Good to see a youngster that is into old audio gear!
The 8 track deck you have in this video (perhaps you know this) was manufactured for Magnavox by JVC. The same deck with different meters was sold through Radio Shack in 1971 as a Realistic Model TR8, and through Allied in Late 1970 (part of the 1971 line-up right after the tragic merger of Allied and Radio Shack). I still have my TR8! Great Stuff! Keep at it! Cheers!
I have a little Radio Shack amp like that I have had since I was a kid the plastic that goes over the power switch is broken love these presentations Rickey .... let see more the Arvin reel to reel was neat ................
i think that magnavox 8-track deck is from 1971 because i saw that deck on ebay with a magnavox stereo console and the description said it was purchase in 1971.
I also like the song heard @ 3:17 i think the third song on the second tape that you put in and before the fast track that you have on the tape i think thats fleetwood mac, the oldest piece of audio equipment that i have is my magnavox ghetto blaster boombox and the newest piece is my iPod, plus i have a pioneer supertuner car stereo and is hooked up and it works, i built the speakers that are hooked up to it
Good Tune @ 1:17 and Nice Setup, I have alot of audio equipment but not as old as the stuff you have, the oldest piece of audio equipment that I own is this big "Ghetto Blaster" boombox made by Magnavox and its pretty loud but the audio is distorted when its up all the way, I run it with the bass just under half way and its fine, I have a video of it playing nirvana's smells like teen spirit but i dunno about uppinn it to youtube b/c i dont wanna get flagged
Thanks for all your comments on my Betamax videos, I have more to come!! I like your vintage audio vid, I had a JC Penney 8-track recorder that I used for years and years!! I loved the format but succuumed to cassette!! videoholic2007
Howdy, I have the real Radio Shack 8-track player that matches your "beginer" amp. I bought it in Augusta Maine in 1977, from rad shack, Whooping cost was $19.99 plus tax. I have over 1200 tapes ! The thing every once in a while eats the rubber band drive, I have only demagnetized the head, and cleaned with alchol, I don't think the old "scuffy" headcleaner were good for players ( with 30 years time on it, I guess that point is not debateable is it?) what you think
Awesome 5/5!
Check my vintage audio ;)

I wonder if those speakers came with that amplifier when you bought the amplifier.

No, I had bought the speakers years before I found the amp.

I had a setup kind of like that, though with a record player, until my 8-Track recorder mysteriously stopped working not that long ago.
Sometime I'll figure out what's wrong with it because I loved being able to record on them.

You're right. The song at 3:17 is Fleetwood Mac.
