  • Its not stupid hun! Great job with this vid.... i was talked out of being natural a few times, it does hurt but you will do it, you will be even more beautiful, as you have embraced you...

  • I am 18 years old and have been transitioning for about 6 months now. It is getting like of rough to maintain and be creative when it comes to styling my hair and studying in college. On top of that, most of my family does not approve of me going natural so I don't get the moral support that I need from the people I love the most. I know that this video is not that recent but I have watched your recent ones and am inspired and congratulate you about continuing the journey and finishing it.

  • This is a beautiful vid :)

  • I feel ya girl. The main reason Im actually going natural is because i have no choice lol. I cant afford a perm anymore so yea...and also like you, I just couldnt seem to grow my relaxed hair past my shoulders smh..so natural napps here we come ;)

  • Ur beautiful! I love the realness.... Just subbed now.... My journey is beginning

  • iWatched this like a year ago and now i'm watching it again, now that i'm natural. I just put a video up ^_^) Good choice!.

  • Don't cry,you have such a beautiful smile.

  • I can totally understand where you're coming from...Although my hair wasn't really the problem in this case, but many other things are,nth ins that I've pained myself to do when I don't even know why, just because society won't accept me the way I naturally am...Don't be discouraged, everyone was born how they were meant to be, I find African American hair beautiful in all forms so follow your heart and not the opinions of others.

  • Girl, just follow your heart. As much as you love your mom, don't let her opinions dictate your life. *hugs*

  • Wow I think this is really beautiful Xoxo

  • The hair attached to your body is as much a part of you as your heart and soul. You can never be happy trying to hide it or change it just to please other people, as happiness is only in being your true natural self. You're doing the right thing, don't doubt yourself :)

  • I understand the thing you said about how come other can have natural hair and go about their day w/o worring about their hair. Well for me its not hair its something else and it makes me so upset that the thing I worry about others have no problems with. :(

  • aw i saw you get choked up and i just want to give you some love<3 ur beautiful and black girls with natural hair is beautiful as well as relaxed <3i see how this subject is touchy to you and i jut wanted to give u a lil love girlfriend:)

  • Aww i felt sorry for you when you were crying. Sitting here behing my computer almost crying myself thinking "it's okay babe, take you're time" i'm just weird like that. But i have so much respect for you, i love how you don't let the negativity change your mind like it did before. Xoxo from the netherlands

  • Ive been there :) Keep your head up . it gets better. If you need anything feel free to hit me back up.

  • omg, i LOVE you sooo much... im currently transitioning hair naturally, & i told my best friend who is a white girl about my decision & she is supporting me 100%... then i told my childhood friend (who is black) about my epiphany about my hair, & she made me feel so insignificant about my idea & she basically told me my hair would never grow to the length i want it too... that really hurt my feelings to the point where i was contemplating giving up... THANK YOU SOOO MUCH

  • Wow I've been watching u for a minute and u have come a long way very inspiring l

  • I'm 16 been natural for about 9 months and its the best thing thats ever happend to me!! My friends didn't understand at first but once I finally got it going and my natural hair grew out everybody loved it!! I've inspired 5 girls to go natural. But the thing about it is, is that it's versatile! you can be curly, big, short, straight Everything!!! Don't let anyone get you down. Let your curls come through it'll grow thicker and be the most beautiful thing in the world keep you head up :)

  • aaaaw you poor fish. Society has brainwashed people into thinking that european is the standard for beauty. Do your thing. Forget other people's opinions.

  • u know what girl, i am 19 and haven't made peace with my hair yet. i know what ur going through, but u HAVE to get through this and u will, just like i will and once ur real hair is long and thick and shiny (and it will be) u'll be glad u did it. u go gurl.

  • I've heard ALL of this on my transitioning journey omg :/

  • I love the RAWNESS of this video!!!! Stay strong through your journey.

