okay guys let's clear this up. the way lucas saw it was: there's already anger, hate and suffering in the universe and the jedi are there to counteract that creating a balance between good and evil. when the sith are around however it creates even MORE anger, hate and suffering causing the force to become unbalanced in favor of the dark side of the force. in order to "bring balance" to the force the sith had to be wiped out.

Actually Anakin did fulfill his destiny. He brought balance to the force. He culled the number of jedi down to very few. Him and Sidious being the Sith, brought it to an even number in the force with light and darkside. That is balance, not overwelming lightside with no darkside. Obviously the Jedi never understood the true meaning behind the word "balance".

As long as the Sith were in the galaxy, fear, anger, hatred, suffering, death and destruction were there and that meant "fucking up the balance", right? The Sith always tempted Jedi to turn to the Dark Side and many became Sith Lords... This was what was happening in the galaxy for thousands and thousands of years. Balance in the Force meant destroying the Sith, their religion and their all philosophies.

@jbwell24 The only Star Wars character I know who wanted to "destroy the Force" was Darth Traya (Arren Kae/Kreia) from the game KotOR 2. But destroying the Force was equivalent with destroying the essence of Life itself and destroying the Universe (-> the Force was responsible for the creation of the Universe and Life). So the philosophy of "killing the Force" was so fucked-up and no other Sith Lord after Traya had this way of thinking. It was impossible to achieve such a goal.

But Lucas' original idea was for Anakin to get his limbs chopped off by Obi Wan, however it was Obi Wan's reflex, he only wanted to disarm Anakin. And by lack of limbs Anakin ends up falling into a pool of molten sulfur. The emperor fishes him out shortly. But he does fall in.

There's the part where Anakin has one of the strongest sets of force powers in the galaxy next to the Emperor - who saves him remember? There's the part where he WAS a crisp. He has a cybernetic body - because 3/4 of his internal organs are gone, replaced with cyborg organs, & he's probably missing 9/10ths of his skeleton. Oh man, this brings back so many memories. My father grew up with Starwars, and he brought me to episode 1 when I was a little boy. Anakin, the boy who wanted to become a jedi.. I was kind of shocked to see him turn into the greatest Sith Lord (Greatest because he killed the emperor). I deeply love Starwars. It has everything including politics relating war. I just hope the new generations will enjoy it as much as I did.
