The conductor seems completely useless here. There is no need to pay attention to the conductor here. He seems off beat and behind the orchestra all the time.
@SuperWroclaw The conductor is following the soloist, and keeping the rest of the ensemble in time with the soloist. By, the way he is not behind the orchestra. He is keeping the pulse, the "big beats." You'd be surprised how important a conductor is in keeping even a small ensemble together.
i know a guy who is so lucky; he's just gone to germany to study performance flute for a masters degree with adorjan. !!! i am aspiring to do this too, how cool would that be??!!
Is he German or what? :D He's just fantastic! As flutetime wrote, great technique and dynamics, beautiful sound (perhaps it's because of the material - flute is wooden, it has 'warm' sound, much better than metallic flutes have). Great, great musician.
@HesMcKinnon He's Hungarian. One of the most famous academic flute teacher in Europe. And at "his time" he was a really good player. His teachers were Rampal and Nicolet.. And now he lives in Germany.
Bravo Mr. Adorján! I always remember your suggestions for Nielsen Flute Concerto years ago in a master class in Mexico. We also enjoyed very much your attitude and kindness for teaching and working with Flute. Orchestra, it was very fun and worthy!
By the way, i really admired your Benda recordings.

@SuperWroclaw I think it's only a problem of video concerning the synchronization between audio and image. Hogwood is a great conductor.

Wood being "better" than metal is subjective. Andorjan would sound great on a piece of PVC pipe because he's a great musician. :)
