@HotpepperDr stoning a child to death would be biblical too, if people took everything in the bible seriously than the U.S would be the most screwed up country in the world, the bible is a bad thing, because people misunderstand everything it says
this site only provokes people. it's not open minded. too many narrow minded parent's who actually get confused with what a spanking is and why it's sometimes used. the parents speaking on this site have been ABUSED not Spanked. The root problem here lies with parent's who don't know how to inflicted a quick spank when a child is completely out of control. No one gives the parent's who spank the credit that a spank is rarely used.
the word "spank" does not imply hitting someone hard. If you read my comment it said I "Never" use spanking as a first course of action. Parent's know when their children are defying their authority and when they are being ridiculous brats. I feel bad for you that your parent's lost control disciplining you. We have all these spoiled brats in prison because of cowardly parents who let children walk all over them and embarrass them. No loving parent enjoys spanking, but it is necessary sometimes.
I was spanked as a child, so this really is profound and gut-wrenching for me. Even though my parents (and ALL my family, and MANY family friends) did this, I know that for me, it was the only way to get discipline across to me. I think God has protected my family from the abuse of spanking, but it IS harder to defend something when you consider modeling in to children and breaking down the Hebrew word. I will be chewing this for a couple days. I appreciate your word search and sharing!!
Bless you for this video and for clarifying that unacceptable behavior should not beget unacceptable behavior and that discipline should be done from a position of love, not anger.
Your interpretation of the word "rod" is appreciated - put the verse you reference is not the only verse in proverbs that speaks on disiplining a child. There's a few other... but what say you to this verse: Proverbs 23:13 "Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die." Got a new definition for beatest?
As much as I'd love not to turn into a smacking parent, I just have this dreadful fear that I'll give birth to rebellious children, the kind where words are ineffective :s
@TheFirstSister Do not think that smacking or spanking is the way to correct or to train. It doesn't work over the long run and makes children's behavior worse.
@strawberryseason I don't think that you're a parent, so this topic does not imply to you. Either you're delusional about parenting and pretending to live in a world that does not exist where parent' have no rights to correct children with what they are up against. I think you were seriously abused by a male figure who disciplined you out of hate in their heart. A loving parent reconciles with their child immediately after a spank and moves on in a healthy manor.
@HotpepperDr You don't know anything about my history, so do not assume. There is no such thing as a "healthy spanking." HItting another human to inflict physical pain on their sacral area does not teach right from wrong, but sets a very bad example. If you have spanked your children, ask them for forgiveness. You can try to rationalize it all you want to, but when an adult hits a child, the adult is acting like a child. Spanking is using hits and stings to communicate. It is very immature.
You should not chastise a child (abuse) but discipline is needed to show your child that there are consequences for there disrespect or for not obeying what you tell them they should not do. Not every child listens to the father or there mother when they are corrected. When a child continues in disobedience what will you do? Nothing?
@havocmia Spanking is not discipline. The root of the word discipline means "to teach." Spanking teaches nothing! It only makes the child very rageful inside. For the parent to teach requires more effort than simply striking a child's backside.
Mark I agree with you, I don't spank, but the following verses throw me. Could you look at some of these other references to hitting and give us your thoughts on it? Prov 23:13: "Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die." Prov 23:14: "Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell (Shoel)."
