in aurthurs brithday he invited alot of peoples and aurthur said to binky is fat and binky barns and aurthur have a big fite and they came so so big friends
The best episode of Season 13 and one of the best of the newer Arthur episodes.
IMO of course, but you gotta commend a kids show that actually has the guts to talk about a subject like cancer, whereas other kids shows would just pretend it doesn't exist.
one thing I like about arthur is that the show has always had its share of "very special episodes"- they did an episode about asthma, they did this episode about cancer, they did an episode about head lice, they did an episode where buster explains his parents divorce. i can't think of any other cartoon that does episodes like this.
Arthur is a really, REALLY wonderful show. It has a lot of great humor for kids, it teaches all kinds of things... When they want to do an episode just for the fun of it, they can (Watch "The Contest" if you don't believe me) but this... They can handle a very mature and important topic without being condesending. Thank you PBS kids, through all the wreckage of great kids shows, Arthur shines true and proud
I wish they can make new episodes. I always watch Arthur right when I get home from school, but to see the same episodes over and over again kind of bores me.
This episode should be very moving, I just hope I don't cry too much because my father died of bone cancer last November, I had a classmate who died of stomach cancer a year after we graduated from high school, some neighbors and as well as some special church members have it too, yes I am 25 but I still and always will love this series becuase I used to read the books and now I do both regardless of my age, great job Marc Brown in deciding to deal with this topic!
I really am proud of PBS for this episode I watched it with my nephews and was happy with the way it was broken down for kids to understand. I love PBS!
Why out of all people, ms. macgrady??? Why not some one new, some one they never mentioned. Some one who has been in many arthur episodes getting cancer, I dont think its fair.
omg this is so friggin sad.... i love the arthur series and i have been watching wen i was younger and i luv Mrs. Macgrady it aint fair she has cancer
My mother died of cancer when I was an infant (now 21) and I was so pleased to hear about this. Until I found that the PBS station in my area WON'T be showing this one here... They are showing other Arthur episodes to replace it. Major disappointment.
I know, I'm annoyed too. My local station showed this yesterday and it said in schedule listings that they would be showing it the rest of the week, but they're *not*. I recorded today's airing because I wanted to check some stuff and I got "D.W.'s Deer Friend / Buster Hits the Books" instead.
He first had cancer in 1996 at age 25. Many people and his doctors thought that he wouldn't make it because it spread to his brain, his lungs and his stomach. But with chemotherapy, operations and a ton of love, he won his battle with the awful disease.

Seriously, Arthur's still stuck in 3rd grade :(

@BoogsterSU2
It's because if they age the characters, the main core audience (the kiddies) won't be able to identify with them.
Sure, we longtime fans would love it, but we're not the core audience of Arthur.

if it helps I'm almost positive she's gonna beat it, they're not gonna kill smomeone off in a show geared towards 3rd graders.

How come in the episode where binky bikes, lance armstrong's character is named 'vance legstrong' and in this episode, it's back to lance armstrong?

probably because they didn't have permission for his name, but then he probably found out and was like, i'll do it :D
