@Tygranra He plays in F standard, which is a half step up from E, then Drops the E to D# and the A down to G# then the high E to D# and the B to A# or lol it sounds fantastic
@Omgawdzbored its his intro from the album Rebuilt By Humans. he usually adds the tapping when he's playing live. part 1 of the video is what is on the album. hope that helped :)
@SuperMattMiles It's the intro from the second album that goes into Badman. He also uses the second part live after he plays the second part and again, goes into Badman.
@coolsam5000 The song he uses an extract from in the third part is "For God's Sake" It's not been recorded, but you can find a few live videos floating around on YouTube.
And I think the reason he taps so loud is because he has percussion instruments on the inside of his guitar... i think (he mentioned something about at the end of his superstition video. Search for it ;)
@beany1324 It's actually Db Gb Db Gb Ab Db and he doesn't have percussive instruments on the inside of his guitar. He says that if he hits above the sound hole it sounds like a bass drum.
@beany1324 He doesn't have percussion instruments in his guitar. He uses the percussive elements of the guitar. It's also amplified a lot by the system in his guitar, the LR Baggs Dual Source.
@thatguyoverthereFTW use your middle finger and pretty much smack the body of the guitar with the tip of your finger almost like theres something on your finger that you want to flick off. :)

@gibraltarify i know this is like 5 months on but anyway lol...its the intro from his album Rebuilt By Humans. the tapping is the longer version he does of it but this isnt on the album. he usually adds it when he plays live. hope that helped :)

What guitar does he have, cos I always notice how it looks really cheap and crappy but sounds about 10x better than mine (which is cheap, but looks nice).
It's great when you re-stumble across a video and you remember thinking "I'll never be able to play that" but you've learned it and can almost play it as well as Newton can. Apart from part 4 though...still working on that...
Ok so I looked up a bunch of "For God's sake" performances and it definitely does not sound like what he plays at 2:00 at all so I would like to know what song he's playing.
@JackSimpson94 "For God's Sake" it's not on either of his albums but there's a load of live videos on youtube. Trying to work it out from watching them.. Quite hard >.<
Mr Faulkner! where are the Tabs and the correct finger pattern, this intro is fantastic but this video is hard to follow, slowing down and explaing it would help many Guitarists like me :-/
from 0:48 it is still the intro to the new album (but it isn't actually on the album). I've seen him live and he plays part one and part two together as his intro for the tour. Tuning is definitely C#F#C#F#G#C# just to confirm. :)
@Lombz yeah, I know, I keep forgetting to change this. It's useful of you to tell me I am wrong yet not shine some light on what the correct tuning is... It should be DGDGAD.
@shadow0mega Not even close to revolutionising how to play a guitar. You need to check out Hedges, Ross, Roche, McKee, Mongrain (the list goes on). Some of those boys have been using a percussive technique for decades (when they were still alive).
