  • thats glock for you

  • But I was able to shoot the weapon and it did not take me out of the fight. I am sure it was not safe but still operated fine. Operated so well I didn't know it was broke. I took it to a Glock Armor and he didn't have any springs. Told me they cost about a nickle, so I order one on line and it cost about seven bucks. The new on was much thicker and I was able to replace it with ease, by watching a you tube video. It was not rocket science. I have shot it ever since with out fail.

  • I shot about 3000 rounds through my Glock 19 when the slide lock spring broke. I was at the range shooting with a few of my buddies. The lane bench had several Glocks and boxes of ammo on it. I notice the slide stop next to a box of ammo. I thought it was just a piece of trash. I continue to fire my Glock 19 and ran about another 100rds through it. It was my buddy that picked up the piece of medal that I thought was trash and said "OH NO!" We examined all the Glocks and discovered it was my G19

  • A broken Glock is a dead man's hand.

  • What happens if he shot a round through it?

  • Great video. I have just started owning and shooting Glocks, 17 & 19. I asked a Glock armorer what parts could break and cause the gun to be non-working, this part was one of them. Now I have spares. I have S&W semis with 20k + rounds through them without a problem, glad to see I can expect the same kind of performance with the Glocks. Spare parts are essential. I have done the same for my S&W's and for 20+ years have not had to change a broken part.

  • sig > glock.

  • @cfezuwm Glock > Anything else :D

  • Geez 14,000 rounds and something finally broke, that's pretty reliable.

  • @sinner175

you are a fool and can't read..

I can't believe I wasted my time attempting to communicate with you.. I won't make that mistake again

you are no longer welcome here

  • bashin a glock..NO NO

  • Only a us soldier would answer "negative" when asked if a gun was operational

  • @shootcentermass

if you think we treat all our 'subscribers' with anything less than respect I am glad you left.

we treat looser trolls, a-holes and dinks with less than respect, in hopes they will leave.. feel free to join them somewhere else.

but why just un-sub? why not quit watching our vids ?

  • Great video thanks!! I just bought my first pistol, a Glock 21. I wouldn't know the first thing about something going wrong like this. So should I have my pistol checked and serviced by Glock...how does that work, because I wanna have my Glock in perfect working order at all times and I dont want to have it KABOOOM.

  • @damon323

this is a 10,000 round failure if I recall correctly .. so at some point you should replace all the springs, but not anytime soon with a new pistol

  • @GunWebsites If you purchase a gun certified pre-owned from the manufacturer (like a red box Sig) would you assume it has a new recoil spring or would you probably put a new one in after a couple thousand rounds?

  • Any pistols made in the USA worth looking at. Everyone seems so immersed into the Austrian Glock. Any USA maker as good as Glock??? I want to buy, but I like the idea of supporting manufacturing done here in the USA...

  • @goofydog2

    S&W M&P

  • @GunWebsites FNP is made in the US too.

  • Wow, I think I have this same problem - but only after 100 rounds. Yes 100. The slide release lever is very loose and won't stay "up" unless I stick a small screwdriver in the side and "pull" the spring up. It isn't broken, just looks like it has jammed in the opening? It isn't really a spring, just a flat metal bent piece. The slide acts just as in this video. Crap I just purchased this G27 not too long ago. How easy is it to get new spring, and/or should I try to make the space bigger x-acto?

  • @mokyan7

have glock armorer look at it

it is an $8 part, if it is broke replace it..

  • @mokyan7 i would give glock a call and see if they can help you they probably will fix it just or cover the cost of an armorer just an idea

  • "Out of the fight".....?...Ok, whatever.

  • @big92fs

    nice mindset

  • and thats why my first pistol was a glock that and i shoot better with a glock than anything els

  • Maybe you guys can help: I'm thinking about buying a friends glock21 (he's never fired it) he bought it used as an investment gun. But, the slide release has some issues. It will lock the slide back, but it's extremely hard to depress/release the slide. If I field strip it, the release is very loose (feels like the spring is worn out). The gun still fires accurately, but without a loaded mag in I can't drop the slide without manually pulling back on the slide, and pressing the lever> any clue?

