  • Where are the other fitness videos?????

  • wud be better with a medicine ball

  • Need exercise tips for tennis ?

  • The box is great, the idea is great, and so on. However, please, revise your video so that the knee is NEVER flexed and beyond the ankle. My knees hurt just watching this video!

  • Good video, keep them coming. For the record, ignore the people who negatively comment on the endorsement of other products, not everybody understands the concept of enterprise!

  • Is your foot flat on the box or are you on your toes so you work out your calve muscle as well? Thanks a lot FYB, your videos help a lot!

  • Hi,

I have seen a few good videos for converting your closed stance forehand to an open stance one. Has fyb posted a video explaining the same? It would be great to have an fyb video as the steps are more logical and easier to understand.

    Regards

  • When you suggested to practice the swing motion while doing this exercise aren't you basically hitting off your back foot which causes unnecessary strain on that one leg?

  • No. In the modern game you have to be able to hit from a number of stances -- the open stance being one of them.

  • YES!!! i needed these types of videos. thanks!

  • Great video!

It's great idea to put videos like this, I was missing it a lot, 'cause I'm really fit, but sometimes I feel, that I lack in strength/dynamics in my shots and I've had little knowledge how to develop it.

    Thanks a lot!

  • fantastic video! great explanation. i'm getting one of those plyo-boxes!

  • just wondering which camera recorder do you use for recording these videos because its quality is amazing. or do you use any video editing software to boost up the quality?

  • We use the Panasonic JVC GY-HD200 and Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 to edit.

  • Hey I was curious if you had a college degree in Kinesiology or such, because in my undergraduate we touched base on plyometric exercises also.

  • This is really interesting for the open stance positioning, but is this exercise also beneficial to a person who would have a one hand backhand?

  • Of course. While the focus is on the open stance, this exercise is great for general explosiveness.

  • Great Video....! Thanks a lot !

  • can i use the stairs???

  • You should have one on agility ladder drills for tennis. I use an AL from time to time. I noticed a difference in my quickness.

  • There are health risks with this exercise. There's a large load on the knee due to bending past 90 degrees and especially because the knee is extending past the foot on the vertical axis. Also the twisting motion creates torque on the knee. You can build up muscles, but the structures of the joint (meniscus, ligaments etc) get minimal benefit from exercise and these benefits are offset by the wear and tear.

  • There are health risks associated with almost any exercise and it should go without saying that you should be careful and not push yourself if you're worried about injury. Regarding the twisting motion, that should come from your hips. You shouldn't be twisting at the knee in this exercise (or in any exercise really).

  • Thanks for clarifying the twisting motion for me. I still feel a knee bend past 90 degrees and past the end of the foot is contraindicated for any exercise. :-)

  • when i push off should i explode up and come down slowly?

  • OH and if there is a bigger/taller box would that be better? and can i just use a 10 lbs medicine ball rather than my racket?

  • In my opininion the bigger/taller box does not mather because you are not actualy doing the same thing because as mentioned your butt has to be lower than your kneel and because the size does not change the effect that it has on the muscles. The 10 lbs medicine ball is going to help you if it is too easy for you to do this.

I have been training with full body plyometrics for 3 and a half years and started tennis 4 years ago still training an I know what i say.

    (sry for bad english)

  • I think for this kind of strength training exercise, you should do slowly or medium speed for both up and down and try to maintain your balance. Cause it's like you are using one leg to lift your whole body weight. If you explode up, it'll be "momentum cheating".

  • Hey law. Some of the exercises you do slower than others. We'll have some where you're pushing off / exploding up quickly. We wanted to start with one that everyone could do. Not everyone can do aggressive jumping, etc.

  • oh i see. i was just wondering becuase when i do use my perfect push ups and do them very close together, i was told to explode up and go down slowly, so i was just wondering if it was the same case. So today i was doing it exercise on the benches on the tennis courts and the person on the other court thought i was crazy LOL

  • Let those oncourt people advertise their box. I doubt they will get much reception from the consumers... unless they're rich enough to throw away money.

  • I was waiting for physical drills ... thanks!!

  • :)!

  • is there anything else that you can use instead of plyometric boxes? i don't really want to spend $100 on a box, as i'm only 13 i can't get a job yet so... any suggestions

  • Just find an old plastic milk crate!

  • You can do this exercise without buying the box. Just find some stairs or a wooden box and you are ready to go.

  • steps, chair. Be careful thoug

  • @ObliviousxHope I use an empty Milk Crate which I modified by putting some carpet scraps on the top and base to prevent it from slipping and injuring myself

  • @ObliviousxHope use some bricks placed untop of each other on a flat surface works great for me.

  • Good video o_O

  • i will never buy from a site that spams you though, im shocked that you have endorced that website

it wouldnt let me leave, those type of sites are so anoying

  • great vid. you can double your power only by using your lower body.

  • You can do this on a bed too. Kinda.

  • YESSS THANK YOU SOO MUCHH
