  • Hear what God of Israel YAHUSHUA-YAHUWAH (Son and Father are ONE) saying to our generation by His chosen prophets: Trumpetcallofgodonline. com ; Letter called "Purify Your Faith, and Come to the Father as It is Written": EXCERPT: "Only in the Bible and through these very Letters, of which I have given to My prophet of the end of this age, shall you find Him and know Him."

  • WHAT A POST......BAMMMMM...AND IM 18 AGAIN ...

The Church were the essence of 80s indie pub culture and i was in the thick of it

THANKS..for the walk down memory lane

Steve Killbey was a class act and was often overlooked as a brilliant songwriter and Andy Wilson Piper managed to distil the 60s psychedelic era thru his look and sound and we all wanted to look and dress like him (if truthfull).Total class act......

  • so how can we get the whole starfish album up here?

  • LEGENDS.

  • Starfish what a great album!!!!

  • Is that a Fender Bass VI????? OMG I love it..

  • Wow, just beautiful and haunting, thank you so much.....

  • They performed this when I saw them. Back in the good old days!

  • First song I heard by the Church. Hundreds more followed. :)

  • I have loved this song for 22 years and have never heard it live until now. It was far better than I could have hoped.

    Seriously great performance.

  • MWP says all electric-see you at slims S.F.

  • I can't wait to see those Ricky's and strats adorning the stage at The Belly Up!! It will be a,... well, a religious experience!! I got to meet the band there years ago and have seen em live about 3 times there!! I think I will go into uncrontrolled spasms when they play Tantalized?

  • thanks for posting this

  • There have been some rumblings about a U.S. tour in the works. Let's hope they hit the Belly Up soon!!!

  • This wa the first Church song that I ever really heard. Because a freind smoked me out.. Put it on the stereo and said , You gotta hear the new Church album. And I was hooked!!! I of course then went on to discover Blurred, Heyday, etc.. But this song has a "special " memory. Oh, I think this was filmed at the Belly -Up in San Diego. I was there at this show, and have seen em everytime they come through S.D. They must like this venue? Please come back in 09!!!

  • Hey THE CHURCH!!! come to Serbia

  • Is this at Brick by Brick?

My buddies band played thers all the time back in the day.

Oh God I miss the day!

  • One of the best guitar tandems of all time! Just listening and watching them attack this song from different angles amazes me.

  • great stuff froggy...it is difficult to find live material from the boys. And this is a classic!

  • 1st question : what year was this?

2nd question: why on Earth was I not there!?!

  • 1/ 1998

2/ If you could you should have been there, you're unforgivable.

  • @chargergirl85 it was 1998, and you had to work that night

  • I've always been a faithful Church goer!

    <:-)

  • The term underrated sees perhaps too much use these days but this song, and band, really are.

    Thanks allot for posting this.

  • Did you notice that Tim Powles doesn't get the drums intro, it seems that Steve helps him to follow the Ploog beat that was on Starfish.

  • Reminds me of the first time I saw the Church in Brisbane when Powles had just joined. He was excellent with the songs he had recorded with the band but was struggling with the material he had never performed. He soon overcame that though - the last time I saw them about 18 months ago he was drumming better than ever!

  • Exacly one year old today

  • Thanks for the video, but what was the camera guy smoking?

  • BRANO STREPITOSO. ECCEZZIONALI

  • Italian's music lovers always had a great musical taste. Some bands, mistreated by the english press found in Italy a sanctuary. Right now I'm remembering of Genesis and their 2nd album 'Nursery Cryme'.

New Order also played there, when nobody like them.

  • 'Stampa Alternativa' independent label has released a very beautiful book about Joy Division and the Staglieno Cemetery. That release include a 3" CD with the Joy Division's first recordings!

I hope you've understood my (very rusty) english...

  • every song i ripped from this tape is available at violettown dotnet plus more!!

  • Yeah I downloaded a lot of videos from violettown, thanks a lot, in the past time but did you get the whole concert?, i mean there are a few videos missing like Buffalo or Louisiana...

  • Poetry. Fine playing. Fine singing. One of the best bands ever. From dear old Sydney. Love 'em. If you're new to them, check out 27 years of The Church and weep.

  • "in the space between our bodies

the air has grown small fingers..."

    A poem!!!

    What a unique musical style...

Who played like that in 1988? eh?

  • Try 'The Sound' and 'The Chameleons'. New Order had great poems, too. So great that sometimes saved a whole song. True Faith is just an example.

  • Yeah, True Faith has some remarkable lines, StillCloser.

I also recall Vanishing Point and that one when Sumner says

"when you got what you don´t need"

    that´s in Technique too..

    cheers

  • The Sound 'Into The Lions Mouth' is fantastic! I still have the album from way back when. The 80's were great, musically!

  • Yeah they still perform together Volgadon! They toured Europe, Australia and US acoustic only in 2006,and they return in Europe in April electric.Hope to catch them at The Paradiso, Amsterdam ,20th April. If not in England. They went to France in 2004 that was an excellent concert.

p.s:That particular show was in support of "Hologram Of Baal" in 1998.

  • In the space between our houses :D what year was this when they performed? Are they still together?

  • One of the best opening songs on one the all-time best cds!!! The Church rule!!!!

  • It's funny - I share your opinion! I've loved the 'Heyday' LP and when I saw this one on the record's shops I bought it immediately!

I think that Starfish is their third. The first one is 'Carrere' - An unknown stranger.

  • Starfish came after 4 full length records and 3 EP's. Carrere was the name of the European Record Label they were on, not a title of a record.

  • Thanks for posting this great song. it's my all time favorite church song!