  • @wanastunt

Easy enough to fix / test.. just get the new part for like $15 or something and see if it works better again.. some stores will install it for you if you are not comfortable swapping it out

  • @wanastunt

That's supposed to be like that. On the Glock, that control is a slide lock, not a slide release which is why it's so flat in the first place (easy to push up, not so easy to push down). The idea is to rack the slide after inserting a new magazine. That said, you can buy an "extended slide release" which will make it easier to use as a slide release.

  • @pbs357 I've owned a glock 27, and glock 17 before I bought the 21. Granted it's not like a Springfield xd, but on both guns I could release the slide with out pulling back on it. This was a definite malfuntion of the part itself. The Glock armorer that looked at it said it simply wore out. I did go with the glock extended slide relase, and ended up liking it better anyway. It was $20 I didn't mind spending.

  • I was at the range today shooting my Glock 19. The slide lock spring failed and the side locked fell out of the weapon. I was sharing a lane with a few friends and noticed the slide lock on the bench. But I paid it no mind, thought it was just trash. About 200 rounds later I picked it up and said, "oh shit"! So, I disagree with the video. If your Glock slide lock spring breaks. It does not take you out of the fight. My Glock 19 kept preforming well. But at the range (for safety) stop shooting.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh and he'll have to take his Glock to himself to get it fixed lmafo

  • @ASSDECUBITUS WTF?! Toyota is absolutly retarded! Why don't you buy a fuckin' American made car that will last. Oh and why don't you get this country an economy boost! All that buying a foreign car will do is take away American jobs! So shut the fuck up!

  • Holy smokes, I thought he was talking about his Chevy Truck breaking @ 14,000 miles -- That $hit is normal, buy a Ford next time and you get to buy a new Truck even sooner.

Glock is the Toyota Tacoma of the gun world. Nothing fancy & works when you need it too.

  • Hmm, strange. I know of guys who have had 200,000 rounds before parts breakage in their glocks.

  • @megahurts2 LOL!!! 200,000 rounds? I call B.S. Nothing in a glock will last that long.

  • @MAXEDOUT2009 If you take care of it, it can last that long. Just ask Dr. Ignatius Piazza at Front Sight. He showed all sorts of people including a few instructors that I know who are now LEOs(for example).

Granted you don't want to run a Glock that long without changing out certain parts for the sake of good go to gun. Piazza just wanted to see how long it would go before it died/needed new parts.

  • one in a million

  • my dad's glock 20 blew up on him, and i mean litterally blew up... slide blew off, we couldn't find the recoil spring, and the barrel was about fifteen feet away, the mag buttplate blewout, and 10mm rounds went everywhere, and the slide rails were bent. then he baught a new glock 19 and another 20, and both work fine, we still have the shell thet blew up, the whole back of the casing had just blown off...

  • @BSA305 thats scary as hell than

  • thats an easy fix

  • @mrtymemxpx

    yup

  • what about that 14001 tango/new paperweight huh ? ok ok i'm chain yanking pretty good mileage

  • 14,000 rounds before a failure that disables the weapon.

Nice. Makes me feel better about my next gun choice being a Glock.

  • Legendary Reliability.... I bought a Glock 26 First time at the range the slide release spring broke and my slide fell and hit the ground. I had to send it in to Glock in Georgia and wait 6 - 8 weeks to get it back. My Smith and Wesson Sigma 9mm is still going strong after about a thousand rounds.

  • @seankazmark

Slide release has nothing to do with the retention of the slide..

  • @seankazmark - Sure does when you point the gun downward.

  • @seankazmark

A different part holds the slide on the frame of a Glock, you are not correct

  • @GunWebsites - Those would be called "Slide Rails" so you are incorret. I am talking about the liitle lever you pull down that even the GLOCK booklet labels as "Slide Release Lever"

  • @seankazmark

Oh I thought you were talking about the Slide Lock. That was obviously a bad spring then, hardly an issue worth dismissing an entire line of pistols

  • @GunWebsites Its ok, I thought I was wrong for a minute and so I consulted the manual before I looked like a dumbass with his foot in his mouth. We just didnt have an understanding what we were discussing. Anyways My gun is still in Georgia getting fixed at GLOCK :(

  • @seankazmark

I'm too accustomed to hearing people call the slide control the "release"

Sorry for the assumption on my end that caused the misunderstanding

Too bad you couldn't find a Glock Armorer in your area, it's not a difficult fix. I be the factory is a busy place these days

  • @GunWebsites How do you become a Glock armorer?

