man he is my idol and my hero! I enjoy listening to his music and every time I do listen to it, it helps me get better because his words always have a message to it and I can relate to some of the songs.
Also seeing him active in all he does and puts forth every effort he can is really awesome :'D
Old Michael W Smith's was the best stuff because it was so spontaneous and fresh. The album plays this song slightly slower which was released before this concert. They picked it up here and it has so much more energy. I love this song and the others they have on Michel W Smith 2 album. What ever happened to the other song that was played with this one? Restless Heart. I am greatly attached to these oldies but goodies. Great Post
I actually seen some other footage of this same concert back in the early 90's and Smith plays the drums sticks on the bass guitar and does an incredible bass solo while the bass player holds the guitar. Thats been done by others but I had not seen anything like it before that.
Please post "Too Many Times." Thanks in advance! But I like this song along with Project 1 and 2 and The Big Picture... Michael is simply the best. I love him then, when I was just 19. I love him still, now that I'm 43. He's Heaven sent! Keep it up, Michael W. Smith!
lol. Interestingly the dude in the pink is Mark Heimerman who is most noted for his numerous production for DC Talk's cd's. ;-) The Drummer is David Huff who went on to be in the Secular rock band "Giant" with his brother and guitar extroidanaire Dan Huff. The long coat dude on guitar is Wayne Kirpatrick who co-wrote "Change the World" for Eric Clapton. small world.
Eye to Eye is probably my favorite album (Live The Life comes in a close second). There is concert video from The Big Picture tour that came out in 1986 (2 years before Eye to Eye) and another from Change Your World that came out in 1992 (4 years after Eye to Eye). The Change Your World concert is fun. I've seen Michael 16 time in concert (between 1985 and 1999). Change Your World was a really fun concert and there are several videos from that concert on YouTube.
I also prefer Michael W Smith's first two albums, as well as his early keyboard work for Amy Grant. His music at that stage had a quality about it very similar to classical music, with nice analog synthesizer sounds and inventive touches. But this concert version... Yeeeechhh! I hate it when he tries to 'jazz' things in his music. I dont know, something about the first two albums and their lack of over-production just makes them shine.
Thanks for posting this video. Michael W Smith's first 2 albums in the 80's are my favorites. If you have videos if MWS's 80's concert please post them. I wanna see videos of "I Am Sure", "The Way" and "End of the Book". God bless You!

I saw this on GTV (God TV) almost 25 years ago. I probably still have it on a VHS somewhere.

I saw this show in Houston at UofH...Kathy Troccoli was on tour with him. This was one of the shows that inspired me to become a musician.

Man, this is hilarious. I love the dude in the pink in the background who mostly just claps. He's priceless at 4:11.

I saw him in concert during mid 2005 and it was the best concert I ever attended. He said he dislikes the way he wore his hair back in the 80's. LOL