As a 17 year old young man I can say spanking is important. If your children are on the wrong path. I can speak from personal experience of not having either of my parents around and getting into trouble but when I did wrong I received a spanking which has personally shaped the person I am. For example my little brother hardly got spanking and at the age of 15 decided to move out of my moms house and live practically on his own. on the contrary I stayed home worked hard in school and work every
@MarksJourney Thank you for a wonderful explanation... Habits are hard to break.. Please pray that I am able to apply this concept properly.. Is there any Bible out there that actually translates the Hebrew language precisely???
What does Deuteronomy 21:21 mean? there has to be another translation for "stoneing" or they are speaking about stoneing the demon out of him. please help!! Thanks
What do you think about Proverbs 23:13 NKJV (New King James Version). It states "Do not withhold correction from a child, For if you beat him with a rod, he will not die." The way I interpreted this after listening to your video is that 'beat' does not always mean to physically hit, but to overcome them and to use the rod (the guiding stick used to help the child be led) to help them. Is this correct. I'd love your input! Thanks for these awesome videos! God Bless You!
@MarksJourney Hello my name is Jake i am fourteen, I had sex 2 years ago and now every once or twice a week i watch porn.Last night at exactly 4:40am i woke up and started crying. I believe it was God telling me to go back to him, be more close to him aswell. I have always been a passionate christian and my parents didnt force it on me. I thought i had an S.T.D could everyone pray for me it would mean the world.Sincerly Jake
@XoBrightEyesXo Parents spank because they do not know any better. It is not a good way to teach, in fact, it doesn't teach at all. If you learned right from wrong it was due to their words of guidance, not strikes to your backside.
@Poodleinacan Yes, and it also says a bunch of other harmful things, but the reason we don't partake in these ancient rules is because it is out of context. The coming of Christ wiped out most of the old rules that the Old Testament talks about.
i don't need to read passages in an old fairytale to know that i don't feel the need to smack my kids around...and to be clear, my kids are well behaved and respectful. i have never hit my kids. there are better ways to get your point across. take their ipods and cell phones. that makes a bigger impact. lol
@roserox1 Thank You! My whole pt is that there R other ways to discipline a child. Our child is 16 y/o & is a loving, kind, respectful young man. We didn't have 2 hit him 2 disicip. him ~ taking electronics is VERY effective! I'm not trying 2 change anyones mind. PPL R entitled 2 their opinion - THIS IS MINE! Reg. of which side U R on, U R not going 2 change - either way. There is a diff between spanking & abusing. Too often spanking becomes abuse b4 the parent realizes it. I choose not 2 spank.
Pro 13:24"He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Pro 13:24"He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him diligently disciplines and punishes him early."
Pro 29:15 &17 15 The rod and reproof give wisdom, but a child left undisciplined brings his mother to shame. 17 Correct your son, and he will give you rest; yes, he will give delight to your heart.
Proverbs 23:13,14 "Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die . Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell." The Hebrew word for 'beatest/beat' is 'nakah' meaning >> to strike, smite, hit, beat.
This is the same information that God revealed to me in the 1970's. I have 11 pages of notes that come to the same conclusion as what God revealed to you. I see the same loving Christians are still hostile about the truth that we can learn through studying the word instead of just folowing what the culture of chrisianity teaches. thank you for teaching that grace and mercy applies to children as well as adults. this truth has blessed our family. God's truth is for those who are willing to hear.
Ask ten unyielding proponents of child/adolescent/teenage-only "spanking" about the "right" way to do it, and what would be abusive, indecent, or obscene, and you will get ten different answers.
These proponents should consider making their own video-recording of the "right way" to do it.

