This is not Kenpo Karate at it's best. George Maughan is a nice guy, but he is largely considered a joke on the Irish Kenpo Karate scene. There are several reasons for this. For one, he makes extraordinary claims which are mostly embellished stories, exagerations, and outright bollocks (like his claim that he worked with the FBI and CIA to secure Ronald Reagan when he visited Ireland in 1984). Secondly, he has awarded most of his black belt degrees to himself, without ever having been tested.
I'm sorry this is all for show I'm sure he can kick someones ass that doesn't know nothing, but kenpo is an art just like a lot of karate styles, the true art in fight is boxing, mauy thai, and wrestling to master all of this skill is a true grandmaster in yourself, I'm not trying to disrespect, and I do respect your feelings for this style of fighting God Bless!!!!
True and when Ed Parker took traditional Kenpo and formed American Kenpo he did look at other styles and tried to make it more up to date. To an extent the UFC has made the traditional martial arts look useless against a good cage fighter. But on the street what ever works works
You just said it, as you can see this style kenpo just don't cut it, and the ufc is a joke they took the art of Martial arts like it was a game, I fought in the cage and it sucks I wanted to do some muay thai boxing, but I was chocked out so there goes my style of fighting:( I just stick to muay thai fights God Bless!!! @619Movement if you got in a cage with just striking ,you were a clown,thats why it sucked,losing sucks.Muay thai fights are a combat sport,like wrestling ,boxing and mma.The ufc has made martial arts more popular and outed the crap thats in most traditional arts
@mungrus what works in a real unarmed situation never changes so doesnt need updating.Grappling and punching have always been seen in real fights whether in a street,bar or ring.They are what untrained lads do when they fight,they wont know shit but do it with bags of agression and strike first,2 big advantages.This clip is an outright disgrace ,10th dan me arse.How on earth does he have any students.
