  • GV forgets to mention that they use landlines. I got overages from Sprint, but they corrected the issue for me. I have not had that problem with Skype because the call are over the interwebs if I'm not mistaken.

  • I have a IPhone that i use for wifi purpose only. Since i can aford any cellular service. i set up google voice on the I phone but i still can not make or received free phone calls. Is because i don't have cellular service? I was able to download free text with voice from Pranger and it work fine. However i prefer using google voice. what aim i doing wrong. I follow all the steps. help

  • @thebootielover Looks like you need a cell plan to make calls with GV. They are routed through GV landline numbers which counted against my minutes with Sprint (EVO) and I had overages, but Sprint took care of them for me.

Skype is what I have on my wife's Iphone and calls don't count against her plans minutes. I was shocked when I got my bill from Sprint because I never go over, but i was constantly testing GV with my family. Valuable lesson learned the hard way. Hope this helps

  • i love google voice. thast the only number i give out to people. if youre infront of the computer you can text to other people from online. not to mention the facts that it can save u money if ur on prepay like i am and u can block people u dont want to talk anymore.

  • anyone can tell me what program the use to make this video???

  • Hey here is my review on Google Voice.

    webupon(DOT)com/search-engines/google-voice-review/

  • AGHHH these videos are annoying as fuck. They don't tell you how to use it. I have a google number but my cell phone still makes calls using my regular cell number. How do I get it to use the google number?

  • @Kulith333 rofl, nvm I figured it out. Have to dial my GV number, then press 2, then dial the number I want to call, then press #....

  • does anybody have any idea how to get an invite besides wait? I have been waiting since August!!!!

I have also sent mulitpule requests after months of not getting it!!! Anybody else having this problem?

  • I use it now on a dumb phone. You don't get all the features but it still delivers plenty of value.

  • Would like to get an invite :) I also have some google wave invitations left. Thanks

  • haha i got a google voice and a google wave, there both great but it stinks you can only get it through invite.

  • @brians123987 So can you give me an invite?I can't wait to try google voice.Thank u very much

  • hey i know this is kinda a dumb question but, if i get a Google number will my friends still be able to call me via my old number? it would greatly appreciated if someone could answer this

oh yes and i use Google voicemail and i love it, GOOGLE WILL RULE THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @shady4tv Yes

  • @shady4tv no kidding....it allready bought youtube...well i think it did at least

  • free phone calls! soon the internet will be transferred on radio waves, making that free. It should be free anyways, run those assholes out of business

  • Leave a message at (615) 746-7522.

  • Google and Skype should get together, especially for international calls. Give those telephone giants a run for their money. Just as long as Google doesn't buy out Skype. I like the ideas of companies working together to give better services, but not when one company controls everything, such as Google is in the process of doing. Hopefully, the other companies get the picture and just become more competitive.

  • @RudyOD Actually, i find it very pleasent to have one company control everything, as long as they aren't out for your money. As long as google continues to provide fantastic free services, I will continue to use them. PS I have a Droid.

  • @loliong No, i love Google but one co. owning everything is bad news.

  • @ loliong

Google isn't directly after your money, Google is after your information- which is far more valuable.

The reason why it's bad to have one company controlling everything and having too much power is corruption. I love Google and I love the things they do, but how much do you suppose Google knows about you?

Maybe Google will change management in the future and they'll start blackmailing you with the e-mails you've sent, the pictures you've received, the porn you've downloaded... etc.

  • @Baldurpet

If you say that, Google could be Skynet!!!

  • i hope google buys skype out. More free for us then :) and skype has VoIP competitors so it's not like google will sit on there buts. And google is always improving their many products

  • actually google has already acquired a VoIP service. Gizmo5. Google shall rule the world!

  • @RudyOD Google bought out Gizmo5 last year which is a Voip over cell phone co. They should integrate and be ready this year. Can't wait.