We often hear from those who fight to uphold this practice for those under the age of 18 (even to the blaming of the social maladies of the day on a supposed "lack" of it), but we rarely, if ever, find advocates for the return of corporal punishment to the general adult community, college campuses, inmate population, or military. Why is that?
In 31 nations, child corporal punishment is prohibited by law (with more in process). In fact, the US was the only UN member that did not ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The US also has the highest incarceration rate in the world.
The US states with the highest crime rates, poorest academic performance, highest obesity rates and health problems, poorest economic ranking, and largest public welfare burdens are also the ones with the highest rates of child corporal punishment.
It is worthwhile to read the articles of Herbert Ratner, M.D., a public health physician, former Consulter to the Pontifical Institute on the Family, and editor of Child and Family Quarterly. He was also an advisor to the La Leche League at the time of its formation. Back issues of Child and Family Quarterly are available from Child and Family, P.O. Box 508, Oak Park, IL 60303
"I have always been an advocate for the total abolition of corporal punishment and I believe the connection with pornography that is so oriented has its roots in our tradition of beating children." Gordon Moyes, D. D., Pastor, Uniting Church, Superintendent of the Wesley Central Mission, Sydney, Australia. Excerpt from personal communication, 1980.
"The brutal and vindictive practice of corporal punishment cannot be reconciled with the major New Testament themes that teach love and forgiveness and a respect for the sacredness and dignity of children, and which overwhelmingly reject violence and retribution as a means of solving human problems. Would Jesus ever hit a child? NEVER!" The Rev. Thomas E. Sagendorf, United Methodist Clergy (Retired), Hamilton, Indiana. Personal communication, 2006.
"The much-touted 'biblical argument' in support of corporal punishment is founded upon proof-texting a few isolated passages from Proverbs. Using the same method of selective scripture reading, one could also cite the Bible as an authority for the practice of slavery, adultery, polygamy, incest, suppression of women, executing people who eat pork, and infanticide...."
The Rev. Thomas E. Sagendorf, United Methodist Clergy (Retired), Hamilton, Indiana. Personal communication, 2006.
"If we really want a peaceful and compassionate world, we need to build communities of trust where all children are respected, where home and school are safe places to be and where discipline is taught by example." Desmond M. Tutu, Archbishop Emeritus, Nobel Peace Prize recipient, Global Initiative to End All Corporal Punishment of Children, 2006.
Mark, I respect that fact you choose not to spank. But calling spanking violence is something else. There were times in my life when I was beat by a group of guys. I would walk home bloody. This is much like calling the Santa Cruz a river to the Amazon.
okay so if you just flip a few pages, you get this:
"Don’t fail to discipline your children. They won’t die if you spank them. Physical discipline may well save them from death." Proverbs 23:13-14
Also, proverbs isn't referring to the "rod of comfort" because it clearly talks of discipline and children, not comfort. Two completely different references.
Bless you brother. Thank you for posting this. I have been waiting for SOMEONE to make a video on this using the Bible in defence of those who cannot defend themselves; children. God bless you, I love you in the Lord and agree with what you say here. Praise God.
@Hespoketome I believe it's crueler to give your child a time out to force them to come up with a reason why they should feel bad. God Himself disciplines those he loves. I as a father know that when I have to disciple my child- not abuse them, but to spank (that means on their bottom) the message comes across quicker and my child learns better. It's NEVER my first course of action. To say that spanking is a cultural way of disciplining is nonsense, because it is Biblical.
@HotpepperDr You may think that your child "learns better" through being spanked, but it is not true. You may get quicker compliance in some instances, but it makes the child's behavior worse over the long term. Spanking doesn't teach right from wrong, but rather is simply a bigger person asserting dominance in a violent way over someone smaller. If you want to raise responsible children, never hit them again. There are better ways to teach proper behavior.
In the old testament I think in the part were the Jews are taken from Egypt and they walk in the desert for 40 years. God says something like I do this to humble you Like a father who chastises his son because he loves him so I must chastise you.
I disagree with your interpitation of the bible you are just following the times mr sensative guy. I guess the only way test words are to see how your children grow after there of discipline has past
So God doesn't support spanking but he sends someone to eternal damnation for being homosexual.. He doesn't support spanking but he allows unfitting parents raise a child, If we're going to be referred to as his sheep then is that our worth? Figures like Hitler were created because they weren't spanked enough, yet no divine intervention came to stop that. Point is i don't want to be brought up in a world where seeing suffering shows me compassion, that's twisted. I just dont understand the logic
@zealpython What do you know about Hitler's youth? Have you researched it? In fact, according to his biographies, he was brutally spanked by this authoritarian father. Same with Mussolini, Saddam Hussain, Stalin, Ted Bundy and Danny Rolling. All of those named were either dictators or serial killers. All spanking is violence. It doesn't TEACH. If you want your children to be come responsible adults, teach them through words and example, not hitting. Hitting is barbaric.
This is the second video I have watched on you and I think although you really do try your interpretation is a little different than mine I think you just prove my point further this book you hold is outdated !!!!! live in the now !!
