i have witnessed 1st HAND that shelters only give pitbulls a week or 2 after they become adoptable , to be adopted ! i visited a shelter witha friend & seen a husky , shitzu mix, and a sheperd mix , my friend ask how long they had been ? they said husky 5 weeks , sheperd mix 2 months, & shitzu mix 1 2 weeks ! well we also ask about some pit & pit mixes ?? to our surprise none were there more than 20 days ! we come about 2 weeks later we come back....

Most Shelters are Non-Government funded & only survive off of Donations. Puppies of all breeds are Killed, nobody said it is right. But I don't see u talking about the $THOUSANDS$ used to save Lives either. Not all Shelters are as quick to kill Pits as Other, really depends on where u live. Problem still begins w/ the Breeder.

Basically the foundation of ALL pit bulls come from these guys. For example the Colby bloodline which is still strong today you can visit their website. Leo Kinyard owned 300 dogs at one time w/ hired hands helping him care for them back around the 50's or so.

It was outlawed in the '70's; Bert Sorrels fought it in the California legislature. Then, the real jerks took over, and the druggies and violent men were attracted to it. I don't see that fighting dogs is acceptable in any era, even if it wasn't illegal. I've broken up kennel fights and it wasn't enjoyable to see, so I wouldn't purposely set up a fight. I am a hunter but I only do it to supplement groceries, not for the sport of it. I also don't see that what the legends did made the Pitbull any better. When dogs are domesticated and trained that is what makes a good breed.