  • I found this disappointing as well, but considering the amount of red tape Google is most likely experiencing with offering this service in the US it's not surprising they are first testing it there. Keep in mind too that this service is pissing off the cell phone giants big time and might even bring about some law suits, so the fewer the countries it's in the fewer pissed off ceo's and fewer possible lawsuits.

  • Comment removed

  • does google voice charge for calling within the US? or does it charge at all?

  • Does this use data or regular calling?

  • Regular calling no TCP/IP

  • I want to move to USA :)

  • is it in US only or other country can use

  • I think its in US only and they charge for long distance. does anyone know how to get an invite?

  • get lucky. I just got one today from a friend. or buy one on ebay

  • ok i got my invite but im confused why would u wanna call from ur google number when it looks like a regular number?? and can u use any zip code u like for phone # availibility??

  • ok i thnk i got it now

  • I don't know exactly which zip codes are available but. I live in a city of about 500,000 and I received a GV# with my local area code.

  • is there a way to see missed calls on the blackberry app?

  • but blackberry suck???

  • although apple has banned this app on the appstore i managed to get it on my iphone 3g. If you have a jailbroken iphone then you can download it on cydia.

  • yea true that! and it works for the iPod Touch why use money on the iPhone when you can just buy an iPod Touch and jailbreak it and then call people through google voice mobile?

  • Really - You can do this on an IPod Touch? Can you receive a call as well?

  • yea listen to edmundogutierrez79 he's right...o had to jailbreak my iPod Touch to get this app...totally worth it!

  • Haven't you following the news lately. There is an web app though for the iPhone, not sure of iPod.

  • thats rightttt

    this is so awesome

  • how do you get invite? i'm curious to try this out on my G1

  • it works awesome on a G1!!!

I'm using it on the myTouch3G aka "G2/Magic" and its just amazing!!!!

sucks for the iphone users!!! another reason why at&t is soooo lame!!!! because the app is available for the ipod touch and not the iphone??? makes no sense!

    good luck

  • I GOT AN INVITE! HELL YEAH!

  • I love this service.

I love the call blocking, spam blocking (for the near-future when telemarketers will have access to cell phone numbers), and being able to customize voicemail per phone number.

  • They have had access to those for years in most countries.

  • Well, soon, cell phones will be listed in telephone directories and available to the public.

  • 4 years :)

  • i know!

  • Got my invite tonight. ALready love the usefulness, even though i had to argue with my gf thats its nothing to be worried about. But still very useful

  • this is cool because your cell phone, home phone, and work phone can all be on the same number

  • type&hearts

  • The question I want Google to answer is, how does the work with cell phone plans that don't use plan minutes for call from one phone on the same service provider as the other.

What number do I have my other android friends add to their T-Mobile 'Fav Five'?

  • You should be able to put your Google number in your Fave 5 and call everyone for free. Just a guess

  • Calling still wastes minutes because it does not work like voip should. What is the damn point of using this? It's just adds an extra step to call someone.

  • what's that..

  • My 5 cents worth:

The remembering a new G-number is not cutting edge / ideal to me... I have to many things to remember as it is.

Let alone learning a new number to give everyone in your phonebook, how crazy the big "G" couldn't think of a better way to voice dial any gmail address

What good is G-mail dialer? Im sure plenty more then this way...

P.S. I like or love my cell number and most of my clients think it's rather easy to dial it as well.

I'm betting Yahoo, speak will be a lot better

  • The Google Dialer is for Google Voice clients. Google Voice can forward calls to any phone which you choose, or all of them at once . Ideal if you do not like giving your home, work, and cell number, or change phone numbers often (like me since I use prepaid). You can also see all your texts and voice messages online which probably no cell phone provider is doing.

  • You're an idiot. Your "clients" obviously have only one phone number for you, which means this application isn't designed with you in mind. Your existing number and antiquated technology still work, you can use them if you prefer. Nobody's forcing you to use Voice.

    BTW- your English really sucks.

  • THIS IS AWESOME! I got mine today finally, and am customizing and trying it out now. I love that now I can create custom messages and have different access set for calls. People that owe me money can get directly through to me at all times, but people I owe money to get the voicemail! YES!!!

