Stevens was the man that started the controversy over the hip check....they weren't blindside hits; or from out of position...they were him being the man!

Some of these hits were pretty dirty dude. You say #2 was the cleanest on the list???? He undeniably destroyed him yes, but Kariya did not have possession of the puck, and was blindsided with a headshot. That hit was greasy. We all love seeing hits like that, but don't deny that some of these weren't dirty. Even the hit to Lindros was a headshot.....

Scott Stevens was an amazing hitter. He didn't use elbows, it just looks like that but if you really know how to check, (or just watch the video closely) you can tell that he's hitting them with the shoulder and pushing of with his elbow.