  • It really hurts me to see you cry over how others people view the texture of hair. Your acting skills should not have any factor over whether or not you can portray a character. As long as there are quick weaves, weaves and lace front wigs you can always have options. Be strong and do not start your new year out being concerned about how other people’s views. You have a beautiful spirit do not allow anyone to stifle it!

  • Thank you Toya for this video. I was moved by your story and truly understand how you were feeling at the time.

This video will aspire another young lady and help her with her transitioning woes. Had I seen this years ago (13), I would have gone natural a long time ago. ...I tried to go natural after wearing braids for one year, but, with all the negative comments and no support from friends, I had my hair relaxed.

I've been natural for two years and two months and couldnt be any happier. :)

  • you've come so far from this video :) God Bless, no more tears

  • Doesn't your mom watch Tv. I see so many naturals on commercials. I see actors with dreads. And what about weave or lace fronts. Your mom should have supported you. Boyfriend "up kept look" what???

  • I'm going natural too! I tried it once in high school and got laughed at, but now I'm too old to care. This natural hair movement makes me very happy. ^_^

  • Are you natural now? I think if you feel strongly about it you should do it you can always get a hot comb when it's casting call time. The Jew below is simpleminded she can't do as much with her hair as we can with ours. If your boyfriend loves you hell love it

  • @SonsOfLiberty65 A lot has changed since this video, my love. I personally people that have "Jewish" hair looks awesome. You are the only people who can rock an afro like us. hehe! Maybe WE should set the standard for what amazing hair should look like. All it takes is education and the right knowledge to care for curly hair and the options are LIMITLESS! Casting directors r just going to have to get over having a small mind and focus more on talent. I'll wig up later if needed

  • @toyaboo2 I totally agree with you - the versatility of natural hair is amazing.

  • @SonsOfLiberty65 "bad hair"...really? Are we going there?

  • @SmartAmerican1 what do u mean? i have bad hair? do u disagree or something?

  • Comment removed

  • @SonsOfLiberty65 ok anglophile

  • you would have to be crazy not to go natural!!!! i saw chris rocks movie those chemicals are DANGEROUS!!!

  • pretty girl going natural w/ the hair = WIN,WIN

    nice vid

  • My professor used this video in my African American Studies class as a discussion on black woman and their relationship to hair. Great Video we had a great discussion

  • Not only... MAINLY other blacks...

  • Thank you for addressing the fact that only other blacks have a problem with our natural hair textures.

  • if anything, being natural will make u more confident, make you stand out more in castings, and relaxed isnt you...your natural texture is you. My mom is old school and wanted my hair to be straight but once i grew it out and proved it could be worn in tons of more hairstyles than a fro, she loved it

  • i love the fact that you are open and honest and i love this video because i am an aspiring actress and what i learned is that your hair shouldn't limit you from anything you are not your hair and it doesnt determine your personality

  • wow i honestly feel like this video was so open and honest. i really appreciate your courage to post this. this was really powerful. there is something so undeniably beautiful about the honest truth. thank you for sharing

  • No need to worry about crying lil sis! It's fine.... I know what you are going through. America makes such demands on beauty and make us as black women believe that if we are not "straigt" hair folk, something is wrong with us!! We are beautiful and you are such a beautiful young sister so be yourself and be proud!! I am VERY proud of you!!

  • .. Hair curly) but still I don't get the result of what a white girl gets when she just takes a shower and it's really upsetting to me but this video made me realize that maybe its okay to go natural

  • I completely understand how you feel cause I'm white and jamaican (well mixed lol) and my natural hair is duper curly and textured and I don't like it cause I'm white on the outside but have thus crazy Jamaican hair and it's hard to go to school where all these white girls wear their hair natural and wash it everyday whereas I wash my hair once a week and straighten it for 50 minutes every morning and put a keratin treatment (which is kinda like a relaxer but its not harsh and makes straight ha

  • Girl do you check out beautifulbrwnbabydoll blackonyx77 they r great

  • I'm around actors. Because of a family member who's an accomplished actor and im in theater and let me tell u natural hair is IN. Every actress I've met is natural and when the part calls for straight hair they just slap a wig or weave on in. You're good!

