  • Esta versión es preciosa y llena de sentimiento

  • STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE!!!!!

  • As a song by itself, I prefer Angela's version, but the original fits the ending better. Love both!

  • She needs to take it a pinch slower.

  • I LOVE both versions. But still, when I heard Angela in the live concert and it sounded THE SAME as in the recorded version, I realized this girl does have some voice.

This version is a little too rushed, though, IMO.

  • Mh, it's too fast for the ending sequence. On it's own, it's a good remake.

    C-A

  • Not bad at all. GJ Angela.

  • i agree with shadow. this version would be a little too fast for the ending sequence of FFVIII. the slowdance ballad aspect lost in this version a little. but this one is still pretty cool. i like listening to different versions of songs i love. :D

  • I kinda like this one better than Faye's. Though the original fits the ending better. FF8 deserves more love!

  • Honestly, from a musical (and technical) point of view, this version of the song:

    - is too rushed

    - has the tendency to still have vocals when silence would have been more appropriate (rythm, dynamics etc.)

    - tries to be too 'cool/beautiful' (too much bending in the voice when it's not necessary, for example)

And personally, the singing is too loud/aggressive for my taste. I'd say the original nailed it.

  • Not bad,not bad. I,personally, prefer the old vers. Nostalgic feelings, and that stuff... ;D

  • Oh wow. Can't believe I got emotional and it's not like this is the first time I've heard this version.

I like both versions but Angela Aki's voice is, in my opinion, far more superior to Faye Wong's in terms of this song.

  • i can just imagine Seifer saying as he's fishing "F*** THIS SHIT!" I know that has nothing to do with her singing... but indeed I do like this version better.

  • i like both voices about equal, but faye's is my favorite because i think it was arranged better.

but really, it doesn't matter. people can like different things & that's ok.

  • hmmmmm. lets see. if you're going to say "my last night here with you, same old songs, just once more." should it really be this fast? should it be jumpy? i think it also has something to do with the piano arrangement of the song. if you try to ignore the piano and focus of the voice, its really emotional and in that way similar to wongs.

  • This Angela vs Faye argument is pretty fucking hilarious.

  • yeah seriously, it's like an old couple having an arguement

  • Nice, but I think Faye Wongs version is better. I don't like this version... :/

  • Dare i say it, i like Akis better- but they both have their merits.

  • man... i wish these games didnt end... :(

  • You can't compare this to Faye Wong's...Faye wong's will always be my favorite, but you can't say one is better than the other...Angela sings it different but has its own feel it to it...they both sung very well...both are extremely talented...i like this one as well... they both show emotion to the song...a definite favorite ^_^...but you can't compare them both...they both just as good...but *thumbs up...5/5

    Wesker

    ^_^

  • Thats what I said~ Why the hell was this spammed?

  • My god people, don't compare Angela to Faye and vice versa. It's like comparing apples to oranges. "OMG, IT'S TOTALLY DIFFERENT, I HAVE TO GIVE THIS 1 STAR FOR BEING DIFFERENT!!!" Geez...

  • @Omegamode R u blind? ''''The FFVIII ending with new version of Eyes on Me sung by Angela Aki, be sure to compare with the original. Personally I like this version better.''''

  • @Omegamode That's right. We should totally compare TWO SAME THINGS instead of TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. What an idiot.

  • @HipHopKitteh Oh cool, I totally forgot I commented on this vid.

  • my opinion, faye's version is so touching than this one but on the piano version, angela's sure is better than the original version...

  • Personally, I like Faye Wong's version better. I think Angela's voice doesn't match the song well.

  • i agree :)

  • I thought the timing of the lyrics to the video were just about right. I'm so accustomed to Faye's version, and having parts of the song fall at certain parts of the ending help cue emotional responses. Angela's version doesn't hit the specific points identically to Faye's, but it do a very good job at cueing much of the same emotions. Yes, I cried as Raine hugged Laguna, only it's for a different reason. Good job, good job. <3

  • i like faye wong's version better. this one for some reason, just doesn't sound right. Not that her voice is bad, but her voice doesn't match the song?

