i cant imagine there are even that many professional solo pianists out there at this level of musicality. thanks for all of your uploads. they are an inspiration for us mortals.
What I love about your playing is that every single note sounds 100% intentional - like it just supposed to be that way! I have learned a lot from watching your vids and it has made me a better player. Keep them coming, please!
I would love to see your take one something like Blue Bossa or Canteloupe Island.
My, my, my> This is, of course, self-evident; what a talent; what is not so self-evident about this interesting player is his hand size. I, having recently discovered his left hand pinky finger above the knucle is 3/16 longer. Most of us have been cheated. Thank you for sharing this.
Excellent! I really love when you play the walking bass line; it's not very common for the pianists, but when I play alone, I do it all the time (if I'm not striding). That's more common in B3s organ trios (guitar, and drums, without bass).
Another very different version from your last Tom. I really like the contrast between your very calm and measured LH chords/bass lines and the intensity of your right hand with those filled octave lines and wide dynamic range. That laid back rhythmic feel reminds me of Errol Garner.
Thanks Doug. Errol Garner had an incredible swing, and nobody did the 'fist full of chords' thing better than he did. He is the first person I ever heard that did that. I also relied on the Lennie Tristano version of this tune. As you know, he was a legend to other musicians, but never quite made it with the public. His version is brilliant. Thanks again
Fantastic again! I don't suppose you could tell me what chords you're playing at 0:23 - 0:25, I love the sound of them and would love to build them myself!
Terrific rendition of a great tune. The beginning is hypnotic and enticing, leading to the the rest of the performance which is captivating. I love your variance in dynamics and harmonic/melodic motifs. Yet another gem from you.
I love your playing, do you play with singer's and if so do you enjoy it ???

Actually, my hands and fingers are pretty limber, so I can stretch the intervals. That's the only difference.

I don't dare to add my comment to all those "learned" ones (by pianists). Therefore only: I LOVE it. Wolf

Wonderful performance. Great light touch and dynamics contrast.
I hadn't ever heard a style like the one you play around 3:10. I'm looking forward to messing around with it tonight.

That's prowling, Tom! Can imagine Baryshnikov, porkpie hat in homage to Astaire, doing a stealthy
Gotham stroll - following your lead. Cheers,~Terry

From the bottom up:
L hand: F G#
R hand: B D E G
Come down chromatically and end on a Dbmajor7 chord.
I hope that makes sense.
