  • i've never seen what I would call -for lack of better description-sideways plowing. It seems to be and english thing? how many tracks plowed this way? Was this the norm for many years? Are there any American tractors that do this too? Interesting video!

  • The idea is that you have a set of two engines, one at each side of the field and a plough in between on the wires, as the two engines pull the plough to and fro they can move forward after each plough.

    They didn't want to have to drive the engines over the field so taht they didn't compact it any more than they needed to.

    After the modern tractor was invented, which was lighter, there was no more need.
