This is up there with some of the most spectacular tornado footage out there. A lot of video is taken from the ground, and that's spectacular enough, but to be able to get video of a tornado from the air so you can see what it's doing on the ground from a safe enough distance is truly spectacular. This one also seemed to have a decently high cloud base, too. Out in the plains and farther west where things are drier, you can get these high cloud base tornadoes which are very beautiful.

But, A funnel cloud can be in contact with the ground without the condensation funnel being visible all the way to the ground. Thus making it a tornado. Indications of such touchdowns are debris and dust being kicked up.
