There were some really great movies made in the early to middle 70s, Lady Sings the Blues, Cooley High, Sparkle, just to name a few. Its great looking back at these flicks.
Great film and Killer soundtrack! Get a little teary at the happy ending. Can't believe this was the same writer that wrote The Wiz and directed A Time to Kill and awful Batman and Robin!
I just watched this movie for the first time last week. I remember when it came out in the 70s but never sat down long enough to watch the whole movie. Wow, this was a very good movie. Curtis Mayfield is just pure genius. Also, if they would've killed sticks off at end of the movie, I would've started my own mini riot. A good ending for a change.
I saw this movie at the Baldwin Hills Theater in Baldwin Hills California... because i worked there in the box office... I watched this every break ......lol...this song was beautiful.....I waited and waited for the soundtrack,, which never came......
I have always loved the look of pride Stix gives her @2:43. It's says wow, she's grown into a beautiful woman...A classic movie that will be around forever.
Irene Cara did her thing. Stix Warren breaks up the stereo ype that all pretty boys are punks, that's why he's MY MAN throught this whole movie! Hold it down Stix!!!
I was a teenager when this movie came out in the 70s.....life was so idyllic and sweet in so many ways.....I thank God for allowing me to live and know the people in that period of time......television was limited compared to today's selection but the quality of shows then were unsurpassed compared to the stuff that is out there today! GO on Sister and the Sisters!
OMG BEYONCE LOOKS JUST LIKE SPARKLE.
