  • the only man that makes detuning sound awesome...

  • @MrDeanMun check out Andy Mckee, Brooke Miller, Don Ross, Jose Gonzalez....there's more.

  • I hope that guitar is 18.....

  • Anybody know the tuning? or tabs for the third one? :)

  • @Thegam3snitch dgdgad

  • @MrLakeman3 oh and just watch you can figure it out took me about 5 min

  • What's the tuning of part 4?

  • @SR0Penne0Brillo The bottom E becomes D# I think, and the A becomes A#. and the D, D#.

Can't figure out the rest. Would appreciate a tab or something :/

  • cool

  • anyone know what the guitar he's playing is?

  • @DeanJC100

benjamin guitars :D they are REALLY expensive though :(

  • I could listen to this random melodies he makes all day.

  • Holy shit, the third one...

  • I belive that is what any good ninja would do with a guitar haha

  • What is the tuning?

  • @Tygranra Um well the way i tuned it (from 6th string low E to 1st string top E) is DGDGAD, it sounds a bit higher but sounds just as good :-D

  • @Tygranra He plays in F standard, which is a half step up from E, then Drops the E to D# and the A down to G# then the high E to D# and the B to A# or lol it sounds fantastic

  • Newton - It's quite simple

    Me - D: WHAT?!

  • I really want to know the tuning / tab for 3:21....so sick

  • @Skahr It's in standard tuning and just try and watch his fingers. It's really nice to play :-)

  • @EgyptianBunso any guess at what tuning part 2 is in?

  • wtf !!!

  • Oh and what is the tuning?

  • @Omgawdzbored If you put it in the tuning for I Need Something, then put it down 2 steps it's the same =] It's not too hard to work out!

  • What's the tapping thing from!? I MUST KNOW.

  • @Omgawdzbored its his intro from the album Rebuilt By Humans. he usually adds the tapping when he's playing live. part 1 of the video is what is on the album. hope that helped :)

  • i really want to play this and i've got all of it but can't quite get the tappy bit in the second part... can anyone help? please!!!

  • @MusicalDan95 I'll learn it, then do a little video lesson. or something.

  • @dajiaoma77777 that would be awsome

  • what is the first song? :-D

  • @SuperMattMiles It's the intro from the second album that goes into Badman. He also uses the second part live after he plays the second part and again, goes into Badman.

  • @dajiaoma77777 ah ok thanks :-D

  • hey ho skill in the ville newton! :-D

  • He is awesome.

  • what song is he playing in part 3?

  • @coolsam5000 The song he uses an extract from in the third part is "For God's Sake" It's not been recorded, but you can find a few live videos floating around on YouTube.

  • 2:01 !!! :OO

  • EASY AS THAT REALLY ISNT IT!!

  • this is sick!

  • Part 3 is just ridiculous. Incredible.

  • what's the part 3 song can anyone tell me? much obliged thanks!

  • What's the song from like 1 min onwards?

  • One guy is really jealous!

  • more peachesque!!! legend

  • my god... it's soooo hard!

  • no dislikes, so glad people have their heads on straight :)

  • @beckysmiles17 until some sad people decided to ruin that. always seems to be a few its very annoying

  • The tuning is Db Gb Db Gb Bb Db

And I think the reason he taps so loud is because he has percussion instruments on the inside of his guitar... i think (he mentioned something about at the end of his superstition video. Search for it ;)

  • @beany1324 It's actually Db Gb Db Gb Ab Db and he doesn't have percussive instruments on the inside of his guitar. He says that if he hits above the sound hole it sounds like a bass drum.

  • @beany1324 He doesn't have percussion instruments in his guitar. He uses the percussive elements of the guitar. It's also amplified a lot by the system in his guitar, the LR Baggs Dual Source.

  • How does he tap so loudly?

  • @thatguyoverthereFTW use your middle finger and pretty much smack the body of the guitar with the tip of your finger almost like theres something on your finger that you want to flick off. :)

  • which tuning is that

  • which is the tuning? thanks for the info ,,,eslo que estoy estudiando por ahora comencé con aerial baundury,,,,,,, esto esta interesante gracias..........