  • @jmk1a1

Glock offers a one day course. The schedule is on the website.

  • @GunWebsites I am a Civilian so I also had to join the GSSF. Cheap enough though and lots of privileges and perks that go along with it.

  • @seankazmark :D A sigma still going after a thousand rounds deserves its own video. Tell you what sport, how about some video footage of the broken Glock and this super sigma piece of shit you are talking about.

  • Good to know.... I'm sure my 35 will reach 14,000 rounds at some point.

  • damn 14,000..it must be nice too be in the military lol

  • @fight007

    We are NOT military.

That was 14,000 out of his pocket, no one pays his ammo bill for him

FYI, most military (and LEO) shoot less than many recreational shooters.

  • why did he say it was out of battery?

  • @MrPeppyjack

Firearms jargon for "a bullet in the chamber properly"

  • @GunWebsites thanks

  • Over 10k through my 92FS Inox and it still spits fire flawlessly.

  • you probably assembled the gun wrong, mr. glock armorer.

  • @ 12GaugeLosAngeles

Tell me how would one assemble the slide lock spring wrong?

  • The spring can go over the locking block pin as easily as it's supposed to go under. Inserted the slide lock before the top pin can cause the confusion. I've done that before, the tension is less and i can tell the difference, thanks.

  • obviously not the case as seen in the video..

not sure what you are trying to prove here

  • Well at 14000 rounds thats alot of abuse on a gun over time i rilly think glocks are one of the best pistol brands out there...

  • @cbekkers HK USP's can withstand 20-25,000 rounds without problems.

  • @number1Schumacherfan Well i have a glock and i shoot it every weekend im shure i have about 19.000 rounds threw it now and i never had a issue yet it all depends on the gun and how often you clean/oil it...

  • But for the price I could basically get two Glocks for a total of 28,000 rds.

  • Propably shot a ton of +P ammo through it too.

  • @cbekkers yea especially if you use that "slide stop" as a slide release. Dont do that. This is why glock tells you not to.

  • @cbekkers 14,000 rounds is not a lot of rounds for a Modern day firearm. I know glocks with over 150,000 rounds through them and they are still going strong.

  • @jkatz44 I don't think so......

  • @HiCapacity I know so....

  • Funny you say that, My buddy has a sig that he brought out to the range the other day, Jammed about 3-6 times out of every ten rounds.. It was no the ammo. I gave him some of my ammo and it still jammed ofcourse my glock shot my ammo and his ammo without issue. So preach all you want your sig is still a peice of shit.

  • @unbeatableshooter what do you work for sig or something? must you advertize sig on every glock video? fuck off and stick that sig up ur ass, no one needs to hear it

  • Interesting video. I have 4 glocks with the oldest being a G22 which is 16 years old and haven't had a single problem. I would agree most people shouldn't try to repair their own firearm if the don't know what they are doing. I would say the slide lock spring breaking after 14k rounds is probably a rare occurrence. And for anyone doubting the reliability of a Glock, ask yourself why over 65% of US law enforcement agencies issue Glock.

  • Read previous comments for answer

  • here is the answer I guess you couldn't find...

Do you change your own flat tire??

I bet you do, but guess what??

Not everyone is YOU.. a lot of people CAN change a spare but they DON'T, they call AAA

    Are you with me?

That kind of person lets a gunsmith work on their guns..

    Still don't believe me?

Go to any gun shop (with a smith) and watch what they do all day..

FIX STUFF ANYONE COULD DO AT HOME

.. Remember there are other people in the world, we don't make these videos just for you

  • Yes, everyone that doesn't know as much as you is an idiot..

    good luck with that..

  • You are all talk and little else.. time to be moving along

  • where would i find that dvd?

  • So if you fire $7000 worth of ammo then the spring will wear out? No way the average shooter will have to worry about this. Not a big deal at all.

