@exar34 um maybe for some i guess? i think it would be more so to get the idea of the system than hearing it as if you were right there inside of the truck...idk thats just the way i started thinking of it
hey bro i juss got 2 12'' Memphis reference from my bro but i have a 2004 trailblazer and i want a ported box but idk what amp? need help with a good loud setup,
the fuked up thing about a ported box is the peak isnt the loudest at the tuning port. n the steep rolloff is 24. daz messed up. n i think the reason why a ported box has peaks like over the tuning port is cus the steep rolloff. maybe if it wasnt so steep it would have a peak tuning frequency. but its hard to do that cus the ported box would roll off even steeper if it was at the tuning. it would be way too sharp. so its above it. to smoothe it out. n be a smoother roll off.
I would highly recommend a ported enclosure over the sealed; especially in a SUV. Ported enclosures will give you the deep/lower response, and sealed will hit tight/clean. However, one key think to remember is you will get MUCH more bang for your buck out of 12" subs vs. 10s. Keep that in mind before spending a lot on an enclosure. Most manufactures sell their 10s and 12s failrly close to the same price.
Hey bro been thinking bout doin this setup. The only thing I'm wondering is will the woofers make the back seal leak? You know how they say avalanches are good for it. I would appreciate any feedback.
i have a 03 chevy avalanche z71 and im going after this exact setup, no deck the subs and amp.. prob 2 12" subs and the amp, how much did yours cost you to have the rear gate still work, and so on, send me a email
hey sup man i just bought a 2010 LT. ive seen the sub enclosures like this on a caraudio website but before any investments id like to ask someone who has it or knows bout it.
1) does the bed rattle? ( the 3 truck bed covers do they shake and rattle?)
2) im scared i might break the back glass window if im dropping to hard. your thoughts?
3) would you honestly recomend this set up over a box behind the seat in front of the mid gate? or under the seat?
No, you will not get any rattling from the covers. Actually, the back window won't rattle too bad either becuase it is snapped in up against the rubber gasket which somewhat acts as a buffer. Yes, I would hands-down recommend this enclosure over a behind the seat or under seat enclosure. There is very little sound quality from an under seat enclosure and no sound pressure. The same pretty much goes for a prefabbed behind the seat enclosure; there just isn't enough available airspace back there.
@meyer889 No, I have not had any complaints about the rear window rattling. You shouldn't get any vibration because of the shear size of the rubber gasket that water proofs the rear window. I installed this set up with (2) 15" Kicker Solo Barics and had no problems with rattling. Feel free to email me with any further questions. Thanks for your comment!

The truck is an '03. The midgate has to be completely replaced by a new enclosure/midgate. However, some people cut their factory migate and put an enclosure up against the opening of it.
my buddies got an 02 and for christmas im installing subs for him is there anyway you could send me a description or something on how you made that box cause it seems just about perfect cause ive been going ove it again and again on how i can get these in there and this is the best way ive seen or thought up.
why would you watch this video then dipshit? it aint about if you wanna hear it i spent the money on it so i could hear and feel it cause i like it, it aint about the attention faggot read the title next time and if its something you dont like then maybe you shouldnt watch the video.
WOW, that is one bad setup. Nice and clean look. I was unsure to what subs I was going to put in my car until I stubbled on this video. Memphis PRs for sure.
hey man nice custom box. I have an 08 avalanche and took out the midgate and just have a regular box with 2 12s sittin behind the back seats and its almost nonexistent. Do you think if I get a box like that it will make the world of difference?
Its a sealed box sitting in the bed...i feel like the sound stays mostly in the bed and maybe a box like this would keep it in the cab and be loud as shit...i have the same subs as in this video
Yea, the midgate enclosure makes all the difference. Because it completely replaces the factory midgate, it makes a seal all the way around the gasket going into the bed. This is turn, makes the pressure increase inside the cab of the truck, making it much louder.
i just went to this crazy ass monster truck show in florence the other weekend end and the carolina customs people were there, they were cool as hell and they had the nicest shit you have ever seen. i swear.
here in ky i run a little home based stereo shop nothing big i get some of my stuff whole sale but mostly just cruisin around and buying other peoples..lol i just bought 4 15 memphis mojo and 2 1000 watt amps for 250 bucks
hey man i was just curious as to where u got that box from or if u made it . I have 2 tens in mine right now under the seat but i really wanna throw some 12's in there and i love ur set up man.
Watching this made me very happy. Im gonna be buying 2 of these subs and a 4 cube box tuned to ~50Hz off a 2000d running ~1200 - 1300 Watts continuous wired to 1 ohm. I'll let everyone know what kinda SPL im getting after it's installed. Gotta tune the amp down of course but it should still be hella loud.
man i work for audio link and we are a certified memphis dealer if your planning on putting 2 memphis pr's on a 2000d you wont even make it 2 minutes on the subs before your out buying 2 more if you have a 2000d memphis amp you need to have mojos if you cxant afford them then atleast m3's
They are doing good. Almost a year with 700 watts on them and they are fine. Not really good subs for SPL, but because of the air space I had to work with in the Avalanche, I couldn't do any SPL work anyway. Sound quality is pretty good though.
Yeah m1's are a good choice, you wont be disappointed with those they are pretty loud and still maintain very good sound quality and the price is pretty good as well.
I don't have very much airspace in this enclosure, so I went with the Power Reference subs. They are great for the money. However, if you have the airspace, I would do something bigger. With an 800 watt amplifier on (2) 12" subs, I would do the M1's; the power handling is 300 rms and 600 max. So you could be well in that range. The M3's are rated at 500 rms and 1000 max; so essentially, you would be under-powering them . I would get the M1's; plenty of bang for your buck.
It all depends. Is that box ported? If not, I would get a ported one, especially for the Mojos. If it is ported, the Mojos have optimal air space requirements around 5 cubes, (a good size enclosure; not a standard dual 12" box). Another thing is the Mojos RMS is 1000 watts per sub, 2000 watts max. A single 800 watt amp would be extremely under-powering them. Good luck. If I was you, I would look into getting the M1, or the M3s. Both great subs.
You could get this same set up (box, and subs) for approximately $550 (not exact, depending on the subs). The amp is where most of your money will be. Prob. around another $200-$300 depending on what you want. Between 500-700 watts is plenty for these subs in this enclsoure. Of course different brands and models could be mutch more or less expensive.
I would sell a box just like that one for $300 However, the back of the box is completely Rhino Lined. If you wanted the actual Rhino liner like above, it would be another $90-$100. If not, you could spray the back of the enclosure with whatever you want. All it is for is a moisture-barrier and dent protection.