  • which song or songs is he playing here ?

  • @gibraltarify i know this is like 5 months on but anyway lol...its the intro from his album Rebuilt By Humans. the tapping is the longer version he does of it but this isnt on the album. he usually adds it when he plays live. hope that helped :)

  • @gibraltarify i know this is like 5 months on but anyway lol...part 1is the intro from his album Rebuilt By Humans. the tapping is the longer version he does of it but this isnt on the album. he usually adds it when he plays live. part 3 is a song called For God's Sake. this isnt out on an album yet... hope that helped :)

  • @gibraltarify - Badman.

  • Comment removed

  • @gibraltarify the first two are one of his intros to "badman" and the third one idk

  • @siriusblackgray The 3rd one is 'For God Sake' which he wrote and used to play live but its never been on an album for some reason

  • Comment removed

  • @gibraltarify intro to badman

  • The funny part is how he does six impossible things on the guitar, and my jaw has dropped, and *then* he says "and now the tricky bit is....".

  • My stepdad's brother was in Uni with this guy D:

  • so you start out with a, im sorry newton... im carent do that... im not god

  • @amylouthomas its actually C# F# C# F# G# C#

I think he uses that same tuning in all of the parts

  • whats the song at the beginning? is it badman?

  • Is Part 3 a song now? Anyone know?

  • 2:38 thats just cheating!!!

  • pure talent, does he play in standard tuning???

  • What is the song at 2:50?

  • I like part 3

  • Both parts 1 and 2 are the intros to Bad Man in his acoustic version

  • What guitar does he have, cos I always notice how it looks really cheap and crappy but sounds about 10x better than mine (which is cheap, but looks nice).

  • @spiffcorgi i'm pretty sure its a custom built benjamin JOM (jumbo orchestra model)

  • not really a guitar lesson is it? just him showing us what we can't do haha

  • What's the name of the song in part 2?

  • It's great when you re-stumble across a video and you remember thinking "I'll never be able to play that" but you've learned it and can almost play it as well as Newton can. Apart from part 4 though...still working on that...

  • @mallan824 please let me know if you work out the tuning... im just about to have another go at workin it out hahaha

  • In the first part the guitar is tuned to DGDGAD, the song is called 'untitled'. Search it and you'll find a lesson on it.

  • What tuning is the 1st part of the video in? Hope someone knows, thanks ~

  • @bakamund DADGAD

  • anybody know what part 4 is? or at least what tuning its in?? thanks

  • u can make endless tunes on acoustic guitar

  • What tunning is he using?

  • I need the tabs for Part 2? Anyone?

  • Comment removed

  • what is part 4 i need to learn that? D:

  • Ok so I looked up a bunch of "For God's sake" performances and it definitely does not sound like what he plays at 2:00 at all so I would like to know what song he's playing.

  • @Whatsupmydawg its the intro/verse to badman you can get tabs on it somewhere

  • 2:01

    What song is he playing?

  • Dammit, I must find the tabs for this! Where are they? :s

  • what's the third lesson, from? as in which song?

  • @JackSimpson94 "For God's Sake" it's not on either of his albums but there's a load of live videos on youtube. Trying to work it out from watching them.. Quite hard >.<

  • Great Videos here, Loving the uploads....Check out my channel

  • I idolise this man.

  • This Guy Is One Of The Most Amazing Guitarists I Have Ever Seen!

  • In the part 2 bit, What frets are the notes he's playing with his left hand? anyone got a tab? that would be brilliant :)

  • brilliant newton love ur hair XD

  • is the piece in part 4 a song?

  • Mr Faulkner! where are the Tabs and the correct finger pattern, this intro is fantastic but this video is hard to follow, slowing down and explaing it would help many Guitarists like me :-/

  • what is the part 2 section?

  • that part where he detunes his guitar, what song is that from?

  • @xmattvsmondayx For God's Sake. I've got a cover on my channel, it'd be awesome if you could check it out and let me know what you think :)

  • does anyone know if there is a tab for all this?