  • yup.. well after a few years maybe

(unless ammo prices go way up, LOL)

  • so is that means that glock arent that durable and reliable like glock fans say. because ive herd that HK cant take 20K rounds with no problem

  • not at all.. it means that ANY machine has parts that can break (are designed to wear out)

The spring wore out, not the firearm

So the lesson to learn from this video is.. no machine is perfect without maintenance, so being aware of your tools is important

  • well actualy after i posted my comment i understood how stupid it is :D

  • RichardEllisxyz i have herad more storys of soliders in iraq who owe ther lives to glock ther is no other handgun that will outperform or maches up the realiblity and performance of a glock

  • your been a bit of a fanboy arnt you? cmon glocks are very good but not the end all hand gun besides there are better handguns out there. kimber m1911's and SIG's both brands make great handguns and as for soliders in iraq its the same as solders in WW2 many of them would swere by the springfield m1911's

  • That gun had "one foot on a banana peel and the other in the grave" for sure. Even the military m16's have a lifespan of 10-14k rounds before they are expected to start failing. Glock is not to blame...Just as a car company is not to blame when a car breaks down at 200k miles. It saw its life and obviously searved well.

  • this pistol has many thousands of rounds left in it.. the spring wore out, not the firearm

  • You mean a spring broke after 10K rounds, and you actually need to perform preventive maintenance on a Glock?

Any pistol can/will break a spring after so many rounds. To say otherwise is ignorant.

  • My friends Glock 34 will also slide forwards when the slide is back, and insurting a loaded magazine. not all the time but a lot. Thats under normal loading.

  • I'm just going on what he told me. I did not get to see the event, nor did I see the "pieces". There was nothing to be gained for him to lie to me in describing this encounter. The "torture tests" that was touted by glocks' video was a joke in that anyone with a brain, specifically knowing physics.....the tests were rigged. One could run over your own foot with any truck...and with soft gravel for your foot to sink into...bring on the truck. Think magic tricks.

  • I seriously doubt that Richard's buddy's Glock "shattered". More than likely it forced the slide forward past the slide lock and essentially dis-assembled itself. I have personally seen people beat the hell out of Glocks and fire them dry with only cosmetic damage. I wouldn't treat my 35 like that but I know it's tougher than it needs to be and will last practically forever.

  • I'd bet that the glock in this video isn't out of commission, and based on the function of the glock, he could fire it still. now, i've seen guys take their glock, throw it against a tree, stomp on it (on concrete), pick it up and empty the mag. you cant tell me richard's friend's glock "shattered". they just don't. also that can happen if you put in the recoil spring backwards on some models. not saying that his wasn't broken, but there are multiple ways to recreate the symptom.

  • Cr0cket20, I can replicate that on my Glocks. I believe I read that it happens when you are holding the Glock at a downward angle when slamming the mag. I dont know if I would even call it an issue. A friends Ruger .45 does the same thing. Check out Glock Talk forums and do a search on it. I am pretty sure that is how it works for all Glocks but I am not an expert.

  • I still love Glocks!!! But for now my main handgun is my Berretta PX4....!

  • what kind of chest rig is that?

  • ok richard we all believe you

  • My G23 is 11yrs old (lots of rounds through, a rough guess ~5,000. I could be far off). When inserting a loaded mag with slide locked back, slide automatically moves forward loading first round. I have replaced slide stop lever and purchased new mags. Issue still not fixed. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

  • I am just guessing that both of you are in the armes forces. I do not know much about that, but do they fix your gun for free?

  • nope, not in the military

And this was not a very costly fix, under $5 for the new spring I bet

  • BENCHMADE knife there! right? Osborne? . . .

  • yup, great knife

  • You guys i love your videos; best on youtube. But a "gunsmith" for a lousy slide lock spring..???

  • yes.. what is so hard to believe??

Do you change your own flat tire??

I bet you do, but guess what??

Not everyone is YOU.. a lot of people CAN change a spare but they DON'T, they call AAA

    Are you with me?

That kind of person lets a gunsmith work on their guns..

    Still don't believe me?

Go to any gun shop (with a smith) and watch what they do all day..

FIX STUFF ANYONE COULD DO AT HOME

I don't mind comments, but this seems like hounding on an insignifigant issue already

  • You have a point. Forget what i said. but hey, its amazing looking through this comments hk man and GI joe armorer dude think theyre shit dont stink. idoits. Its pure maintenance, cheap and easly fix. try that with a sig, hk, or 1911. and if glock were trash, why is it still around for 30 years. 30 good years. theyre those type of guys that are like, "if its not expensive, is no good"

  • Comment removed

  • Are you kidding?? Take it to a gun smith to change a slide lock spring.. I do that in my sllep.

