@IcedBroom Interesting, you should be able to playback FRAPS recordings due to FRAPS coming with the necessary codec to playback the AVI video generated by FRAPS. Try re-installing FRAPS.

@OMGitzKRYSISrs fraps should only record the game windows, not the computer desktop. What game are you attempting to record? The YouTube video box is in the aspect ratio of 16:9, which is widescreen. You are most likely recording in the 4:3 aspect ratio which is fullscreen. To fit the screen for widescreen in 480p the dimensions are 864x480 or 1280x720 for 720p.

@XxYIJxX1 I'm a little confused in which you're asking. Are you asking how you can make the video file longer. There are two answers to this questions. One is that you have the trial version of the software which will only allow you to record 30 seconds, unless you purchase a license. The second answer is that the partition type for Windows NTFS only supports 4GB at a time when writing to the Hard Drive, therefore when FRAPS reaches the 4GB limit it splits videos into parts, which you can edit.

@ilight8 To make sure you know where your files are going, set your destination folder to your desktop. If the file size limit is exceeded then the split files will appear in the same folder with one another.

@and3210123 We need to rule out some things. Do you have enough space on your Hard Drive to record uncompressed footage. Is your recording hot-key interfering with in game controls?

@Bulk39 It is large due to the fact that fraps records uncompressed video. Compression works like so, when using compression the file sizes are much smaller, but have worse quality than video that is uncompressed.

@Bulk39 Yes that is the point of compression is keep the video but have smaller file size. I would try different compression methods to get the best quality so it will be easier to upload.

@master10dude Sometimes the default hotkey to record interferes with the games keys and you will not be able to record. I would change the recording key to something that the games you are trying to record does not use.

@AZANPWNAGE I have my own method of recording commentary while gaming which is record using my PC, and record commentary through my laptop with Adobe Audition so it doesn't cause lag on my PC that is recording gameplay. Then I bring both files into Adobe Premiere Pro and synch them up. Are you trying to use the built-in microphone interface in fraps?

@IamNick38 This may happen when the F key is in use by the game itself, to say change a camera angle. I would change the capture hotkey to something that isn't in use such as Page up or Down.

@NaotoHiromasa For Fraps it is a single process recording software only. Meaning that you cannot capture both skype and a game at the same time. Due to a sound card not being able to record two streams of audio you are going have to either close Skype while playing or try Bandicam, a capturing alternative to Fraps. It comes with the options to record more than 2 streams (a feature fraps does not have).

@MrBlaze769 It is normal for the files outputted by Fraps to be quite large. Reason being is that fraps does not compress any information. If you want smaller footage size then you are going to have to either change the codec within fraps or go into a video editing software and compress it there.

@DD2130 Well there are two BIG problems here (possibly). The first is your GPU simply cannot handle that much stress. Two your hard drive write rate is too slow to run a game and record at the same time. For example I have two HDDs in my PC. One for my programs and Windows and the other simply for storage. Since the storage HDD is not running windows it will record without lag or failure.

@Ducanh12500 Download a microphone? I'm going to take a shot in the dark guess you mean how you can use a microphone while recording gameplay. There are two ways. The first is you could use the built in microphone recorder in FRAPS, if you go to the "Movies" tab you will see option to record from an external device. Make sure that is checked off and then select your device that you use for sound recordings and your set. The other way is getting another program to record such as Audacity.

@daniel151994 @daniel151994 allows you to specify a custom length for the buffer To activate the recording loop imply press and hold your video capture hotkey until the Fraps counter turns pink, indicating that loop recording has begun. It's some what like a replay feature. Most people do not use it anyway.