  • from 0:48 it is still the intro to the new album (but it isn't actually on the album). I've seen him live and he plays part one and part two together as his intro for the tour. Tuning is definitely C#F#C#F#G#C# just to confirm. :)

  • @mallan824 no its not

  • @Lombz yeah, I know, I keep forgetting to change this. It's useful of you to tell me I am wrong yet not shine some light on what the correct tuning is... It should be DGDGAD.

  • what song he is showing from 0:48 onwards?

  • I saw Newton Faulkner perform on Monday in Manchester and he opens with this. Absolutely amazing! Nobody is this good.

  • 2:00!!! FUCKING HELL ITS AMAZING!

  • I really appreciate him not using an electric acoustic for this- the percussive stuff actually kind of seems feasable now

  • Now that we've got so many opinions about the tuning, I might as well give it a shot too :)

    C#F#C#FG#C#

  • sorry...I correct that to

    C# F# C# F# G# C#

  • @mebood tanks man, that helped me a lot! Now it sounds good!

  • The tuning of the guitar is DGDGAD I use this tuning alot and it makes acoustics sound gorgeous especially. Hope this helps

  • @AdzDividedAttention no its not.............

  • dadgad tuning i reckon?

  • what tuning is the guitar in this?

  • Open C tuning, check out "John Butler Trio"- Ocean. Best Open C ever!!!! Newtons still the man though!!!

  • hes totally revolutionized a new way to play the guitar xD good singer too

  • @shadow0mega Not even close to revolutionising how to play a guitar. You need to check out Hedges, Ross, Roche, McKee, Mongrain (the list goes on). Some of those boys have been using a percussive technique for decades (when they were still alive).

  • as much as i agree with the amazing talent of those musicians, faulkner has created a new way to play percussion guitar that matches considerably popular genres of soft rock that those other musicians for the most part didn't

  • I enjoy Falwkners music (and have bought both his albums) but I don't agree he's created a new way to play percussive guitar....it's commercialised and popularised that style. Bit of a yawn debate, best just enjoy the music without over analysing.

  • its still an amazing and very difficult to perfect and its worth doing to establish your self as a brilliant guitarist.

  • @SMoore472 he didn't create shit you moron. all you can say about him is that he's good. THAT IS ALL. he isn't the inventor of the guitar

  • @clauclaux *hes god, its ok evryone makes spelling mistakes :)

  • @billy061061 i wanted to say good you... the other moron ...not anyone can read its ok...or not but thats not the point here...and if he is god....what is malmsteen?

  • @clauclaux Well he's no Jimi Hendrix :D but.. I think he created something his own and is so much better then just good! His guitar jamming has some real soul depth for me. :)

  • @SmokinMesa Newton Faulkner learnt to play the guitar from Eric Roche. Eric Roche was an insanely good guitarist.

  • @SmokinMesa

seen both ross and mckee live (they fucking played a whole gig together <3) an they were amazing, but faulkner certainly put a different spin on things with his alternative style

  • Are these videos available in DVD or something?

  • i really don't have the slightest clue... sorry! i found all of these here on YouTube actually and just decided to piece them together. i could make you an mp4 if you'd like though

  • Ah, that's cool man. Thanks for the offer. I can try to follow what you've already uploaded. Awesome stuff here!

  • They're from total guitar magazine.... you should try and find people with the original discs... i lost mine.... thanks for upping (Y)

  • np thanks for the info man

  • @SMoore472 could you do that for me please!

  • @w0sp0

yeah it's a dvd thing that comes with total guitar magazine, he often does these kinda videos with them :)

  • @w0sp0 Should use realplayer and download the video and then you can upload to a blank disc :)

  • @w0sp0 Try using realplayer mate, you can download any video and burn it to a blank dvd :)

  • @w0sp0 Think these came with the cd that comes free with Total Guitar, if so I've probably got them lying around somewhere, I'll see if I can dig them out and I'll let you know what issues they came with :)

  • Awesome guitar playing, so unique and distinctive.

  • Wonderful i know a person who was like me really glad when i show her