,16 in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. 17 You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard lest, being carried away by the error of unprincipled men, you fall from your own steadfastness, 18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity.
Mark, I wanted to share this with you because I feel that you are treading some very thin ground here. Leading people astray is a very serious thing and, again, in my personal opinion, this is a prime example. The Bible is very clear about spanking and nt in the way you think. I am not trying to be rude, but I feel very strongly about this! Here is the scripture I wanted to share with you....
I also grew up on a farm and witnessed how animal mothers taught their young. Let me tell you they are not above bopping, snapping or treating their young aggressively when the babies are doing something dangerous or disrespectful. If a child is hitting the best way to show them what they are doing is wrong is to smack them right back...they then EXPERIENCE that it hurts. The parent has the authority to teach those life lessons. We are not their equal and when done in a balanced way it is good.
@Tarafied1111 We are not farm animals. Parents should teach their children two important lessons in life: 1. To respect other people. and 2. To communicate in words, not through violence. Spanking models the opposite of both of those.
I didnt want to spank my child but when he was around two his strong will was flat out dangerous. He would take off running in a busy parking lot and wouldnt stop with me telling him no. He would run under the horses or behind them and wouldnt listen to me telling him no or to stop. I had to make the decision that me spanking him was Safer and more loving to him than him getting ran over or his head kicked in by a horse until he comprehended the Real Dangers around him.He rarely gets spanked now
Mark, in my opinion, you are out of place here. As for hebrew meaning, I argue that by saying the language that Jesus spoke was Aramaic. SO therefore the Bibe was written in aramaic. Just saying... And its not "hittin" its spanking and there is a huge difference.
If you feel you MUST spank ~ PLEASE - NEVER spank or hit a child while you are ANGRY!! Too many times parents lose control & don't realize how hard they are hitting & the child is severely injured. And YES, I am a parent of a wonderful, kind, loving 15 y/o. Communication is key in teaching your child appropriate behavior! To guide them. And the BIBLE reinforces this belief! Thank you for stepping into the minefield. God Bless!
Thank You So Much! I worked w/ abused/neg children & was also a teacher to NEW foster parents until I fell ill. This is a great debate but we teach the same message that you spoke on. There're other ways to discipline (teach, guide) children than hitting, which teaches the child I'm bigger than you so I can hit you but you can't hit me. This is where bullies are born! Just had this debate on FB & I was crucified but stood my ground. PPL say I was spanked & I'm not traumatized. Really??? Hmm...
@1Love4Music4ever It can be an effective form of discipline. My mum spanked me when I was little if I was doing something dangerous. I'll say it. I was spanked as a kid & I'm not traumatised. I'm not a bully, and I don't even remember it. Because I was little, it wasn't that significant, and just acted to stop me doing something bad. Nothing life ruining.
Yeah, it can do exactly what you said. That's less spanking as a whole and more how it was used & the parenting as a whole.
Mark, keep in mind that if you care about what Christian leaders across the globe have to say, probably 90% would DISAGREE with your interpretation of these scriptures on spanking.
I think your videos are great, and I agree with all the others.
Yes, well Mark, keep in mind that I have things in my house that protect my children from someone that might break in and harm them. (a "stick" used to protect) So again, the rod is referring to a tool that could be used in self defense against a criminal.
This "stick" that "protects" could also be used to spank. (although gently, without leaving a mark) I'm VERY thankful I was lovingly spanked. It shaped me into a law abiding citizen and was good for me
@romansten9 Do you hit your child with a rod? If it's OK to hit your child with a rod, is it OK to hit your spouse with a rod when you disagree with them? How about hitting an elderly parent who has regressed to a childlike state? If anyone hits a child with a rod, they could and should be arrested. Solomon's "wisdom" isn't so wise. His son didn't turn out so great, by the way.
Hi @MarksJourney :) I would like to hear your explanation on Proverbs 23:13,14 "Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die . Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell." I searched online for the Hebrew word for 'beatest/beat' and it is 'nakah' meaning >> to strike, smite, hit, beat. Do you agree with that Hebrew meaning? Thank you and God bless :)
You did one thing that our pastor does that I appreciate so greatly. That is to break down the "real" true meaning of the hebrew words. It just makes it so much clearer. I grew up with the whole spare the rod spoil the child thing. This video put me at peace about my decision to no longer use spankings. I see a great difference in my children and myself since having stopped. Thanks so much for taking the time to dig into God's word and share your time. It is greatly appreciated.
I really appreciate this video. I have fought with myself over this for years. I grew up with spankings, as did my husband. I have always felt that something about it was just wrong. I have been in much prayer about it. I love your explanation on this. It really does help me. I HATE spanking my children.. and have been doing it less and less as I feel greatly uncomfortable with it. My greatest question was how to respond to the greater "offenses". Thank you again. This video has helped me greatly
This was well done. Thanks for breaking down the hebrew meaning of the word "rod" in the bible. It made sense. Now off to pray (and continue to pray) for God to confirm this revelation/message. Now off to pray (and continue to pray for) more insight, wisdom, understanding, and help in properly disciplining my child. After all, my child WILL be raised up in the way he should go...(prov 22.6). God bless you and your ministry and all of those who love God!

