Harry Shearer truly portrays what happened in New Orleans. the plan for development thanks to Waganer architects is awesome. If nothing else I sure hope this brings the improvements we need. Dorian Bennett
New Orleans' devastation was not caused by mother nature or by New Orleanians and it is not fair so many people believe those USACE sponsored lies. The reason why New Orleans needs the truth to be known is that the engineers rebuilding the flood protection are the same engineers federal courts found guilty, but not accountable for their gross engineering negligence that caused the damage. Unlike MMS after the Gulf oil disaster or NASA after shuttle disasters, the Corps has not been reformed.
Here in Indiana (and I'm sure in other states), the Army Corps of Engineers built lakes and used existing roads for boat ramps. When they realized their mistake, they rewrote the manual and grandfathered out existing problem areas. My teenage grandson is dead, drowned in his car, because the road he mistakenly chose went directly into a lake. His was the 3rd death at that location, yet the Corps, the state, no one took responsibility. We had to force the state to even put up signs and lights.

Having seen the waters rise after the levees broke, destroying my whole community in St. Bernard Parish, I applaud the truth in this film. I have seen it and it is THE BEST documentary on the truth of what happened in New Orleans and COULD happen to many other areas. Feel safe with your ACOE levees? WE the PEOPLE need to keep showing the truth to what actually happened in new orleans in 2005, katrina was NOT a natural disaster, it was an engineering disaster which was man made.
Something is seriously wrong with the way we manage water, levees, and wetlands in this country. While I was photographing and writing The Mississippi: A Visual Biography, Grand Forks, New Orleans, and Cedar Rapids went underwater. Where I live in Monroe County, Illinois the main line levee at Columbia broke in the 1993 flood and inundated the American Bottom and wiped out Valmeyer. Only after the Corps made a break in the levee did the flood return to the river. In 2010 Nashville flooded.
This should be showing this month and next at the Cleveland Film Festival. Anyone know if screenings of The Big Uneasy are part of their screening schedule yet>March/April, 2011 at Tower City.
Thank You! People in this country must understand what REALLY happened in New Orleans. We Must Demand building a new water protection management system. The Netherlands has a highly effective and beautifully integrated system that has protected now for over 50 years. We must take care of and maintain our infrastructure. Demand that our city be protected.

Why was our USACE allowed to spend tax dollars promoting their myth that the flood was not their fault? Why is there a law that exempts the Corps from consequences for gross engineering negligence that kills thousands and destroys hundreds of billions of our citizen's property? Why doesn't the right to due process apply in New Orleans? Why is it ok for our federal government to spend our tax dollar slandering New Orleanians and causing much of the world to believe our damages were our fault?
Ha, well take a good look at the media in this country, idiots and lemmings, all of them. I am not surprised that there is not enough intelligence in the New York Times to speak the truth. We in New Orleans know that the hurricane did little or no damage to this city, hell I was out in the middle of it. It was the lies that the Army Corps of Eng told the citizens of New Orleans...that the levees were safe.
It's important that truth about why the City of New Orleans flooded. This was a man made disaster. The hurricane skirted the City of New Orleans and was past it when the levees failed do to structural deficiencies. This needs to be reiterated until the false natural disaster stories are put to rest.
