Iyo timed his HP perfectly to counter the next FB which Daigo set a pattern for by dashing > FB dashing > FB > etc. Notice that Daigo infact missed the HPDP right before he hit Iyo with the DPxxSU. He set the pattern and thought that Iyo would fall for it sooner and was willing to take that risk of whiffing a DP due to the amount of health that he had.
@duckie258 The Shoryuken motion can be input as Forward > Down > Down Forward > Forward +punches. Notice the last 3 motions(d, df, f=QCF) are the same as the first three motions of your super (QCF). When you do a shoryuken motion, you've already buffered half of your super, so if you input it again right after, the super will come out automatically. It acts as a basic option select against Dhalsim while "fishing" for limbs.

wow watching high level dhalsim play from 1 and a half years ago is really cool. it's much more active, much riskier. lots more jumps, more moving forward, more attempted antiairs, etc. very different style. seeing a game's strategies evolve over time is pretty interesting.
first off i'd just like say that was a good dhalsim and secondly daigo umehara! the man is champ, plays like a champ he switches his game up at the last round get's all up in dhalsims face and he aint got no answer. That's the hallmark of a champ in any field they are able to bring it on in various ways when the situations dictates it and that takes more than just plain skill u need nerves of steel and u need true belief that wat u're doing is right for the occasion.

Tekken isnt about having characters being balanced. the game only seems that way because everyone is broken in some way shape or form. The inconsistency of Tekken's System doesnt really help it either. mechanics such as throws outright beating striking moves or moves and juggles missing completely sometimes hinders the game.
At least SF has core mechanics that characters individually cant take advantage of.

@IznoLTB currently rufus and akuma are of higher tier ranking. abel, chunli, boxer, honda are the same tier rank as ryu. why is daigo STILL a dominant character. why doesn't he use akuma instead of ryu if you think daigo plays by the tier list? why does j.wong (who uses rufus) lose to daigos ryu (which is of lower tier ranking?)
@lupinyonsei Daigo is one of the people how make tier lists what they are. He alone can make ryu go up quite a few ranks. when you are at that level why the heck would you even need to look at a tier list when they base it on your performance
@alexanderegrt Yes, that's what was happening. Daigo was doing the input but it would only come out if the shoryuken landed. It basically stops Sim from using hitting Ryu with any of his limbs.
it's funny because I used to think that match was godlike but now 1 year later I can pinpoint all of their respectives mistakes, and now Daigo has completed changed in the way he handles the Sim matchup, he no longer random DP to catch Sim's limbs, much cleaner now
I just realised Daigo didn't have this super bar fully charged at 4:24 and 4:25. I'm guessing if the shoryu lands, it woulda give him enough to charge up the bar.
PS: Just look at how fast the shinku followed the shoryu. Nobody in the world has such amazing reaction times unless it's an option select.
Yes, Daigo definitely doesn't fit the definition of spammers. Spammers are people who try to get AWAY from the opponent just to fire their projectiles.
Yup it's not luck. I think, in my humble opinion, it's called option-select. Basically, Daigo inputs a light shoryu and then a shinku hadoken immediately after. Two things can happen after this combination. One, if the shoryu didn't land, then the shinku won't be executed and Daigo will just do a light shoryu. Two, if the shoryu lands, then the shinku will immediately follow.
This explains the numerous 'random' shoryus that Daigo's been throwing out at 4:24 and 4:25 and 4:46.
ryu isnt spamming. these are pros and the hadoken is a must to counter dhalsims reach.
the question i have, is in round 4, daigo ex cancels his shroyuken which i am under the impression needs 2 super bars, but he still does his super hadoken. is this like a loop pole?

wow watching high level dhalsim play from 1 and a half years ago is really cool. it's much more active, much riskier. lots more jumps, more moving forward, more attempted antiairs, etc. very different style. seeing a game's strategies evolve over time is pretty interesting.

first off i'd just like say that was a good dhalsim and secondly daigo umehara! the man is champ, plays like a champ he switches his game up at the last round get's all up in dhalsims face and he aint got no answer. That's the hallmark of a champ in any field they are able to bring it on in various ways when the situations dictates it and that takes more than just plain skill u need nerves of steel and u need true belief that wat u're doing is right for the occasion.

This is footies and spacing at its best. I don't get how you don't like seeing a good Dhalism player. If your getting beat down by a Dhalism who teleports every time you get close, your a terrible player. All character of some sort of Option select to deal with it, as well as being easy to punish. Obviously, if your the type of person who prefers mindless fighters, go play Brawl, it seems like its your cup of tea. Leave this whole mindgame business to fighter fans.

Im not on of those guys that hate just because i lose or something. I dont like the fact that in this fighting game they would even create a character like him... not because he is hard to use i kno ita takes great skill to use him its just the fact that they said hey lets make a character that basically keeps u away the whole match.... why??

Tekken isnt about having characters being balanced. the game only seems that way because everyone is broken in some way shape or form. The inconsistency of Tekken's System doesnt really help it either. mechanics such as throws outright beating striking moves or moves and juggles missing completely sometimes hinders the game.
At least SF has core mechanics that characters individually cant take advantage of.

@IznoLTB currently rufus and akuma are of higher tier ranking. abel, chunli, boxer, honda are the same tier rank as ryu. why is daigo STILL a dominant character. why doesn't he use akuma instead of ryu if you think daigo plays by the tier list? why does j.wong (who uses rufus) lose to daigos ryu (which is of lower tier ranking?)

@alexanderegrt Yes, that's what was happening. Daigo was doing the input but it would only come out if the shoryuken landed. It basically stops Sim from using hitting Ryu with any of his limbs.

it's funny because I used to think that match was godlike but now 1 year later I can pinpoint all of their respectives mistakes, and now Daigo has completed changed in the way he handles the Sim matchup, he no longer random DP to catch Sim's limbs, much cleaner now

I just realised Daigo didn't have this super bar fully charged at 4:24 and 4:25. I'm guessing if the shoryu lands, it woulda give him enough to charge up the bar.
PS: Just look at how fast the shinku followed the shoryu. Nobody in the world has such amazing reaction times unless it's an option select.

Yup it's not luck. I think, in my humble opinion, it's called option-select. Basically, Daigo inputs a light shoryu and then a shinku hadoken immediately after. Two things can happen after this combination. One, if the shoryu didn't land, then the shinku won't be executed and Daigo will just do a light shoryu. Two, if the shoryu lands, then the shinku will immediately follow.
This explains the numerous 'random' shoryus that Daigo's been throwing out at 4:24 and 4:25 and 4:46.

the question i have, is in round 4, daigo ex cancels his shroyuken which i am under the impression needs 2 super bars, but he still does his super hadoken. is this like a loop pole?
