You got that right. Dave lost most of his edge when he left NBC and got really big bucks. But most artists lose their creative edge when they finally make it.
It should be possible to get a better soundtrack off this tape by moving the audio head around while it plays...

That five year retrospective of Chris Elliot's work at NBC really did perk up Dave's little show. It was good of Chris to slum it every now and then.