  • of course I am not kidding

That job is beyond what some people are interested or able to do on their own.

  • I am not a Glock armorer and I will go toe to toe with you on any Glock, the guy in the video is a joke with all the gear and AR-mags lol. Think you know it all.... Think again.

  • You are not really interested in conversation.. you are interested in proving some point..

    we are not

Think what you want, we never claimed to 'know it all'

We don't go to your channel and post rude remarks about your videos, so how about retuning the favor?

You are obviously way beyond anything we can offer, so enjoy your life... someplace else

  • That is like a $2 part. Honestly, if people are worried about springs on their Glocks failing all you would need to do is buy a guide rod/spring assem., a Slide Stop Spring, and a Slide release lever/spring, and maybe a mag spring or 2. If you have all those parts in your kit you will be golden! It is like $27 in parts!

  • exactly, that is a good point

With any pistol, keeping a set of replacement springs and small parts is easy to keep in a range bag to keep the gun running

  • Regardless of how much it cost... It doesn't work and if he needed to use it right then and there he would be $hit out of Luck.

  • If you are serious about training and being a good shooter you really need to purchase 2 of which ever gun you are going to carry. One to train and beat the hell out of and one to carry. Also, there are several system checks you can do on a Glock before you holster it for the day. One of which would have caught the issue at hand.

  • I don't agree with you about the spare training gun, but that's OK

As for your concept of doing the Glock tests, how would they have determined this spring would break DURING training ?

Sure those tests will tell you if your pistol is OK at that moment, but I am not aware of any tests that will indicate that a spring will break after the next 200 rounds fired..

    Good user name BTW

  • No gun is perfect, any gun can break at anytime. We can do things to minimize the chances but in the end that it is just that.....a chance.

  • I agree 100%

  • ?? so no one should own a vehicle because they have the possibility of breaking down, getting a flat tire, etc?

We train to know what to do when a firearm goes down when it's most needed no matter the brand or model

  • guns and cars are 2 different things... You aren't going to die if your car doesn't work.. you cant say the same thing about a gun when it comes time to really use it.

  • Seriously?

A car could most definitely kill you, your passengers and other innocent bystanders if it is not working properly

How often are you in a car

    vs.

How often are you in a situation where you need to fire a gun in defense?

  • How often are you in a car? I don't know you are the one who started to bring cars in the mix with gun talk so you can answer that question.

How often are you in a situation where you need a gun? that depends on the person. one thing i do know is your gun better work if you need to use it.

  • you are very ignorant

  • You are responding to a comment I made almost 6 months ago.... GET A LIFE LOSER.

  • hahaha i acutally work 3rd shift at motel 6 and have very little to do from the hours of 3am-7am so i not only have a life but am getting paid to do this.....

  • You work at a motel? What a great career! i bet you and your folks are really proud of that! hahahahahaha

  • lol dude....stop being such a baby because i called you ignorant....im 21 and still in college....this is not a career merely a job for spending money.....and by making fun of my job you are only further proving my point of how ignorant you really are.....and now everyone that watches this video gets to see that....and i dont know if its for a reason or cause you really dont know but its not dark vader its darth vader......

  • lol first off i work the front desk so no changing anything for me....secondly, and again because you obviously cant read well, im still in college.....kinda hard to start my career when im not finished with the schooling for said career...still just taking un-witty cheap shots because i called you out on your ignorance....grow up sir....your 27 years old please act accordingly....

  • 14k rounds throught it? WOW that's a huge amount... All guns go through some type of malfunction at some point. Especially when you get past 10k+ mark. Thanx for posting this.

  • no problem, these are the kind of videos we like.. generating discussion and hopefully getting people to do preventative maintenance on their firearms,

    thanks for the feedback

  • shit that aint nothin. Ive seen people put into the hundreds of thousands of round through their glock. Not me unfortunately the money just aint there.... lol still though in the sceme of my budget I guess your right, 14k is a bit much

  • so how would u fix it? buy some new parts? im new to guns...

  • yup, very easily fixed, just one broken spring needed to be swapped with a new one

  • Comment removed

  • we are all entitled to our opinions

  • ah there is always some guy trying to justify his expensive purchase................