  • Exactly.

  • I agree.

  • agree

  • I actually prefer the original version, but this one is quite excellent in its own ways. I just prefer the older version though. ^^

  • I like this version! :) She did a good job with this song

  • MGA DIPUTA KAMO NA MGA LINTI!

    TUOD LANG GID BALA MO!

BAL-AN NIYO NA GID LANG LAIN NA YA SI ANGELA AKI KAG SI FAYE WONG.

    MGA DIPUTA KAMO!

KAINCHINDI KAMO! HINDI EH! KAY MGA TAE KAMO!

song a noise! screaming? unnatural?no passion?

TINAE NIYO NAHULOG! PAGSIPULUTA NIYO KAY KAHIGKO!

    MGA NALINTI-AN NGA MGA BELAT!

    MGA MANGO KAMO!

    MANGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • galit ka?

  • fine!

  • Very soothing... I love, love, LOVE her voice...

  • Tienes toda la razón, esta version de "Eyes on me" de Angela Aki es mucho mejor

    This version is better, thanx

  • angela just turned a nice peaceful song into some rock song to sum it up...=.=

  • this version id definitely inferior to the original...theres no passion nor feeling in and the beats way too fast....well there a reason why nobuo umetsu made the original song at that tempo...coz its nicer..this one is way off.oh well...

  • Angela Aki asked Square if she could make a version of this song for herself since they made her the singer of "Kiss Me Goodbye" for Final Fantasy XII.

She's forcing her own voice to reach higher notes and she can't even say the words properly!

PEOPLE CANNOT SING THE EXACT THING AND ANGELA AKI IS TRYING TO MAKE HER POINT.

SHE DOES NOT WANT TO BE LIKE FAYE WONG BECAUSE SHE IS ANGELA AKI AND THAT IS HOW SHE SINGS THE SONG!

  • She makes this song a noise

Her voice sounds more like screaming at the end of the song

    And of course... so unnatural

  • doesnt even sound natural

  • It's kind of a shame there isn't ever a scene where Squall finds out Laguna and Rayne are his parents.

  • Don't you find it weird how Squall and Rinoa could have been siblings? ;P

  • Yeah lol, but its a good thing they`re not though. :)

  • Whenever I see rayne(is that how its spelled?) and Laguna I tear up.

  • Raine**

  • thanks

  • the song just sounds more "americanized", I liked Faye Wong, even if we heard it about a million times ^^' I love FF8 's ending....

  • the piano´s sound is lovely but I don´t like the acelerations she makes with the lyric, perhaps is because I´m used to the faye wong´s version..

  • I 100% agree. It would be better if she slowed the lyrics down <_<

  • osea el pobre de laguna se queda sin vieja

  • It's really good to me. The arrangement is really good, but it seems like she turned it from romantic to epic. It probably would sound more FFVIII-ish if she would have incorporated some strings. But either way, they're both great and talented singers!

  • i've got a game on this and i want to start a game on the ps3 but it won't let me but my brothers ffVII disk does??? will getting a new FFVIII help

  • The original is much better, but this was definitely pretty either way.

  • Her voice is nicer than Faye's in some parts, but over all, Faye's is still more suitable for the song. The piano piece itself is better though.

  • The original version makes me want to cry. . . This version is nice, too.

  • Some of the lyrics have changed. I prefere Faye wongs voice, but this piano version is pretty as well. But she does have a lovely voice.

  • I prefer faye wongs voice, but I like angela aki's piano version eyes on me better! So theres some things I like and dislike about both of them!So its fair!

  • it's too fast. there's no romnace anymore!!! Where's the essence of "EYES ON ME"? Faye Wong is better.

  • wow...I canlt believe you're comparing THAT...TRY PUTTING FAYE IN FRONT OF A PIANO AND MAKE HER PLAY WHILE SHE SINGS...THEN WE'LL SEE IF SHE REALLY IS BETTER.

  • just got back from my own real war. This vid reduced me to tears, remember the girl i loved that didn't wait for me. Yet still, many things have changed. I'm not the person i was before, I know more now, but am more scarred. My advice. Life is the one thing worth enjoying, everythin else is shit. Those that don't enjoy it are missing their only oppurtunity. War, violence, these are things that no one wants, that are thrust upon us by higher forces. Can't we just be happy?