Good job with this. Plus, your accent makes it so nice to listen to you talk. :) I just got a book by Samuel S. Martin called, "Thy Rod and Thy Staff They Comfort Me". You should look him up on Facebook. Thanks for speaking out.
Thank you for takeing this subject on! I agree with you about the Rod being for protection, guidance... I just have never done the research you did. I hope you can reach many Christians trying to follow the bible with this material. If we could see God as the ultimate model for parenting he provides us with unconditional love and acceptantce is forgives us many times and yet holds us accountable for actions but still loves us. may your ministry be blessed
It says if you spare the rod you spoil the child so if you dont spank your kids you spare the rod because back then they spanked kids with rods so if you spare the rod you SPOIL (ruin) the child
I'll be completely honest here- I stopped watching at around 1:40.
Why do you feel as though you have to ask a magical fucking sky ghost whether it's okay to discipline your kids? What's wrong with human morals? I'm an atheist, and I firmly believe that it's possible to make your own moral decisions without thoughts of punishment or eternal rewards after death influencing that. When I was smaller, I was smacked all the time for being a little brat, and to be completely honest, it didn't really
@PedzProductions You are an atheist, that's why you would feel this way. Maybe you should just accept and respect that Christians find it important to consult the Word of the God they believe in. I have Buddhist friends and such who have strange practices, but I don't question it. They have a right to do/believe whatever provides them comfort and peace in life. At the end of the day, that is all people want.
Those who understand the word of God do so because they have the Holy Spirit indwelling them, this is no act of their own , but because God chose them and called them. Those who do not understand the word of God cannot and will not because their minds are closed to it. This is a profound mystery and all this arguing is pointlesss, one thing is certain though, those who are chosen know it and are eternally greatful to Jesus for making the way......
Wow, for once I don't agree with you Mark, but I understand your point of view. I also like the in depth view you gave on it and the comment in the beginning where you encouraged us all to journey deep into the word ourselves. Though i would spank my children, I still like the way you punish them with the timeout period and followup. I've heard from other families who have a timeout but dont follow up with it as you do, so i was glad to hear that.
The bible says its ok the smack your child. Its written right in there. Its written by primative men from a primitive time. We have moved on since then and so should you:) I hope you keep reading your bible but i hope you read it for what it is and stop making excuses for it ignorant authors....
@Tarhini you are an idiot:) you should stop judging people without getting to know them first..... and to truly read the Bible for what it is you need to get DEEP into the word like Mark and stop being a whinny little dick:) and no, it is NOT okay to smack your child.. it teaches your child to smack others for the same reason that you smacked them, which is doing what you think is wrong.. and it's just down-right cruel and bitchy!!
Perfect example of how utternly meaningless the Bible is. A hundred people will read it and decide hitting children is fine, another hundred will read it and believe it clearly states they must hit their children.
Subjective nonsense. How about just be a decent person and don't physically attack your kids? You shouldn't need a silly book to justify your actions.
ok, first off look at the way the phrase is used.. those who spare the rod of discipline.. may not mean a physical rod but discipline itself. when parents/guardians whatever don't discipline their children it shows lack of love, on the other hand, when they do discipline the child it shows that they care enough for that child's well being to show them some tough love, not out of anger but out of fear that their child could be developing a mentallity of making bad choices
if you base your knowledge on the say'so of others without digging deeper you may not be listening to honesty and truth, even tho it is good to listen and gain more information, don't take it literally, fools don't question the so called wise, im not saying question the bible, find understanding in it, this guy is a good guidance for your future reading and understanding, maybe look it up for farther confirmation, and do your own research, better not to argue even if you think your correct.
the problem with life is that every human being insists that they are correct, and the people easily manipulated will follow and this is why cults start and wars and such, but anyway, instead of disagreeing and arguing out there, some are good and such but anyway, learn it yourself, some may do, but the certainty of truth is hard to grasp when there is so many people debating, 1st learn hebrew (difficult i know, i havnt) but thats not the point, and read the hebrew scripture.
I do have a question for you? where is it in the Bible to put them in time out? You actually made a lot of good points however I dont think you can justify putting them in time out. If you can could you please explain?
@jordyap I have to disagree with you the new testament was only adding to what there was already! Its not because it was outdated. If that was true why would people have kept it in the bible for over 2000 years? Once again, modern times have nothing to do with it. For the Lord is the same yesterday today and forever! Its man that has changed not GOD! Sorry but your facts are wrong.