  • u are beautiful..... ur eyes so bright

  • I am right there with you girl. I've always had long relaxed hair since I was a kid and when I told people I was going natural I go a 50/50 response. I've had people try to talk me out of it but its our journey not theirs. Stay strong. It boyfriend doesn't care about u if he can't support your decision. I have been transitioning for 5 months and I do plan on doing my bc no matter what anyone else says. Your beautiful inside and out.

  • I totally understand how you feel I have a twa right now but my husband hates it. I was emotionally detached from my relaxed hair and I got to the point where I had to be honest with myself. Very honest video loved it!

  • You have beautiful eyes. You do you. Check out the videos of the other natural beauties and they will motivate you to go natural. I'm looking forward to seeing you in your natural hair do. Peace and Love to you. Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Your are a beautiful person in and out!! Do what is in your heart ...if your boyfriend doesn't like your hair then he doesn't like you....and he doesn't deserve you. Your post was very honest and appreciated. I'm spanish with coarse hair and I have also decided to go natural.i was told that "natural" doesn't fit me....but mostly positive feed back....i say follow your hear sweetheart!!!! Good luck!!!

  • It saddened me to watch you cry. When I was thinking about going natural I asked myself: if there was no "standard of beauty" excepty own would I relax my hair? The answer was no, I was relaxing my hair for other people. I've been natural for 2 years and I love the decision I made

  • Subscribed! <3

  • damn my dick got hard quick

  • This touched my heart... smh.

  • Im in the same boat. I just dont know what to do. Im not really sure how to take care of natural hair or even transition. Im glad you posted this because I felt like i was the only person having that problem.

  • good now no make up on

  • You are beautiful!!! I support you and I am going natural too!!!

  • if i decide down the road i want to get a relaxer again thats fine but right now this is my decision.. and im gonna stick with it as long as i can. :) keep your chin up.( I have watched some of your newer vids so I know you have ) but none the less lol

  • hi. i have recently decided to go natural myself. (27 weeks mark!) i watched the vid but i was hooked and understood why you were getting so emotional around the 1.5-2 min mark. in the first month or so of going i had a few arguments with my mom about my hair. (im gonn ba 27 this week.) she has been getting relaxers for probably 30 years. after a while i told her im not asking you to stop getting relaxers im doing this for me and you dont have to like because its my hair.

  • Thanks for posting such an honest vlog on going natural! I can totally relate!

  • Nature made you beautiful, why change it?

  • I didn't even appreciate the challenge for actors and models... you pretty much have to conform to the desires of the casting agent and often times our natural hair will suffer. this video was VERY REAL.. thank you for posting!

  • U look beautiful natural,

  • You are awesome! You can do you wigs and weaves and explore ALL the different sides of yourself as an artist AND be natural. Truly being yourself sometimes will be as satisfying and fulfilling as every other aspect of your life and personality. I know you are so glad to be you, Toyaboo!

  • When I made the decision to go natural I didn't have much support either. My mom supported me but my sister and nieces and other family members were so against it. It really had me on the fence about transitioning. I VALUE my sisters opinion so it really bothered me when she didn't think it was a good idea but in the end I did what was best for me and I LOVE IT. Great vid thinks for sharing this......

  • She is the best Chicago ever

  • Awww you're so cute! Don't appologize for crying, it just shows your sincerity. And i'm a crying baby too i know how frustrating it is to try to STOP crying ;)

About your mother and boyfriend, i understand their reaction. My mother and other people reacted the same way, but my mother soon started to support me and give me tips and i am so greatful to her for that.

