it was good. very versatile but not a smooth overdrive. It's a jack of all trades but master of none. It's not a BAD sounding amp by any means...just there are much better tones out there if you don't mind sacrificing some of the flexibility.
@FastRedPonyCar realy u never haqppy i gues that if u were to poor to care about personality issues any amp i guee the v3 would be fine for u but hey u got the ear the cash the know how go spend 3ooo more and it will be not what u want or expected these amps shine on stage . no one care what nuance and tone that the amp will or wont do. u never will ever stay with a brand that will be u this is usa shit man .anyway my opion just spend on a framus or engl slawn
not sure I quite understand your post but I do play a splawn nitro now as well as a custom built TITAN which is essentially a hot rodded soldano SLO100
ok they're earcandy brand greenmachine speakers. VERY good speakers. Very similar to eminence wizards only louder and cleaner and twice the wattage (125 watts)
I set the master controls at one spot and leave them there and use the channel controls to alter the tones.
It took a lot of time with the V3 to get a sound I wanted. It's controls are very touch sensitive.. like a recto. One knob's position changes the way the other knobs alter the tone much like a parametric EQ.
I noticed you changing channel 3 and the master controls a lot to get different tones while you're playing in this video. Do you recommend keeping the master knobs flat and getting your channel 3 tone first , and then messing with the master knobs for further tone changes? I really like your sound on the v3, and you find good tones quickly.
It doesn't have as much gain but it has a better clean channel, midi, better FX loop switching and a little cleaner of an overdrive. (more clarity at high gain/volume).
They're korean and don't speak a lick of english haha. They haven't said anything yet and the cops haven't showed up (though I got a couple of visits by the boys in blue at my apt. with the V3)
I know you sold the V3 - what turned you to the Mesa? You sounded so sold on the V3 for so long. I'm kinda on the brink myself between a JSX, v3, and a Single Rec.
Of those 3, the V3 is the best IMO. I sold mine becuase I wanted an amp with a smoother voicing for primarily lead work with more gain than the legacy has to offer. the mark IIC was one of the top choices and since the studio preamp is essentially a IIC, I went with that and a carvin T100 power amp.
holy crap dude i think i'm 100% sold on the the V3. i was gonna get a mesa boogie dual retifire. can you get a pettruci mark 4 lead sound out of it? if you can then i'm sold on it.
Probably not since the amp isn't a Mark IV, but I assume you can get something relatively close to it with the Carvin. But if you like the Mark IV, you'd probably only be happy with a Mark IV. There's no substitute for the real deal.
I bought the V3 and my buddy bought the Pitbull for $3,000 I paid $1000 I can get any sound that he can. BUT the trick is what speakers your running through and the V3 has tooooooo many sound options! Takes a while to zero in. PLUS serial and parallel loops as well as midi through. very versitile. You can add distortion to the clean channel too.
SED winged C 6L6GC power tubes, groove tube 12ax7 mullard reissue in V1, electro harmonix 12AX7's in the rest of the preamp slots except a mullard nos 12AT7 in the phase inverter slot (V5)

Not in that clip. I used a TC electronics Gmajor for delay/reverb.

Holy cow dude, your neighbors have to hate you! Nice tone! I can really tell a difference in your tone through the buzzbomb btw.

the right speakers and cab can make a world of difference. The buzzbomb cab helped really make the high end sizzle controllable.

What sold you over the other two? I've been playing a XXX for a few years, but I need more refinement, but still want an aggressive modern tone.

It's below the avatar. The clean and mild overdrive buzz bomb vid has a better shot of it.

have you replaced any of the tubes in the V3 or is it just the stock tubes? it sounds nice either way