just gonna put it out there but you should not just go ahead and decide on what to do because the bible says so. Jesus came down and preached a new method about the bible to be taught and thus Christianity was born, he did this because the ways of the old testament was dated and only suited the people at the time. since the new testament is roughly 2000 years old, it would not be wrong to state that the methods in the bible is dated and need to be changed to suit modern methods
You seem like such a nice person Mark, its a shame Religion has poisoned your mind. I like to play a game when i watch your videos replacing the word Bible to Bhagavad Gita and Jesus into Krishna..
Make ready to slaughter his sons for the guilt of their fathers; Lest they rise and posses the earth, and fill the breadth of the world with tyrants. (Isaiah 14:21 NAB)
And he smote of the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of Jehovah, he smote of the people seventy men, `and' fifty thousand men; and the people mourned, because Jehovah had smitten the people with a great slaughter. And the men of Beth-shemesh said, Who is able to stand before Jehovah, this holy God? and to whom shall he go up from us? (1Samuel 6:19-20 ASV)
"But if this charge is true (that she wasn't a virgin on her wedding night), and evidence of the girls virginity is not found, they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her fathers house and there her townsman shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst. (Deuteronomy 22:20-21 NAB)"
"A man or a woman who acts as a medium or fortuneteller shall be put to death by stoning; they have no one but themselves to blame for their death. (Leviticus 20:27 NAB)"
"Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB)"
"You should not let a sorceress live. (Exodus 22:17 NAB)"
I would like your take on a few quotes from the bible;
"Anyone arrogant enough to reject the verdict of the judge or of the priest who represents the LORD your God must be put to death. Such evil must be purged from Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:12 NLT)"
"Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)"
"Cursed be he who does the Lords work remissly, cursed he who holds back his sword from blood. (Jeremiah 48:10 NAB)"
@chessonmyshirt you have a misunderstanding of these verses. Firstly the first two are from law books in the Bible, read them with that in mind. These crimes along with many others cause death..death in many forms... death of the mind, death of knowing what is right. (esp. if they go un-punished)death of the body and there's a much more terrible one the death of your soul. :( please take it seriously. Thankyou God that you sent Christ so that we didn't have to be under this death giving law. Amen
That's okay if you think that but it means you must think that for everything.
When it states the same things in the Quran, Christians seem to love pointing out that it's a religion of death even though one can find very similar quotes in the Christian holy book.
@chessonmyshirt That passage in Jeremiah is talking about the Moabites. This is what God says about them “My heart cries sadly for Moab..." Did the Muslims ever cry sadly when the world trade center fell? Do they really care about us? all they want to do is force their beliefs on us.The Quran is evil and promotes self righteousness which leads to death. And as for me, I try to draw my sword against the evil in this world every single day. I would be cursed if I didn't fight the evil in this world
The extremist Muslims didn't, I personally know quite a few Muslims that cried and mourned over the losses on that day. Yes, Muslims do care about us, the Quran isn't evil and doesn't promote death; this is just your bias interpretation, the same way I can find this passage in the bible;
"Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)"
And say that Christianity promotes death because of it.
I've found more Christians who push their religion on me.
@208stroker1 Where is your proof that the bible is "just another thing people wrote to manipulate others to their owns views"? If you can show me this proof you have, I will stop wasting my life caring about others and respecting people.
Dont take this the wrong way but dont believe all u read as the bible is just another thing people wrote to manipulate others to their owns views..i myself dont believe in the bible as its a joke and i dont belive in religion, but i do have faith i just dont need others to do my own thinking.!
@208stroker1 Listen my friend :) Yeah the bible was sent to guide us! thank goodness it was, otherwise i dont know where i would be! But think about this haha The Bible was written thousands of years ago... A time when people believed in blood-thirsty God's that just wanted to kill and destroy. But Jesus is different, he is love. Do you think that he died on the cross and to change your opinion for no reason! Why do you think he wanted to "manipulate" you? to get money of you? to become famous?
@208stroker1 Why would humans plan something like that?! haha It was completely contriversial to the the ancient times! and it really still is today. People are power hungry, why would they make up this story about a God who was prepared to go to weakness for you. He was and is prepared to lose everything for you. This is beyond our human mind and yet you say that humans just made it up hahaha its actually laughable! everyone is manipulated by something or someone. I chose the Lord Jesus Christ.
@208stroker1 I'm not being a smart ass and i dont know it all.. My last physics exam result would prove that hahaha but i know something, that is that God sent Christ Jesus into the world to save my life from sin, and he has and it makes me soooo happy, and thats all that matters. GOD IS SOO AMAZINGLING WONDERFULL!!! :D I just want to share that with people :) but please don't be tricked and close your mind, that is exacty what the devil wants you to do, don't fall into the trap.