  • I shaved my head, fuck society, its my hair and ill do wat i want with it, officially off the creamy crack :)

  • Wow you were so pretty... sad oh well

  • I wish I came across your channel earlier, I'm transitioning (6mnths post) and this video made me cry because I am going through the same thing you went through. I don't understand why I can't be accepted for who I was born to be, why do I have to keep burning my scalp to be accepted by society. Last time I got a relaxer it burnt SO bad to the point where my hair was sticking to my scalp and was sore and I said NEVER again. So thanks for sharing this!

  • You can still straighten your hair when it's natural. I do it all the time. Then when I'm lazy I just wash and wear it kinky curly. But it straightens well.

  • I guess Im a year late, but I just found your channel. I know exactly how you felt, feel... The emotions you felt is exactly what I was going through. Its so dractically sad that our white friends can execpt our hair before our own. I've been natural for about 14 months and I feel like me. I can workout and not have to worry about a thing. I have no regrets. Thank you so much for opening yourself. God bless:)

  • I would dump that boyfriend ... he needs to love u for u alll of u : )

  • Its funny that you said that b/c my White co-workers were like "Do it!" "That would be so cool!!!!!" and my family were like "why you wanna do that?!?" and "So you are going to straighten it, right?" We are our own worst enemies, sometimes.

  • im so happy that you weren't afraid to be vulnerable. it is soooo hard to go through this process. when i went naturl (i was 15, im now 20) my mom told me that i wasn't the daughter she thought she would have. im just soo happy that you showed that it is hard to come to this decision because there is so much negativity! ppl need to see that you can still overcome all of the negativity & do what you know in your heart is best for you!!! YAY for YOU!

  • hun i dont know how i got to this video, im white and i love it when i see a black person in their natural hair, it makes them seem more confident and confident in their own skin

  • First off, this vid is amazing. You are brave. This is something big. And I'm so happy that you're making the step to go natural. Ive been perming for 11 years. I'm turning 18 next month. I have never seen my natural hair texture really. I've been natural for 2 months so far. I just can't do it anymore. I'm embracing my true self and I know it's gonna be hard but ima do it. You inspired me and I wish u the best hun

  • What a beautiful, vulnerable, and honest moment immortalized in video. Thank you for sharing. I loved this, and just to let you know I have a mother and sister that were against my natural hair. But I kept on stepping and taking care of my natural hair which is long now. Wouldnt you know they're thinking about going natural too. Dont let up. Its worth it.

  • Why are black women (the ones that were born with this hair) the most ignorant when it comes to our hair. Non-black women wear their hair in any state and any length and it is what it is. Sometimes I just feel so ashamed to b a black women. And any man that can't get on board with this decision can kick rocks. Negro, isn't your hair in its natural state. Did I tell you to relax your hair cuz I dont want it "nappy"?! We have got to do better yall. Learn about something before you talk about it...

  • This touched me. I decided to go natural just a couple weeks ago. I think natural hair is beautiful. You're a beautiful woman. Clearly you're so intelligent. I say go for it! Don't worry about what people say. Be proud of your roots!

  • This video has inspired me :) Thanks gal :)

  • No one matters but you :) screw everybody else! Do what is best for your hair !:)

  • this is my first time watching this but im a cosmetologist and i never had a relaxer my mom just never put it n our hair but there's is no such thing as good hair bad hair every one hair is beautiful u just have to take care of it u can str8 ur natural hair and it can look as good like ur have relaxer and even better boo i talked so many ppl out of relaxers and their natural now and they love their hair

  • Many black women are emotional over hair including me so don't feel bad..

  • everyone in my family reacted the SAME way. you have no idea. and i was doing the same thing you're doing right now. i cried plenty of times about my hair before my big chop because if felt like no one wanted me to have short natural hair when all i wanted to do was cut it. i don't know if you're still with him, if he changed his mind but you should never let a man make you not want to be natural or feel bad about being natural.

  • Awesome video!!!!

