actually pretty good, i've easily taken 1-3 bars of health with just one q ability (non fed) and taken 2-5 while i was fed.
You just have to get used to him. He is completely unique. I've found staying away from battle over terrain using abilities will get you a TON of kills if you can land everything.
Xerath is pretty much all about: Landing skillshots/position

All other mages such as morgana and lux also have no mobility either. Yes they have stuns/slows, but those are all skillshots. If you miss your are screwed. Versus other characters such as tryn, yi, miss, teemo, etc

Another champ that does good and damage and stuns and can get away good is kennen. He just goes there with his ult doing massive damage and he can get away very safely with his E. And he is soooo fun.

The dandihn commentry is much longer but tbh, I think he kinda shows what can be done a bit better. He is a muuuuch better player than vast majority of people tho. @Da16k1 Yeah dude, ur so right...i realize this is a first impression but still...he should quit doing these...i still renember how he said that lee sin was crap, also skarner was the worst champ in the game, he just does not understand that high skill champs should not be the subject of first impressions...because they can take months to master...he should learn the champ and then after a few weeks talk about him or just shut up, coz if HE cant play him it does NOT mean its a "garbage" champ...

Low mana cost what? U must be plating another champ, i use mana regen glyphs and masteries and I am constantly using his Q on cooldown. I'm thinking Colby only likes melee champions as those are the only new champs he doesnt say are bad or not fun.

I think this guy is just going to be like how Orianna was. No one talked about her at first. Then a few started to talk about her. Then it was "OMG SHE IS OP".
In skilled hands he will probably be ridiculously good. Particularly where you get situations where you can push mid as a team with superior poke.
People said Lee Sin and Orianna were meh at first. People got used to them. They became game breakingly OP. And most characters with long range and skillshots do this.

I think colby isn't getting that he is a very niche champion. He has good early lane dominance, but late game he is about safety and positioning. Yes, if you're having a fight out in the open Nocturne or Akali can just run up and burst the crap out of you, but if your team fights in the jungle and you're hiding behind terrain then you can put out a ton of damage and be pretty safe.

I'm going to say what all the people who disagree are trying to say, but in a RESPECTFUL manner. Xerath is meant to be like artillery. He stands at the back and pokes before a teamfight even breaks out. Then once a team fight does happen, he uses ult. Colby, you were most likely using/building him wrong. A Rabadon's Deathcap is important, but so are utility items such as Ryalai's and Morello's Evil Tomb. That solves the cooldown and skillshot problem. Don't be so quick to judge, Colby.

@ParagonRice A champion with a high skill cap/skill ceiling is one that takes more time to get used to and master. Some would even go as far as saying a casual player will never be able to be decent with champions with high skill caps because it takes too much knowledge and game sense that casuals tend to not have (not all casuals, though). Some champions might have a high skill cap, but at the same time be easy to use at a lower level (yet it wont be played to the highest potential).

Xerath completely dominates melee champions in lane. Unless he's fed, he doesn't do much later in the game. Imo his job is to completely shut down his lane while everyone else farms.

I wholehearted agree to all of the points you made, except the q comment. I'm not sure if it was the champions I was choosing against him, but his q seemed amazingly easy to dodge. (For example, I only get hit by him once or twice in laning phase and team fights.) He definitely seemed like a better champion on paper, kind of like Skarner.

I have to say that many sh*ts happened in your games like the shaco kill on you and the first blood versus LeBlanc and many more. Still in my opinion Xerath is a very interesting and kind of a "rewarding" champion to play. Keep on uploading awsome videos!

In my opinion, Xerath isn't that bad. He's just something new.
Ok yes, he has no mobility, but all mages are like that. His burst is actually pretty good, i've easily taken 1-3 bars of health with just one q ability (non fed) and taken 2-5 while i was fed.
You just have to get used to him. He is completely unique. I've found staying away from battle over terrain using abilities will get you a TON of kills if you can land everything.
Xerath is pretty much all about: Landing skillshots/position

i main kennen and kassadin. talk about fucking mobility. with a blue buff from my jungler i can either kill or force the enemy out of lane with ease, then riftwalk to a side lane for an easy gank.

all of these heroes are about landing skillshots/position, except their mechanics aren't retarded.

Kassadin is an assasin, so of course he is going to have a gap closer. Kennen i can't argue, but then again hes small so...AND A NINJA.
Akali is assasin, already explained about that
All other mages such as morgana and lux also have no mobility either. Yes they have stuns/slows, but those are all skillshots. If you miss your are screwed. Versus other characters such as tryn, yi, miss, teemo, etc
