  • ~Republican$ are always saying that they hate"Big Government". What they really mean is that they hate government regulation.^Keep in mind that Republican$ don't work for you. They only work for BILLIONARES,CORPORATIONS& WALL STREET. They want to destroy MEDICARE because then they can give that money to the insurance co's. They want to destroy social security so they can give that money to Wall Street firms. They want to destroy UNIONS so that everybody makes minimum wage(like in Texas).

  • Reagan tripled the debt ... in 1980's dollars - 1.7 T$ (8 years) 212 B/yr.

    -

After his failed attempt at giving a 25% tax reduction for everybody 1981 - 16 month recession [largest since 1st Repub. Depression], unemployment went from 7.2 - 10.8 % in less than two years.

-He initiated the largest peacetime tax INCREASE in US history - 1982 TEFRA

[National Review, WSJ, Forbes, Heritage Foundation, etc]

    -

Making him the largest tax and spender of the 20th Century !

  • Google...federal debt by president...click on the wiki page that is the top link that comes up on the search.

Then scroll down and find the chart with federal spending in billions per year toward the bottom of the page. You can see spending goes up every year the amount of the yearly deficit changes because of revenue based on gdp, but the actual money spent by the fed govt goes up every year. I'm not trying to defend Reagan as much as I'm showing that liberals are lying to you as well.

    YEAaaaaaaa !

  • Reagan was actually pretty big government guy. Look at the rise in government spending and debt during his term. Why not quote Barry Goldwater or something?

  • @6second2004gto

    (1) He did increase the size of the government by increasing spending. I don't care which programs. Despite popular conservative conception, the military is a massive government program.

    (2) I'm not a liberal, and the USSR was going down eventually anyway because its totalitarian communism was economically bankrupt.

    (3) I don't care if Clinton spent more, Reagan didn't spend less than his predecessor either. That makes him part of the problem along with Clinton and everyone else.

  • Yes the military is a massive government program, but it's a necessary one that I'm glad to pay taxes to fund.

  • @6second2004gto Good for you. And if we were all glad to pay taxes for it, then it could be a charity instead of a government program. The part you're forgetting is the part where you vote for politicians that use the police to force everyone to pay for it through taxes, and if they refuse to pay for it, they go to jail, and if they resist getting forced into jail, they could get shot. So if you don't want to fund slaughter, you get slaughtered. That's your Reaganite morality? Fuck your statism.

  • Reagan = Epic Fail

LOL Republicans are always on the wrong side of history. And they are proud of it too.

  • History repeats it's self. Freedom isn't free. Someone had to pay for our freedom. Men and women gave their lives for us to be free. Don't accept money from a stranger.

  • Yes, Reagan was one hell of a speaker, but I must agree with the many pundits ans historians who have characterized him as an idiot who was woefully out of touch with the real America. This old recording supports that notion. Where would the senoir citizens of this country be without Medicare? Bad call Ronnie. And it's this same bull headed, addled mentallity that fuels that group of clowns called the "Tea Party." I prefer Tea Baggers...LOL

  • She seems so proud reciting the dubious quote.

I bet she stayed up all night memorizing it, and surprised her handlers with it.

  • Hmmm- wasn't it Ronny Ray-Gun that saddled this nation with a $5,000,000,000,000 debt?

Talk about "passing freedom on to our children"! Sheesh! Yeah- he sure passed something on! I hope he's enjoying eternity in hades!

  • Reagan ushered in an era of greed with the idea that all who succeeded did so by the "sweat of their own brow." He never acknowledges that we benefit from a government that provides infrastructure necessary for our "sweat" to count for something. We are an arrogant citizenry failing to acknowledge our interdependence. Many things should be left to market forces, but not the health of our fellow human beings. The GOP has no moral compass regarding this issue.

  • Reagan was a lightweight, Clinton bailed him out. Now O'bama is cleaning up Bush's mess. You neo-cons need to start thinking on your own instead of depending on Rush and Sean to interpret the world for you.

  • Thanks for the laugh, that's the funniest thing I've read all week.

  • idiot

  • Put ronnie on the penny, then take all of them out of circulation; because they did not trickle down - they were concentrated up - by his policies !

  • Don't like trickle down economics? Look at the Democrats doing the same thing...Bailouts...to big to fail....? All those billions going to big business and banks to "save jobs". That sounds like another spin on trickle down to me when you give the big guys money with the excuse that it will save the little guy. Get a clue both parties are screwing us the dems just want the poor to think they are going to help them because they need their votes, but they don't give a shit about the poor.

  • 6second2004gto -‘Don't like trickle down economics?-‘

    -

What is there to like, the -'wealthy got richer'- – lower classes '-can not keep up with inflation'-.

Financed the exportation of American industries/jobs.

Greatest lender nation before the Reagan Admin. con-jobs; Greatest debtor nation directly because of their policies, NOW !

  • 6second2004gto -‘ Look at the Democrats doing the same thing...Bailouts’-

    -

Bailouts, 1991 Savings and Loan and 2008 [save Bush’s ass in history books] – both -'because of DE-regulation'-, that began in the Reagan years, Repub. favoritism to the oligarchic elitists; yet, unfortunately - both done to prevent further damage to the overall economy.

Since the 1960’s Democrats –‘continually worked for’- and –‘accomplished’- Civil Rights, clean air, water, safe food and medicine, fair wages, equal pay, safe work places, Social Security, Medicare, HealthCare, Financial Reform, etc. – because the majority NEED IT .

