Whats with the guys mentioning the ZR1? You are aware that it has almost 700hp while these all have under 500? Also, ZR1 is only faster around tracks than M3, GT3 and GT-R are faster. People think ZR1 is so fast because it went around Nurburgring in 7:20, but they forget the fact that it did that lap on super-slick track tires (even the chevrolet themselves say it). On non-slick tires it does 7:38, while GT-R does it in 7:24 in semi-wet, while fastest 911 (GT2) does it in 7:18.
He couldn't change up, it's a safety default until the ESP is happy the car has sufficient traction it won't allow the gear change. Hence the delay in change after he'd pulled the paddle.

wow, Chris's times are pretty slow compared to every other car show (both european and American) I've ever seen. His 0-60 for the m3 was 0.5-1.0 second slower than the best I've read elseehere, and the GT-R has consistently been timed at 3.3 seconds in the 0-60 times by several other sources.
@TargetRender Remember he was on the rev limiter in 1st gear for half a second before he shifted into 2nd gear, and he was with a camera man that probably weight 90kg or more. Without the camera man and late shifting, a stock 09 gtr will do 0-100mph in 8 sec flat.

99% OF us use are cars on the road most of the time, heavy traffic, start stopping etc etc, 20 miles of motorway normally blocked back on to main road, crawling at 15mph for the next mile and a half into tthe car park and im at work.
Thats 5 days a week, my car vauxhall vectra cdti 1.9 150bhp average 44mpg.
If i used one of these cars i doubt i would see 10mpg.
Awesome car and puts a smile on my face everytime I drive my GT-R. The game has moved on and doesnt matter if others catch up. What Nissan has done is fantastic and inpiring. Well done Carlos....

The problem about the skyline is, that it is not reliable ... Here in Germany with non limit Autobahn the gearbox overheats after a fast run... That happends to my fend who owns a GT-R as well as the testers on the Nordschleife ! Since my Buddy owns this car, it was more often at the Nissan trader than on the Streets. He will defnately sell it when the warentee is over. But if it works it really pushes lke hell and you will get a Cayman from Porsche for the money the Nissans costs ...

Only reason it isn't called that is because Nissan's marketing dept in Japan felt that now that the "Skyline GTR" was becoming more expensive, they didn't want it confused w/ the normal Skyline (aka Infiniti G37). But it IS the successor to the Skyline obviously!
@Vlacuga91 Since this R35 model, GTR doesn't share any componets with Skyline(Jap's ver of Infiniti G). Nissan gave a bran new engine, chassis, double clutch trans with trans axle layout. They are completely different from Skyline and that's why they dropped "Skyline" and named it "GTR" instead of "R35 Skyline GT-R"

I've owned BMW M3s and Porsche and just got a Nissan GT-R. The GT-R is King Godzilla of the performance car segment right mow at 30% less the cost. Even better it has great driver communication dynamics. A new top bar is now set. Lol the GT3 Is not the best 911. The GT3 0-60 In 4.1 seconds or so. And the 911 997 GT2 Will do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. The 997 gt2 will whoop that Nissan. The 911 gt2 will also do 208 mph top speed. the Nissan only id still have the M3 Though. that car is mind blowing its the most advanced V8 On the market and maybe even ever. @Rukus023 GT40 is probably one of the only decent american car which can rival our european cars/japanese performance cars. It seems to be the trend that american car manufacturers focus on adding weight and power, instead of adding lightness and response/handling which european/japanese manufacturers do. Its probably because you guys have far too many straight roads instead of the nice twisty country lanes us europeans and japanese have.

stop calling it a skyline -> its just called the Nissan GTR. They dropped the skyline name for the gtr after the r34. Now Nissan have the skyline range which is separate from the high performance GTR range.

@imking7 Actually it IS a skyline for all intents and purposes. Only reason it isn't called that is because Nissan's marketing dept in Japan felt that now that the "Skyline GTR" was becoming more expensive, they didn't want it confused w/ the normal Skyline (aka Infiniti G37). But it IS the successor to the Skyline obviously!

@Vlacuga91 Since this R35 model, GTR doesn't share any componets with Skyline(Jap's ver of Infiniti G). Nissan gave a bran new engine, chassis, double clutch trans with trans axle layout. They are completely different from Skyline and that's why they dropped "Skyline" and named it "GTR" instead of "R35 Skyline GT-R"

one thing i hated about communist ruler like north korean, is that he does not allow his people to see western media, and he own the biggest collection of american movies.Americans talk bad about cars like the GTR- because it is a nissans and we don't realize that 75% of the cars that we choose to buy are imported japanese cars. and i assume that we buy those cars for a reason. i think we would buy american instead of japanese if they wer better in thinkgs like economy, gas and reliability.

american technogy has been based on lavishness rather than intelligence. most of the development happens when we hire foreign engineers and scientis and pay them well. we invest inmense amounts of money and produce a product that can be produced with much less money. and we call that the best in the world. now that we have sacrificied the economic factor we realize where we really stand. owr people need to go back to school and create new technology instead of hiring foreigner to bring theirs.

As an american, i would buy american cars if i felt they gave me the world class thrill that i look for in a car. that means looks, performance, reliability and race track compatability. i bought a porsche for that. i have to admit that the latest ZR1 is the first of american production that has cought my attention, but i already have the porsche, maybe in another couple years once i see that there is not too many problems with oil leaks as previous corvettes my friends have owned.

"americans have fallen behind inrespect of auto mechanical or technological engineering. the GT-R although i don't like how it looks, has now established a new benchmark, that can only be beat with extremely expensive or modified cars. american auto industry is in the pits, and it is sad, we must admit if we are to regain the competative edge. it is our very arroganse that got us here

I've owned BMW M3s and Porsche and just got a Nissan GT-R. The GT-R is King Godzilla of the performance car segment right mow at 30% less the cost. Even better it has great driver communication dynamics. A new top bar is now set. The consumer will win when the next king is determined if the whole market segment is not outlawed by the green movement.

Lol the GT3 Is not the best 911. The GT3 0-60 In 4.1 seconds or so. And the 911 997 GT2 Will do 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. The 997 gt2 will whoop that Nissan. The 911 gt2 will also do 208 mph top speed. the Nissan only id still have the M3 Though. that car is mind blowing its the most advanced V8 On the market and maybe even ever. And it is so accurate and composed. and so Fun to drive. Great value for money love that BMW im gonna get one soon maybe. Cant afford the Porsche's. The Nissan is amazing 2

The Nissan has been known to get 0 - 60's of 3.3 the GT2 has a top speed of 205 mph, and is a couple of seconds slower round the ring than the Nissan. So no, it won't whoop the Nissan.