  • You are so awesome and you just about made me cry. Isis Ed you lived close to me because I would most definitely coach and encourage you. God did not make a mistake of how our hair should be. That is all you need to tell them. Our hair is beautiful and I feel that it is great how you feel. Some people just do not understand. I am almost 50 so I have a lot of experience. When you get older one tends to say screw what people think and say. Take care of your health and keep yourself natural. You c

  • To all the Sista's on here my wife went Natural and I Love it I never did like the weave thing I mean it was kool at first but when it start to pull her sides I wasn't feeling it like she was feeling and she said what if i chopped it all off i told whatever makes you happy babe she did it love it but the Sista's look at here funny but white people love it i'm Rican, Blk, irish, Italian but consider myself black cuz that's all i know. Why do we hate on each other C'mon sista where the luv

  • @Marc82193 PREACH!

  • <3

  • so how did you do? did you do it? you no you can always braid your hair down and wear wigs,or sew ins. but you mom is right. but you can always do the sew ins. it would be better for your hair in the long run, im 40 now, and im transitioning now, my hair is still thick, but nothing like it use to be.i no its hard, my husband says he dosent want a nappy head, so i no what you mean, but im gonna do it.

  • @cutflower36 Yes, I did it! Check out my channel (click toyaboo2) to see my updates. Thanks so much for the support :-) I'm so happy now!

  • im currently 11 months into my transtion. I couldnt help but feel for you in this video because its exactly what ive been going through...tears and all. I just feel the need to want to be accepted and appreciated for who I am and not the things that others want me to change about myself because they think it would give me a better appearance. either way your a very pretty person with intentions on only helping yourself. this video was posted a while ago but i hope things are better

  • Girlll YOU DO YOU!!! I'm going natural (just started the process) and I felt like everybody was going to say don't do it.. but truth is IM DOING ME!!!

  • the same thing happened to me for 7 years...i want to go back natural again soon but im aware of the "issues' i had lots of horrible treatment over years

  • i am going natural and it is in my videos and my black side of my fam was against it i feel you girl real talk!!!

  • U dont need to grow natural to grow out some hair girl. I grew my hair past my shoulders for the first time in years. I didnt use heat very often, deep conditoning, moisturizing daily, and wearing protective styles and not combing as much(1x a day). But I FEEL YOU hun. I found you today and I am falling in love with your channel! I went natural because I hated the smell and that my hair was type. People say that if you dont have nice hair u cant be natural.YT is proving them wrong!

  • Omg transitioing idms an emotionally process im not gonna lie i cried at least two times

  • you remind me of jANET JACKSON, DO YOU GET THAT ALOT?

  • Kinky Hair Is Not Fair I'm Not Happy with My Hair

    By Katina Williams

    good real

  • I LOVE THISS!!! omg! an inspiration!!

  • i'm going natural now, i've gathered confidence now to be able to go out with my natural hair and its has and is still hard, just nice to see vids like this is keeping me going coz i know ppl r going thru the same thing, but the end result will be sweet=). We need to keep encouraging one another! thanks gurl!! :)

  • you are such an inspiration ..... THANK YOU !

  • Good hair meets curls and waves bad hair makes you look like a slave at the turn of the century its time to redefine who we be you can shave all off like an african beauty have your own locks like bob marley You can rock it straight

Like Oprah Winfrey if its not on whats your head its whats underneath it------india.arie

if anyone judges you for your natural african hair show em or sing em the song i am not my hair

  • Ur so beautiful, and so is natural hair.

  • You did this video so long ago. I was browsing videos to show my little sister how to transition her hair. Your video just made me cry darlin. I want to hug you or your year ago you. Even parents can suck the joy out of us hunnie but it will come back. you are beautiful and im sure your hair is too. Try to remember no matter what, that everyday when you wake up, you r waking up to YOU. Do whatever makes you happy in all things both work and play.

  • hahahahaha

  • Thank u ;)) i was going threw videos and thinking about all of my reasons 4 doing this....and wishing i had one person in my life to support or share with in this journey! lol somewhere with in the last few min it dawned on me its mine to take and i need to do it on my own(if that makes sense) again thank u so much and s/n you r not a cry baby! i completly understand them tears XoXo Congrats..............