  • While - Under the guise of supply-side economics … Conservatives, libertarians, corporate and family Elitists lobbied AND:

destroyed labor, deregulated Wall St. [-‘said they could regulate themselves’-], exported industries/jobs, ignored and helped monopolies, logarithmically created the largest DEBT in history

and logarithmically increased the PROFITS of –‘A FEW’- !

  • Research the community reinvestment act and see how clinton had a big part in the housing collapse. The national debt has grown every year since Reagon left office except one. Yes one single year the national debt went down slightly. Your Democrat hero Obama increased our national debt in two years more than Reagon did in 8. Over 8 years Clinton spent more than Reagon did over his 8 years look it up and get your facts straight. Ever heard of Obama's bail out? Who did that benefit most?

  • 6second2004gto –‘ community reinvestment act …-‘

    Clinton in 2000 – blocked anti-predatory lending, Bush re-initiated them ...

75% of loans -'were fraudulent'- from the Banks and lenders ! 10’s of thousands of lenders have already been litigated ! Google “FBI+Subprime+fraud”

Financial institutions were involved in deceptive and complex predatory practices, for short-term profits according the FBI.

Ignoring the fact, the Debt [obligation] grows exponentially based on the principal and interest do. Reagan as both Bushes –‘paid nothing down’- all three increased it greater than anyone else before them, per year.

Obama is committed to paying down ½ of Bush II’s debt in 4 years.

If you want to be taken seriously reduce the : distortions, Hyperbole, re-visionist history ….. and give –‘factual references …’-

  • I don't have to google anything...lol...I already know the facts Clinton was the one who expanded upon the Community reinvestment act allowing people to get home loans with no down payment, lower than normal credit ratings, or even no credit history at all. Sure the banks had a part in it the federal reserve system is a huge part of our problem, but you can't ignore clinton had a part in it. You can twist facts and use false stats all you want. Obama isn't the cure he is part of the problem.

  • 6second2004gto ....

    Clinton in 2000 – blocked anti-predatory lending, BUSH RE-INITIATED THEM ...

GOOGLE … “How HUD Mortgage Policy Fed The Crisis”

  • @hackit12 Another Fun Fact!!! January, 1981: Ronald Reagan becomes the first U.S. President opposed to a constitutional amendment which provides equal rights for women." And she dick riding a president that did not want to give her equal rights.. Hmmm!!!!

  • Your numbers are wrong...I'm talking about actual money spent each year by the federal government. It goes up every year regardless of who the president was. The only reason I'm pointing this out is because liberals blame Reagan for the deficit, everyone since him has spent more money every year. Reagon's highest yearly total money spent in billions was 1,144 Clinton spent more than that every year with his highest year being his last in billions at 1,863. You're really missing my point.

  • 6second2004gto --'It goes up every year regardless of who the president was. ''- ... liberals blame Reagan for the deficit ... - yOU ARE MAKING SHIT up ! - Bush -4.7 T$ 8 years 712 B/yr. Clinton -1.2 T$ 8 years 150 B/yr. *** G.H.W. Bush -1.2 T$ 4 years 150 B/yr. Reagan -1.7 T$ 8 years 212 B/yr. *** Carter -226 B$ 4 years 55 B/yr.
  • Google...federal debt by president...click on the wiki link that comes up at the top of the search. Scroll down and find the chart that shows federal spending per year in billions. The information is there and the facts remain actual spending by the federal government has gone up every year. Debt by a percentage of gdp changes based on how much production is happening in the country, but actual money spent goes up every year including Clinton's years.

  • My point is don't be fooled and follow one party as being the answer. Both of the major parties are growing the size of government every year. Bush II blew everyone out of the water as far as money spent. Obama was suppose to be the answer, but he has already spent more in two years than Bush II did in 8 years. We are in trouble if we continue to accept this type of over grown government it's unsustainable. It isn't a single presidents fault, but instead the fault of all of our politicians.

  • Since you want to cite google references try googling....national debt by president...find the chart that shows government spending by year and president. Every year since 1977 where the chart starts the amount spent goes up every year. The deficit amount changes by year based on gdp, but the actual amount spent by the federal government goes up every year. That shows the size and scope of out federal government has grown to large and is unsustainable.

  • De-regulation that caused our crisis started when Clinton expanded upon the community reinvestment act and freddie and fannie. You talk of favoritism to the oligarchic elitists, but Obama just helped them more than anyone ever has with his bailout. Yes I'm talking about the big bankers. How is Reagon solely responsible for our national debt when every president after him spent more than he did? Get a clue man neither party cares about the working class. I consider myself lucky to have a job

Tarp & ESSA .... Public Law 110-343, signed into law by U.S. President George W. Bush on October 3, 2008

  • Reagan was right. Medicare was good as the celling not the ground. We have now brought forth a new enemy to the public, National Health Care. A program that will not only lead to a bankrupt nation, but will bring a dystopia of pain and suffering. With a socialistic like factor of control from the government. Take a good look at China and ask; Is this what I want my future and the future of my children to be? If the answer is no, you better reevaluate you voting record and vote Palin 2012.

  • are you on drugs. Reagan was talking about Medicare! It has not brought America into socialism. To corrollate one to the other, especially when one just wants people to have health care, is bonkers

  • Thank god for Medicare, or my grandmother would have died 20 years earlier.

He did get his other wish though: Breaking the unions. Good job, bozo.

    Reagan = imbecile.

  • i agree. i didnt like him

  • How right you are ! I'm glad to live in a country with complete medical care for everyone, paid by money from state and taxes. I would have been blinded by retinal detachement if the community wouldn't have paid for my complex and expensive treatment. Now i can work and pay the community the money back, it spended for me. Free health care surely isn't the thing which bankrupts western states.
