  • Howd he learn Chinese?

  • @Vegemighty He lived in Taiwan, and he was the U.S. ambassador to China.

  • AWESOME !

  • Is this Huntsman's audition tape for the Chinese version of Mr. Roger's Neighborhood?

  • anyone else get turned on?

  • They do anything for money and power...

  • BFD that the guy knows how to speak Chinese.... That was a job requirement and our government pad (taxpayers paid) to ensure he knew how to speak the language! My father was an attache' to the Embassy and had to learn the same thing!! He and my mother took a good YEAR of Mandarin!! What is this supposed to prove??? That the guy speaks Chinese? And so???

  • His Mandarin is ok. To me he sounds like a serious student: one who is aware of the four (five) tones and studiously, carefully tries to produce them correctly. The result is that he doesn't sound very natural and slightly stilted. The other guy he speaks to sounds much more natural, the only caveat is that he only speaks a couple of sentences.

  • He speaks great Chinese.

  • Who's the guy at 1:00? He's got a much more natural accent than Huntsman.

  • that is sooo freaky!!:D

  • Funny how he calls Mainland China "Da Lu," which is very much the Taiwanese way to call China.....

  • @bakabakaian my mom said he was in Taiwan before China, that might explain it.

  • @bakabakaian that's the normal way to call mainland China...mainland Chinese also say "Da Lu"

  • Here you go. A Ron Paul supporter, giving a thumbs up to a Jon Huntsman video. We need smarter people to choose from. Notice I said smarter, not more cunning.

  • Huntsman: "Reagan had never been to China before. When Reagan was in China, he met with Deng Xiao-Ping, Hu Yao-Bong, Lee Xie-Lien for a meeting."

Huntsman speaking on microphone: "Thank you, you are my very good friend."

Other guy: "Thank you, I really appreciate your support."

Huntsman: "Know more about Americans. I will hope in the future that Americans will be able to (cut off)."

I'm guessing the "cut off part" is work with Chinese people.

  • @troyhung333 From Taiwan

  • Couldn't hear Huntsman speaking well to the children, so I can't translate that part.

    Here's the translation:

Huntsman: "Right now, the United States only has one politician, who can speak Chinese. That is me."

Woman: "He got sent to Taiwan to preach."

Huntsman: "When I was in Taiwan, I kept learning. Every morning, I started really early for learning a language. After two years, I could speak Mandarin well. In 1984, I went to China. 20 years ago, I was working with Reagan in the White House."

  • @troyhung333

small correction: he says he's the only governor that can speak Chinese, not politician.

  • Jon Huntsman before watching video: 7.5/10 for an older man.

Jon Huntsman after watching video: 4/10.

  • The fact that Huntsman knowing Chinese is considered to be a weakness in terms of getting the Republican nomination shows just how low the party standards have gone. In a sane world, he'd be the frontrunner by a mile, but today's GOP would rather worship ignorance.

  • @LynxChan

Meh Ron Paul is still better. Huntsman is too "weak" on other major issues like the federal reserve.

  • @LynxChan See, what I always thought about is American's democracy is everyone's democracy. but keep in mind that majority of people in US dont have education and they'll only vote for Candidates who they understand and who are on the same level as them. China has a more concentrated democracy that are among the top crooks.

  • @LynxChan The President of USA is the only job in the world where speaking a second language is a disadvantage!

How backwards is the US where somebody's ability to speak several languages makes him a poor candidate?

  • A GOP candidate displaying intelligence is sooooo 20th Century. Huntsman has no hope of tea party support now that he speaks "foreigner".

  • Ni hao, bitch.

  • I'm impressed. It's rare for politicians (especially US politicians) to speak a second language. He's great, but his greatness might hold him back.

  • @colinjforsyth No big deal, Mitt Romney speaks fluent French, being there on a religious deferment during the Vietnam War....

Plus Mitt Romney's dad was the first Mexican-American (born Chihuahua, Mexico) to run for President of the United States (1968, look it up, undisputed)

Finally, forget this, Mitt Romney is able to bridge the multicultural American gaps by running to the left of Ted Kennedy in Massachusetts and now he can be ultra conservative to be the republican nominee, 2012.

  • I want to see him in a Jackie Chan movie as a villain

  • @Akaczynski1

"Paul supporters controversial anti-Huntsman ad took almost all it's footage from a video of mine."

You guys were also first to break the story, no? Hmmmm.

