The sun has been cooling the past few years and is all due to solar cycles. Solar activity determines earths weather not CO2. Scientists have discovered the greenland ice is 2 degrees below what it was in the "medieval warm period". The antarctic ice has grown 30% in just the last few years. Climate Change is NORMAL...heating and cooling trends will continue to take place long after were gone. If you have a hotter than average summer, humans are not the cause. ONE volcano puts out more CO2 than humans in a lifetime. We have no control over what this huge world does. Nobody wants to tackle the real earth problems like dumping nerve gas and countless chemicals in the oceans every year. Instead they want to tax you more for something we cannot control.

The sun has been cooling the past few years and is all due to solar cycles. Solar activity determines earths weather not CO2. Scientists have discovered the greenland ice is 2 degrees below what it was in the "medieval warm period". The antarctic ice has grown 30% in just the last few years. As i said before, heating and cooling trends will continue long after were gone. Its just ridiculous they want to tax the world for something we have no control over. It must be exposed bottom line.

I might create a program in my comunity where our trash is sorted, we recycle what we can, organics either get composted or burned for electricity, the carbon dioxide is sequestered, and the ash is all that's left. We could either compost that or send it to the landfill.

yes its great to have better way of energy and recycle, but there is no reason to tax everything including breathing which is what this carbon tax will do. Global Warming is a fraud...The Medieval warm Period was much warmer than what we see today. Scientists have proved that the greenland ice is 2 degrees cooler on average now than during the Medieval Warm Period. The polar bear population has increased over the last 5 years. The antarctic ice is growing in size while they tell you its melting.

Sorry, National Geographic. You failed once too many times with promoting this liberal "green" crap. All "green" does is make guilty people feel better about themselves. Sure, promoting cleaner air around cities by reducing emissions is good (for one example), but things like recycling are just plain hoaxes invented as a result of an inaccurate EPA report from the 80s that even the EPA admits was wrong. The "green" thing is just an extensions of this original movement. Epic fail. I unsubscribed.

Nice sentiment, but based purely in hype. We have exponentially more trees in the US than in the 1920s (and not just little ones, but big ones) due to our demand for new paper. Recycling, even though it is popular and trendy to believe in it, is actually more costly and less "green" than simply throwing away our trash.

That's true, there are some items (ie: aluminum cans and batteries) that actually save money. Yet most other consumable packaging such as plastic, cardboard, etc. costs less to dispose of in landfills. And actually, it's better to dispose of biodegradable items in our regular trash ONLY. Landfills have systems to siphon off methane created from their garbage to help power electrical generators.

Gothic, yup, there's nothing wrong with conservation as it's generally good for many things. But if this is done purely to save "landfill space", then that itself is a fallacy. Conservation is good since we have limited resources on Earth. It doesn't hurt to use only what we comfortably need. I don't think anyone would agree with excess in the name of laziness. Unfortunately, competition to earn profits involves printing those pictures on boxes. To change, human nature needs to change first.