  • LOL

  • LOL INDEED

  • LMAOLMAO

  • still like the original...

  • LAGUNA! AND SEIFER! SO MANY MEMERYS

  • Oh man, that must be the world record for most goosebump-ffelings in a 5 minutes. Excellent work! I was totally hooked.

  • Angela Aki lost the romantic feeling with the games ending. Whateva anyone says i think Faye Wong is the only one on the Earth that can sing this song with romance.

  • I admit that Angela and Faye's song Eyes on Me are both very good. Kinda hard to pick between the two. Angela's version is somewhat clearer and that's what I like, my only problem with it is that it's kinda fast. ^^;

  • I like angela aki's song because it really has that nostalic feeling that the lyrics of the song is looking for. It's just not the same with the ffviii ending tho.

  • i still reckon, no matter what anyone else says that FF VIII is the best

  • I have to agree that i think Faye Wong's version is a lot better, but call me a romantic, this doesn't feel emotional to me

  • mmm... i llike the Faye's wong version. is song with more passion

  • more better? good. better. best. more better?

  • I like Wong Fayes version better, it got more feeling and is far more "touching".

  • It's hard to compare the two versions. I think they're both very good. Since Angela Aki lived in the US for a long time, she has naturalized English pronunciation so her version has a completely different feel. My only complaint is that this version is a bit too fast, IMO.

  • Faye version was more better than angela.

  • Hmm I like both versions... Angela Aki's voice is so cute in this one... its got this cute love thing to it... Faye Wong's has a stronger Romantic feel to it... both just as good as the other =]

  • i think faye wong version its a lot better than this one

  • this song's good.. but i like Faye Wong's version for FFVIII. Angela's version is too lively. but it's still good.

  • I prefer thsi to the original. I like the end part in Faye Wongs but i prefer this.

  • actually...I love Angela Aki =P But I think Faye Wong is better to sing this song...

  • I actually prefer faye wong's version, it matches so much better to what's going on.

This is a great version, and I love angela, it's just that I think Faye's the only one so far to do this song justice, just as no one but angela could do "Kiss Me Goodbye" from Xii

  • I LOVE how it is perfectly timed with the scene of laguna and raine. Its like, how it was meant to be, MAN I LOVE THIS GAME!!!

  • it s so fast . i don't like it so much , i like Faye ,

  • its too fast for the ff8 ending. i prefer faye wongs

  • I like this version for its revised lyrics but its just too fast. -_-"

P.S. play the song with Media Player and reduced play speed to 0.8 or 0.9 according to your preference. Works for me! :D

  • I like this one better..nice arrangement...

  • this is good but its to fast so yea

  • Hmm well apparently Nobuo Uematsu liked it :P Who cares which is "better" or "worse"? They're different and don't need to be compared. I loved this song very much and thank you for making this video.

  • i just listened to faye wongs version, and i dont like it

i guess i like american accent music or w.e

  • Angela sings very well!!! It's her style, you know, so don't complain. Also, she pronounces the english lyrics in a great way *or maybe because I already know the words??*, whereas, I had trouble listening to Faye's engish words the first time I heard this song. I also think Faye and Angela are both good, that is, with their own singing style. Faye's version is quite "sad", and this version is quite "romantic". I reckon Angela's voice technique is great, and she sings in a very clean manner. ^^

  • The song is better but doesn't fit to the movie

they should remake this game for PS3 and fit the song to it.

  • very very very ordinary and noisy voice, horrible singing technique, annoying background music...

    Amateur

  • faye drags a lot, unlike angela she didnt drag at all.

  • Faye's was ooober better. I mean Angela's voice doesnt fit with the ending theme of Final Fantasy 8. Its was meant to be sad but she was all pouncy.Plus, Faye didnt just have the piano in the background. She had 2 traditional Chinese instruments. They were the Two-String Fiddle and the 19-sting harp.