HotpepperDr 1 month ago
this site only provokes people. it's not open minded. too many narrow minded parent's who actually get confused with what a spanking is and why it's sometimes used. the parents speaking on this site have been ABUSED not Spanked. The root problem here lies with parent's who don't know how to inflicted a quick spank when a child is completely out of control. No one gives the parent's who spank the credit that a spank is rarely used.
HotpepperDr 1 month ago
the word "spank" does not imply hitting someone hard.

@strawberryseason I don't think that you're a parent, so this topic does not imply to you. Either you're delusional about parenting and pretending to live in a world that does not exist where parent' have no rights to correct children with what they are up against. I think you were seriously abused by a male figure who disciplined you out of hate in their heart. A loving parent reconciles with their child immediately after a spank and moves on in a healthy manor.
HotpepperDr 1 month ago

Nothing?
havocmia 2 months ago
@havocmia Spanking is not discipline. The root of the word discipline means "to teach." Spanking teaches nothing! It only makes the child very rageful inside. For the parent to teach requires more effort than simply striking a child's backside.

Of all the things prison inmates lacked in their upbringing, "spanking" certainly wasn't one of them.
There is simply no evidence to suggest that child/adolescent/teenage-only "spanking" instills virtue.

Hespoketome 3 months ago 9
@Hespoketome I believe it's crueler to give your child a time out to force them to come up with a reason why they should feel bad. God Himself disciplines those he loves. I as a father know that when I have to disciple my child- not abuse them, but to spank (that means on their bottom) the message comes across quicker and my child learns better. It's NEVER my first course of action. To say that spanking is a cultural way of disciplining is nonsense, because it is Biblical.
HotpepperDr 1 month ago

So God doesn't support spanking but he sends someone to eternal damnation for being homosexual.. He doesn't support spanking but he allows unfitting parents raise a child, If we're going to be referred to as his sheep then is that our worth? Point is i don't want to be brought up in a world where seeing suffering shows me compassion, that's twisted. I just dont understand the logic

Tarafied1111 3 months ago 3
@Tarafied1111 We are not farm animals. Parents should teach their children two important lessons in life: 1. To respect other people. and 2. To communicate in words, not through violence. Spanking models the opposite of both of those.

Really??? Hmm...
1Love4Music4ever 3 months ago
@1Love4Music4ever It can be an effective form of discipline. My mum spanked me when I was little if I was doing something dangerous. I'll say it. I was spanked as a kid & I'm not traumatised. I'm not a bully, and I don't even remember it. Because I was little, it wasn't that significant, and just acted to stop me doing something bad. Nothing life ruining.
Yeah, it can do exactly what you said. That's less spanking as a whole and more how it was used & the parenting as a whole.

"the rod protects and guides"
.

"Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die." very similar in all translations of the Bible.
The Bible is very clear here.
romansten9 3 months ago
@romansten9 Do you hit your child with a rod? If it's OK to hit your child with a rod, is it OK to hit your spouse with a rod when you disagree with them? How about hitting an elderly parent who has regressed to a childlike state? If anyone hits a child with a rod, they could and should be arrested. Solomon's "wisdom" isn't so wise. His son didn't turn out so great, by the way.

Now off to pray for God to pray (and continue to pray for) more insight, wisdom, understanding, and help in properly disciplining my child.

VirgilDara 3 months ago
Thank you for takeing this subject on! I agree with you about the Rod being for protection, guidance... I just have never done the research you did. I hope you can reach many Christians trying to follow the bible with this material. If we could see God as the ultimate model for parenting he provides us with unconditional love and acceptantce is forgives us many times and yet holds us accountable for actions but still loves us. may your ministry be blessed

It says if you spare the rod you spoil the child so if you dont spank your kids you spare the rod because back then they spanked kids with rods so if you spare the rod you SPOIL (ruin) the child

My last comment was cut off, so:
It didn't really affect my childhood at all. Trust your own morals.
PedzProductions 3 months ago
I'll be completely honest here- I stopped watching at around 1:40.
Why do you feel as though you have to ask a magical fucking sky ghost whether it's okay to discipline your kids? What's wrong with human morals? I'm an atheist, and I firmly believe that it's possible to make your own moral decisions without thoughts of punishment or eternal rewards after death influencing that. When I was smaller, I was smacked all the time for being a little brat, and to be completely honest, it didn't really
PedzProductions 3 months ago
@PedzProductions You are an atheist, that's why you would feel this way. Maybe you should just accept and respect that Christians find it important to consult the Word of the God they believe in. I have Buddhist friends and such who have strange practices, but I don't question it. They have a right to do/believe whatever provides them comfort and peace in life. At the end of the day, that is all people want.
fluffyfilthylaundry 3 months ago

I've heard from other families who have a timeout but dont follow up with it as you do, so i was glad to hear that.

to all the haters: stop being whinny dicks and accept the fact that just because it's different, doesn't mean it's wrong:)

The bible says its ok the smack your child. Its written right in there. Its written by primative men from a primitive time. We have moved on since then and so should you:) I hope you keep reading your bible but i hope you read it for what it is and stop making excuses for it ignorant authors....
Tarhini 3 months ago

You shouldn't need a silly book to justify your actions.