  • You are so brave and i commend you for posting this video. Ive been thinking about going natural for a month now and i aswell asked my mom and shes been tryin to tlk me out of it. Seeing this video has made me realize tht im not the only one with this issue. Be strong and do whats rite for you DESPITE wht others think:) i stil havent made my desicion on if im goin to go natural or not bt you definetly gave me hope if i do decide to. Thanks so much for this video. Ur beautiful inside & out!!!!!

  • I completely understand what you're going through. I've been transitioning for 11 months. I love relaxers and have spent a good amount of time wearing sew ins, but with a relaxer my hair just would not grow past my shoulders. In April, with my transitioning, it was already 3 inches longer than its been since I had perms. My mom makes comments about my "nappy hair," but we have that joking type of relationship & she doesn't understand that it actually hurts. U deff have my support! Good luck!

  • I reeaally reaaly LOVE THIS video Like I've saved it in my playlist all about natural hair because I'm 9months post and most of my family are against natural hair my mum is just about getting her head around it so this video really motivates me to stay on this journey of mine =)

  • Go natural. Screw whoever doesnt like it. At the end of the day society's standards are bullshit. Do you! If thats what you really want to do in your heart then it will show and people will see the beauty in you and your decision. I cut my long curls off (that I had to constantly relax and straighten for years) to a little longer than when Eve had her short hair. I love it and it doesnt matter what others think or dont think. I did it for me...not them.

  • I wear my hair natural, but I keep it in braids. This summer I'm going to get twists. My dad tells me that my hair is healthy and pretty, and so does my brother. My dad didn't like when I used to wear extentions. My mom wears a weave and she's more into the idea of adding stuff in, but she supports me and braids my hair every week. The thing is, I'd like to take my braids out and wear an afro sometimes. So I get where you're coming from. Even as someone who's natural, I still feel media pressure

  • I was almost in tears watching your video. I'm so sorry that you went through this, and I know this was over a year ago but I'm proud that you stuck with your decision. I've recently decided to go natural as well and I'm lucky enough that a majority of the people around me are already natural and support me through this. Your video has really helped me to solidify my decision.

  • omg my mom is a cosmetologist too and we just got in an argument about straightening my hair as well. she told me that i'm more attractive with my hair straight. they can be cold when they are ignorant.

  • I absolutely LOOOOOOVE this video...you should be proud of this, it's raw and it shows truth in your feelings..Like you said , you can always wear a weave, but you can let go of the relaxer, if you want it straight, just straighten it :)

  • I've also started to qo natural and I completley understand how you feel, some of my friends look at me and say "No that's uqly keep it straight" and watching your video has insspired me. it shows that at the end of the day your hair and what you choose to do with it is your decision. I really appreciate this and you're emotions were beautiful I feel the same way about the black community altouqh I'm only 16 it's just hard because you look up and realize what's happening to our people.

  • i loved ur vid, just keep it going...all gurlsd cry. U R BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • I feel u all the way for real

  • wow toya my name is anesta and i really understand where ur coming from im get my black beauty back and it is so hard to do that in this world i cry almost every mrning when it comes to my hair ill be putting a video up soon maybe my sistas out there where join some more keep posting see u soon....love peace

  • I really want to go natural too for good becuz my hair is not growing is very broken off everywhere...When i told my mom that I was goin natural she told me that i have a fat face n its onli for skinny women...I understand how you felt!!! But you really inspired me!! Im getn it done no matter what

  • @IwReCkSiNgInG Aww go for it! I don't believe that at all. Once your hair grows out it will be thicker and bigger than any relaxer can make it. GO 'head Girl! xoxo

  • I love this video its soooo real so many ppl are goining through this including myself and its going to help alot of ppl. Good luck on your journey..