  • I like the piano arrangement in the beginning of this version. Angela sings good too. Maybe it's just that her voice is a bit common.

Actually, my most favorite version is the orchestral version sung by Faye that plays at the game's ending, not the original version, because Faye's voice and singing are even better and near perfect in that version, and that version is better arranged than the original one. I love its fullness sound accompanied by Faye's delicate and warm voice.

  • She has a great voice but I think she should stick to her own stuff, I do perfer the original of this song. Idk Just something trows me completly off. Wong's sog shouldnt be redone. and I love music by both artist

  • We all feel better with Wong's version 'cause it's the one that we heard in the game. Angela's pronounciation is excellent and she sings it very well, but i'm too used to the original version to say if this is good or bad. Who composed this version? It's fast... did Nobuo compose it?

  • They bouth have a beautyfull voice. But I prefer Wong.

Somehow I feel better with that. I also heard Wong, live, she's amazing, but I don't know how Aki is live... But as I said befor, they bouth have a beautifull voice (=

  • Faye's version was alot better! Angela kills this song! She screwed it up!

  • Hey, all of these comments are compariosns, which I don't think there should be. Always the original is more preffered, but something new, and GOOD is unappreciated. I'm sure if Angela Aki had sung it orignally it would have been more preffered..however that's not the case. My point really is that it's an excellent song. I myself like Wong's version better, but Aki's version is easier listening...um...both are really good. Upload more >_<

  • faye wong is so much better than this lady ... unfortunately i dont see how you can compare lol... this person doesnt relaly have any special voice thats unique. who cares if some parts arent gramatically correct faye owns all!!

  • Isn't there a japanese version of eyes on me? I tried searching for it, but no results. If you have any info, could you reply asap?

  • Angela has a good voice , but lack of techniques , and not presenting the feeling into the music , it's like a singing machine ,it sings a song without any emotions . even if it's pronouncing clearly but doesnt give me any feelings ~~

this version isn't too bad tho , but it can't compare to the original ones.

I love Faye Wong's version way better than this !

  • I would prefer Faye's version, because she puts more heart in her version. But it's nice.

  • I wonder why Angela changed parts of the song that weren't actually grammatically incorrect and then left in lines like "whenever sang my songs"? Weird. I don't like this version, Aki's voice is pretty typical - nothing to write home about.

  • she said never sang my songs on the stage

  • No, both times Angela sings "whenever". You can clearly hear the 'w' and you can hear her sing 3 syllabols.

  • o thats in the old one to

  • I prefer all songs sang by Angela Aki!

  • well at least this ones grammatically correct. haha

  • Well it still says "whenever sang my songs". Actually, I think Angela changed things that weren't really grammatically incorrect. She should've just revamped the first couple phrases if she is fluent in English.

  • I like Faye wong's version more.but I still support Aki!!!I love her song she sang "Kiss Goodbye" The best song from her!!

  • IMO i like the faye wong version better. aki's is interesting but i prefer orchestra instead of just piano. i wonder how aki would sound with orchestra.

  • I like both the same. Faye's voice is very unique and when you're talking about the in-game scene where Julia sings this song in the Galbadian hotel lounge, I would say her voice matches better.

What I truly like about Angela's version is the corrected English. The increased tempo is good but I prefer the original tune.

All in all I think both have their good points.

  • ewwwwwwww i like the oldy better any1 know who sings the old one and the title of the song?

  • not enuff bass to support her voice.

i preferd it cept that there were times she slowed and i didnt like that style for this song/.

  • I like both of them. I've met Angela Aki this passed May and she was sweet. I also heard her perform this song twice and I thought it was a nice remix. I still like Faye Wong's version in the game though. Aki's version is like the Advent: One-Winged Angel to Eyes on Me...uhh...yeah.

  • lol...wow...at least a few people like it :/

  • WOW!!!!SHE'S TERRIBLE! I like the other version WAY better. She speads things up too much.

  • the reason it doesn't sound as good as the original cuz the tempo is faster

  • it be cool they did aa duet, they have beautiful voice

  • Writing this as I watch the video. Her piano and vocal synchs very well with the beginning, but after that, it seems to go out of whack a little bit (goes back in the mood only nearer the end). Also, yeah, makes it a whole lot more Hollywood. The "mmm....mmm" bridge part halfway through looks like a Forrest Gump movie, complete with the feather!