  • @Theobrothers The examiner just prove Huntsman campaign produce the video.. how dirty

  • @djgabrielpresents

They didn't prove anything. I worked on this story just as much as anyone. Two straight days with about six hours sleep. Unless new information has surfaced during my six hour sleep than I can safely say it is currently unprovable.

Youtube tags, Jon2012girls - Not Proof

Youtube refferal to Jon2012 - Not Proof

    Orinji Forums - Not Proof

Only provable thing is that NO ONE can know it was a Paul supporter, so Jon and the Media owe us an apology.

    Spread that.

  • @Theobrothers Can we ask youtube for confirmation on the first referral ?

  • @djgabrielpresents

We already have it documented, no one is disputing the first referral came from the Jon2012 website. What was up in the air and debated on yesterday morning, was how.

Most of us agreed that it wasn't likely to be a video embed, in fact this is further proven by embeds getting their own designation. We inferred they must have a webmail server, which they do, and that an email link must have been sent, which they clicked on.

  • @djgabrielpresents

However, in later in the morning, around 10am, Robert Quigley explained the jon2012 site has a section, take-action/tweets, which reposts all tweets, and this consequentially is where the first referral came from.

The corresponding entitled twitter account, NHLiberty4Paul, was the one who twittered to Jonhuntsman and so the domino's fell.

  • That bitch asking that question was clearly a plant for Huntsman.. How is this even remotely related to Ron Paul is beyond me. At 1% and grasping at straws.

  • Huntsman is a former diplomat. What's your point?

  • I take it back this is definitely a non- Ron Paul person trying to slander him. anyone down to file a criminal law suit?

  • actually his chinese isnt that good......especially for being in taiwan and china for so long.

  • @rgwynne100 As someone who's studied the language for a little over four years I was kind of disappointed at his accent. But then again, even though I can speak with a more natural accent my spoken Chinese still needs work. It's a lot easier for me to just write or type something instead. Wonder if Huntsman's better at the written language.

  • If Jon Huntsman talks does anyone listen?

    Romney 2012

  • @dleechristy While Spanish and French do give multicultural credibility to Romney, they are relatively less imperative languages than Chinese on the global stage.

  • Not that I would vote for him over Obama, but this guy is by far the best Republican candidate. He should sit out until 2016.

  • If Ron Paul is cool with Huntsman then i am cool with Huntsman... But he is still a Hawk

  • @NyCJT62 youre such a tool!

  • @NyCJT62 lol Is that how you make all your decisions? You Ronbots need to get minds of your own. You're acting like zombies.

  • Huntsman is too smart to be nominated by the GOP...

  • @TheEsotericDesi Are you here too, you filthy littly paki raghead?

  • @TheEsotericDesi He can speak another language. Wow, so unique.

  • Speaking as someone of Chinese descent, he speaks Mandarin pretty well. I would've went with Cantonese, instead, but whatever.

  • I think he just said, my mother is a donkey with fried rice please.

  • Jon Huntsman, the only sane republican

  • I am a Ron Paul supporter, but I have to say this is IMPRESSIVE! Hey after watching Huntsman he might be a good VP for Ron Paul in 2012.

  • @chrisholley1975 i know it's tempting to be taken in by his persona but the bottom line is what is his philosophy of government? will he follow the constitution? is he a non-interventionist? does he believe in liberty? if not, there are better choices for vp. so far, from whatever limited time i've seen him on the debates, i can clearly see that he is no ron paul.

  • @wunderbeast

Another rabid, braindead Ronpaulite. you are correct: Huntsman, thankfully, is no Ron Paul.

  • Right now theres only one Governor in the United States who speaks Chinese, and that's me.

I was constantly studying when i was in Taiwan, every morning I'd get up really early to study Chinese. After two years my Chinese was pretty decent. I came to mainland China in 1984, twenty years ago, back then i was working in the white house with President Reagan. We went to China and met with Deng Xiao Ping, Hu Yao Bang and Li Xian Yan.

  • THEMANCHURIANCANDIDATE AHGHGHGG

  • Not sure if he can give a official speech in Chinese, but for everyday conversation, he's pretty fluent.

  • He pronounced those Chinese leader's names better than I can.

  • i wish someone would translate these

  • @TerranceMcghee You're a moron - he was the ambassador to China... fuck it - just shut the fuck up.

  • @Cubroncs03 Did you really think I thought he was speaking gibberish?