  • It's true i find more of our black pll are negative about it than any other race. But is more of what we have to go through with having it thats holding us back. We got to start forgetting what the rest of the world think of us and do what we do. Thats why i chose to go natural and i've been goiing strong for 4 months :)

  • i love this video soo much, you mention everything that i also had in mind. i decided i want to finally go natural and i know for a fact its going to be a big change, not only in appearance but i know some people is going to act different towards me because im not going to be rocking a perm or wigs/weaves anymore. smh but its ok life goes on right?. btw can you plz check out my channel, i can use some new view and a new friend, thanks in advance =)

  • WOW Ms lady you have just gotten even more POWERFUL crying getting all the crazyness. That's been told to us as we were growing up about our hair let it out be beautiful like GOD mad us you go girl in martin lawerance voice

  • Assess!!!! Just know that you have to be yourself and do what feels right to you no matter what anyone say. It is not always easy to make changes but it's necessary and well worth it at the end of the day

    God Bless!!!

  • My name is teetee and im 15 years old i juz did the bc yesterday april 20 ... Ive wantd to cut my hair for the longst and i finally got the courage to do so ... my mom doesnt like my hair at all , neither does my grandma , aunties or any other close family member ... i feel your pain ... i try not let it bother me ... but when the i go to school i expect the same reactions my family gave ... i havnt found support on this journey yet ... i thank natural is beautiful ... nappy hair dnt care ...

  • I totally understand your pain. Its a mentality that has to be broken and I believe that our generation and the next will make that change that all textures are beautiful.

  • I've had hair problems my whole life. I have very curly hair, and it's always been poofy, and people would make fun of my hair. I cried a lot about my hair. I think most people feel insecure about something, and when the important people in your life won't accept how you are naturally it will make anyone emotional. I think it's great you went natural, and if your boyfriend doesn't like how you hair is he isn't the right guy for you.

  • Thank You for bearing your soul. My natural hair journey started with me being such a timid person!! At first I was embarrassed to wear my TWA. smh! But as the time passed I got soooo much courage and strength from wearing my hair natural! Things will get better!!. I am so proud of you for taking a stand. Dont feel alone! Black women have been oppressed through our hair. It empowers us to reject those oppressive standards of beauty and just be free! WE DESERVE TO LOVE OURSELVES JUST AS WE ARE

  • ur beautiful

  • How courageous and generous of you to post this video and share your feelings. More power to you, beautiful one!

  • I feel u so much, Im proud that u made this video! Its soo true and sad. Every race accepts their hair and black ppl dont!!! thats shameful becuz God doesnt make mistakes. Im proud that ur going natural, ur doing the right thing. If "ur friends" cant accept that ur going natural, then they're not ur friends hun. I've been natural over a year and im loving it. Its challengin at times but overall im loving the hair that God gave me. Stay strong girl! ur so beautiful.

  • awwww this is so beautiful, *air hug* lol you're gorgeous :)

  • I am so glad you posted this video..I have been natural for a year and four months and I recently thought about getting a relaxer again because I was getting discouraged with my rate of growth, or for the lack of compliments or rather the number of negative looks or comments from people, but you video has really touched me and encouraged me to stay positive. We are such a beautiful people and we have to learn to embrace what God made. Stay Uplifted and continue to share your journey with us.

  • Your inspiring :)

  • I suscribed after watching this

Well actually this is the first video i watched and you showed me how real you are, and thats the kind of person i want to watch on youtube

I cant exactly say i know what you feel, but i can say i know how it feel for your loved ones to react like that

And if people are ashamed you shouldnt be, go for it and i bet a lot of people with follow

I personally like black girls with their hair natural

It makes you guys unique and seriously you guys dont have to worry

  • i went natural back in highschool. I wanted it because i hated it relaxed. I preferred my curls...

then last year... i got a relaxer... and i have been miserable...

why did i do it? I felt like my curly hair was hindering me from getting a job.

anyways, today i said FUCK IT! and i shaved my head. I'm starting over baby, and i'm never going back to that relaxed crap.