  • I don't think it "sucks", but I think Angela didn't emote effectively. It's supposed to sound sweet and romantic. This version kind of sounds painful, like she's struggling. I still don't like this song much, but I enjoy the vocal performance of Faye more.

  • What is she thinking? This version sucks. Even though she is good singer, it doesn't mean that she can sing every song...

  • Faye is MUCH better!!! Aki's voice doesn't fit with this song.

  • i love angela..but singing her version of dis i prefer faye's one..coz angela don't sounds romantic enough..no suite for the emotional ending of ff8

  • Faye is alot better..i compared the two and she just does way better then Angela..Angela did okay too though..

  • Faye. Aki is still good though.

  • I don't like this version too. Too western. Too playing with the voice. Faye Wong was total emotion. You can't compare 2 different way of singing. If you played Final Fantasy 8 and completed it. The ending was extra emotional when I heard Faye Wong version. She sing well, but she don't know what she is singing. I bet she never play Final Fantasy 8 before.

  • i think faye wong's version wouldn't fit in this situation... i think angela aki's version fits this well. both are good for different reasons. when angela sings it, i personally think that she doesn't know how to sing it. mind you, i also like faye wong version but angela brings a more realistic tone with the strong piano to help it.

  • I like this version of the song a bit more, but with the ending it sets an entire different mood. Faye wongs version is better.

  • This version actually sets a much darker and more serious mood.

  • Faye is the most popular chinese female singer around 10 years ago. There's a reason for that. Her voice just sounds so much more unique.

  • Faye's version, the real version, sounds a lot better than Aki's. It's like... Angela has no idea what she is singing about. The way she sings is so hard on the ears... I had to pull down the volume at least 3 times during this song...

    Go Faye! xP

  • Hey New2ya! I know you from FFXII.net. I'm Fox on there. I sorta agree with you, Aki's is good but Faye's is clearer and I prefer Eyes on Me with more than just the piano.

  • this version IS better than the original one

  • Faye, and Angela's eyes on me are both good, but this one feels more real.

  • Not many people can sing like Faye, unlike Angela I heard plenty.. just sounds like she is singing to children unlike to a lover..

  • Good point. Angela's version really lacks that romantic quality that Faye brought to the original version of Eyes On Me. It really does sound like Angela is singing a song to a group of small children.

  • Angela's inability to use a proper bel canto technique is quite hard on the ears. She falls off the pure vowel and it doesn't sound pleasant on this song. Secondly, her voice is overly throaty and her vocals sound a very shouty. It doesn't sound like she knows how to sing from her diaphragm. Lastly, the last minute of her gasping for air is quite indicative of the fact that Angela was never taught how to sing properly. Hearing her struggling to breath is not very pleasant.

  • shut the fuck up. what are you, a fuckin' voice coach! go beat off to some hentai you loser.

  • Faye has more beautiful voice, Angela has stronger voice. Faye sings it in chinese/old fashioned way, Angela sings it in modern way and sounds like western. I'm old fashioned, so I like Faye's version better...

  • I like this version a lot and it took me a great while to like faye wong's version. but aki's version doesn't seem right with the ending of ff8.

  • What's with the thick southern accent? @____@ -dies-

  • I have to disagree. Don't get me wrong, Angela Aki's version is good, but it's just not got the same... something as the original has for me. Doesn't hit the same spot, if you know what I mean.

  • I always hated Wong Faye singing Eyes on Me. Angelina Aki's is much much better.

  • wow, hey that was pretty good! (The ff8 ending always makes me cry...damn it!!)

I liked the Aki version a lot, her voice is beautiful and perfect for the song, and she gives a new and interesting flavor to it. However, I think that if I had to choose which was my favorite, I'd say the original sounds more natural, and I suppose I'm just used to it, too, lol.

But this was very nice! and I enjoyed it a lot, too! Thanks!

  • yays tis better than the original