  • It takes me less than 2 minutes to remove that part on my Glock. I'm not a Glock armorer nor have I actually had any training on fully disassembling the pistol.

Glocks are awesome pistols and I'll be trusting my life to one every day when I get my CCW in a few short months.

  • What model benchmade is that you have?

  • I'll have to ask him

  • Looks like a Benchmade 940, or maybe a 710. Hope it helps.

  • Sigs are plenty and plenty of gun dealers try to talk you out of buying a glock and going with sigs because they can move glocks 10 times faster than sigs or Hk's. A sucker is born every minute, and they are the Mercedes and Sig owners of the world.

  • 14000 rounds and finally a bearkage. WOW how crappy is that gun? give me a fucking break, put a glock against ANY gun ANY day. All you Sig and HK fans are fools to pay extra for expensive guns just to say you have a german made gun. Like mercedes owners who brag about their expensive car, but neglect to say its always in the shop. Glock is the Lexus of hand guns reasonalbe and reliable day in and day out. thats why you cant find them anywhere these days.

  • Wow got a little touchy did we?

I maintain all my own weapons also used to build custom AR-15's for people back when there were parts.

I was an armorer in the Army so I think I know my way around weapons.

Glocks are trash. So its good you posted the video. To reinforce to people why not to buy them.

  • Not touchy.. annoyed by ignorance

Learn how to express yourself professionally and your point of view might get more respect.. right now the WAY you express it makes it invalid

I doubt you very much at all about weapon maintenance but guess what.. it don't matter.

You can not produce any evidence for your opinion, so there is little reason to listen to you

  • HAHA my personal collection is bigger than yours why wouldnt my ammo bill be? Sorry i dont shoot alot of firearms that belong to other people nor do i save ammo recipts for 7 years. but like i said atleast all the weapons in my videos BELONG TO ME

  • anyone can talk.. prove it

Your collection is as unknown as mine, so great point to make in your defense smart guy

Anyone can buy stuff that don't make you a pro

I suppose if you owned a bunch of ice skates that would make you a pro hokey player too?

  • yeah i had the crimson trace grips on my 229. I love in the video he says he replaced the spring evey 3-4 thousand. Like i said 12-15 thousand and ammo is all i have replaced.

I guess mine is going to live up to the 24 thousand round service life that HK says it has.

By service life they are talking springs, not hard parts.

  • You also never replace shocks or brake pads, since you think no parts have a service life

    You are an amateur

  • Comment removed

  • They feal like a glock to me and i dont like the trigger on them but one of my buddies has one with the brown frame in .40 he got his with the lazer/flashlight for 600 bucks not bad. Seams to shoot ok but i have only shot it 30 or so times. Hell i like my first pistol the ol Ruger P89DC. Its a great shooting pistol and have never had any problems out of it. I havent shot it in over a year need to get it out.

  • I am guessing you speak of HK. As for Ruger they make a good pistol, But I have swore off plastic guns.

  • Go debate in a chatroom / mesageboard, NOT our videos.. unless the topic is the video. I'm deleting any posts you swear in (see last post)

  • Another pointless comment.. deleting the ones with swears, since they add NOTHING to this video or even a firearms discussion .. grow up, learn to express opinions with vocabulary not emotions .. well perhaps you need a valid argument for that, so I understand why you two need to curse so much.. being wrong and all

  • To hell with striker fire weapons. If im going to spend 500 bucks of a pistol it would be a XD NOT a glock. Atleast Springfield has some kind of background. The only thing glock does is keeps trying to make a pistol worth having. When a company keeps coming out with the same thing only diffrent they are saying they havent got it right yet

  • Yawn.. nothing to add to THIS video?

Then go to a chat room

It sounds like you think Springfield makes the XD?? LOL

  • Same old USP for 7 years 12-15 thousand through it. It stops working ALL the time. I have found adding more ammo fixes it.

TRUE about the 1000 round test go watch it all you glock guys will be proud it only jams 6 times has mag release problems AND the guide rod falls out. GREAT WEAPON

  • Wow you shot 12-15 thousand rounds eh?

Lets see your log books.. or are you all talk?

How about recipts from ammo purchases adding up that high..