  • @Phillschic WOOOOOOO! Go head with yo' bad self!! I'm with you all the way!!!!

  • You are sooooooooooooo beautiful and I love how open you are. You practically vented out what so many people wish they could <3 and I absolutely LOVE that.... Well I am In High school and I'm going natural and to be truthful I absolutely love it I mean its a burden off my shoulder and it gives me a unique identity. I find that Natural hair in all shapes and ethnics are BEAUTIFUL. I admire every kind. So I hope you are at least happier now =) ...And that you have a wonderful day ;)

  • This is soooooo awesome....thank you, thank you, thank you...Alot of "us" need this...

  • did you ever experience any breakage from without an permy

  • I totally feel you on this video. My husband is white and he is the one who encouraged me to go natural and my family was totally against. They were "why did you cut your hair off" ya-da ya-da....I just want you to know that you are not the only one that feels this way. You (we) are beautiful and I think we are wonderful the way God made us. Love ya Sis!!

  • I really appreciate you leaving your video raw and very emotional for us. It shows how WE really feel about our hair. But guess what your hair will not make are break you. If you feel comfortable with yourself any producer that sees you will love you. I will be praying for you. Be Blessed. Continue to do you and be you. Natural.

  • wen I was little I wanted to straighten and put extensions in no thanks to the entertainment industry and Eurocentric society my mates made me feel less beautiful than the other girls by sayin that I would look pretty if i made my hair straight and I believed them forgetting that they have been brainwashed into thinkin that as well as i had. Thank God for my mum who has and still reminds me of my natural beauty and how God doesn't make mistakes I have been brought up with my natural hair

  • hello toyaboo2, do it, I'm sure it will only enhance your beauty. the inner will shine outwardly. I hope this catches on and moves south and into the fashion and plastic industry of ads and theater. we want to see natural beauty. gone is the barbie days.I salute you and all who join you...

  • I went through the same thing when I decided to get locs. My father couldn't stand 'em and I had them for 6 years. I cut them off for other reasons, but I've been natural since 2001 and I wouldn't change it for the world. I'm subbing to your channel, cause I'd like to see how your journey progresses. Stay strong and God Bless.

  • Thank you God that Toyaboo2 is natural. Natural hair is Powerful!!!!!!!! The world needs to see black women loving themself and there hair. May God bless you and keep you and be gracious to you and give you peace. LOL :-)

  • I understand you so much, im crying watching your video.. I let my natural hair grow april 2010 and i know exactly how u feel. Im still in a battle with my friends and family that are not used to this big curly hair. But i just love it. I learned how to love myself, and its so comfortable not being scared if it gets wet or going to the beauty salon, or gettin the relaxer ( which i totally hated). Im so glad u made the decision, u wont regret it. Ull be happy and free :)

  • Beautiful video...

  • I am so proud of you!! You are my HERO!!!! Thank you for posting!

  • I feel you on this one. 100% We both can't articulate it well either lol but all those comments from people about how YOU "should" look...it's not carved in stone anywhere. Don't pretend to be anyone else unless it's in one your shows lol I know this is an old video so I'm hoping you've found that confidence ;)

  • when i first decided to go natural i didnt ask anybodys permission. it was about 6 years ago. one day i decided thats what i wanted to do and i did it. one day my boyfriend asked why i hadnt had a relaxer in months and i told him i was going natural he flipped out. i asked if he was in love with me or my hair. he didn't agree but when i finally cut off my relaxed hair he loved it. back then i didn't know about you tube and i did it anyway. you have so much support. never be afraid .

  • this was a really great video! When you think about it, you really can't be mad at the people who don't accept natural hair in your case (your mom and bf at the time), because this is how society trained us to view ethnic hair. If it isn't straight, it isn't right. I'm just glad that you made the decision for yourself and you didn't let your loved ones views deter you from doing what was best for you! You go girl!