i adore ur accent.!! :D
ok, first off look at the way the phrase is used.. those who spare the rod of discipline.. may not mean a physical rod but discipline itself. when parents/guardians whatever don't discipline their children it shows lack of love, on the other hand, when they do discipline the child it shows that they care enough for that child's well being to show them some tough love, not out of anger but out of fear that their child could be developing a mentallity of making bad choices

if you base your knowledge on the say'so of others without digging deeper you may not be listening to honesty and truth, even tho it is good to listen and gain more information, don't take it literally, fools don't question the so called wise, im not saying question the bible, find understanding in it, this guy is a good guidance for your future reading and understanding, maybe look it up for farther confirmation, and do your own research, better not to argue even if you think your correct.
OriginalBritishMan 3 months ago
the problem with life is that every human being insists that they are correct, and the people easily manipulated will follow and this is why cults start and wars and such, but anyway, instead of disagreeing and arguing out there, some are good and such but anyway, learn it yourself, some may do, but the certainty of truth is hard to grasp when there is so many people debating, 1st learn hebrew (difficult i know, i havnt) but thats not the point, and read the hebrew scripture.

What about yelling? Sometimes yelling can be more scarring than a spank and is worse if the child gets older.

ConnectedTalkShow 3 months ago
@jordyap I have to disagree with you the new testament was only adding to what there was already! Its not because it was outdated. If that was true why would people have kept it in the bible for over 2000 years? Once again, modern times have nothing to do with it. For the Lord is the same yesterday today and forever! Its man that has changed not GOD! Sorry but your facts are wrong.
ConnectedTalkShow 3 months ago
just gonna put it out there but you should not just go ahead and decide on what to do because the bible says so.

It makes just as much sense that way.

I would like your take on a few quotes from the bible;
You take other quotes seriously, take these.
chessonmyshirt 3 months ago
@chessonmyshirt you have a misunderstanding of these verses. Firstly the first two are from law books in the Bible, read them with that in mind. These crimes along with many others cause death..death in many forms... death of the mind, death of knowing what is right. (esp. if they go un-punished)death of the body and there's a much more terrible one the death of your soul. :( please take it seriously. Thankyou God that you sent Christ so that we didn't have to be under this death giving law. Amen
MichaelSeeds 3 months ago
@MichaelSeeds
That's okay if you think that but it means you must think that for everything.
When it states the same things in the Quran, Christians seem to love pointing out that it's a religion of death even though one can find very similar quotes in the Christian holy book.
chessonmyshirt 3 months ago
@chessonmyshirt That passage in Jeremiah is talking about the Moabites. This is what God says about them “My heart cries sadly for Moab..." Did the Muslims ever cry sadly when the world trade center fell? Do they really care about us? all they want to do is force their beliefs on us.The Quran is evil and promotes self righteousness which leads to death. And as for me, I try to draw my sword against the evil in this world every single day. I would be cursed if I didn't fight the evil in this world
MichaelSeeds 3 months ago
@MichaelSeeds
The extremist Muslims didn't, I personally know quite a few Muslims that cried and mourned over the losses on that day. Yes, Muslims do care about us, the Quran isn't evil and doesn't promote death; this is just your bias interpretation, the same way I can find this passage in the bible;
"Whoever strikes his father or mother shall be put to death. (Exodus 21:15 NAB)"
And say that Christianity promotes death because of it.
I've found more Christians who push their religion on me.

Dont take this the wrong way but dont believe all u read as the bible is just another thing people wrote to manipulate others to their owns views..i myself dont believe in the bible as its a joke and i dont belive in religion, but i do have faith i just dont need others to do my own thinking.!
208stroker1 3 months ago
@208stroker1 Listen my friend :) Yeah the bible was sent to guide us! thank goodness it was, otherwise i dont know where i would be! But think about this haha The Bible was written thousands of years ago... A time when people believed in blood-thirsty God's that just wanted to kill and destroy. But Jesus is different, he is love. Do you think that he died on the cross and to change your opinion for no reason! Why do you think he wanted to "manipulate" you? to get money of you? to become famous?
MichaelSeeds 3 months ago
@208stroker1 Why would humans plan something like that?! haha It was completely contriversial to the the ancient times! and it really still is today. People are power hungry, why would they make up this story about a God who was prepared to go to weakness for you. He was and is prepared to lose everything for you. This is beyond our human mind and yet you say that humans just made it up hahaha its actually laughable! everyone is manipulated by something or someone. I chose the Lord Jesus Christ.