  • haha! I use google religiously! I love checking gmail, and then having links to web albums, google docs and much more inside gmail is awesome! And google voice seems cool. I sent a few text messages, called a friend, recorded a phone call and more. Been using Google Voice for a few minutes (I JUST created my account) and it is already seeming really cool and awesome!

  • do you know how to send someone a text message? without the computer, or mobile app? is there a way that you know of?

  • Even I don't quite get this and I am a Google geek like no other. Look at the Google OS, everyone laughed at the apps originally (Gmail, Docs, Reader, Calendar). Now they are using the Google Grid to go head to head with Microsoft as a Web OS.

Hence, I am going to look into how this can benefit me before I write it off out of ignorance.

  • and "all my phones"?

I have one phone. My mobile. My phone communication is unified already.

  • ok - admittedly Google Voice is not for everyone. I think the way Google Voice proposes to triage your calls is genius. There definitely are a lot of people in the world who want to make themselves available but need space at the same time. I think Google Voice proposes to be an important tool to help define how available/responsive you can be at any given time - just my 2 cents.

  • I'm clearly missing something fundamental here but if I use this on my (lovely) G1, my calls and messages come from my "google" number and not my mobile number, right?

The number I have had for eleven years which everyone I know has and can remember off the top of their heads.

How is this a GOOD thing?

  • Well then its obviously not for you. Can you not see how this would be good for someone who has a home phone, a mobile, a work phone and a fax, etcetera? And the lower call costs.

  • G1 powns, once again

  • so is that meaning that we don't need cell phone service provider after all?

  • haha, google-skype for mobile ;)

  • Interesting times a coming. Free Communication for all.

  • oh yeah - this is a game changer ;-)

  • iPhone app, please.

  • mobile voice stars google

  • YES!

Time to consolidate down to using JUST the data networks and internet to save on phone calls and text messages. Next step would be to completely break away from traditional text message framework/architecture so you cannot be charged 10 cents for a 20 byte message!

  • Sounds great. iPhone App please - I'll consider switching from Skype if it's available.

  • google is taking over the world o_0

  • they will call it google earth

  • Dude is kinda baller. He's gonna catch lunch with a chick...in France.

  • not work on Nokia 5800

  • Now you guys just have to get it out for Windows Mobile and iPhone.

  • when would it, finally be available in Europe ????

  • Works well on android. I have an AT&T Tilt with a version of android running on it, as developed by the guys at XDA-Developers. This app is available in the Market, just search for "Google Voice" and you will find it.

  • Skype charges $35 a year, Google voice is free. Skype mobile app sucks for calling international, Google voice mobile much better and less rates.Working 100% on my G1 right now, sent SMS, called numbers, and even have personalized voice message for some people :-D

  • It doesn't work on my G1

  • Do u have a Google Voice account?

Remember, it is not out yet. You can only get it by invitation.

  • I got mine :)

I even made a video on it... check it if you want...

No this isn't a stupid spam thing lol...

    Stupid spam...

  • Works just fine on mine lol.

  • awesome

  • this is amazing.. have been using it for months.. now if i could only get the ap for iphone too.

  • From the App store go get GV Mobile. It's not the "official" GV application but it works great.

  • only for android?

  • Blackberry too.

  • Pay for international calls?

    I'll pass.

  • Finally an app for my BlackBerry. Now I don't have to login to my GV account via the web with the web browser.

  • You can CALL ANYONE FOR FREE Throughout SKYPE VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) same thing....

  • Try doing that on a phone.

  • i dont get the point?

  • I put in for a google voice invite in april of 08, got my invite last week. I love google voice! The transcription has yet to transcribe any voicemail perfectly. The transcriptions are usually pretty funny.

  • aww, lucky, i havent gotten my invite yet!

  • lucky! i cant wait for mine!

  • please post that link in the video description...

  • Google keeps creating a lot of great new applications and features. You rule!!
