  • Congrats! This must be the only ARTI-type biogas digester in an urban environment in Europe.

Well done, it does seem to work greatly!

  • What I mean is, since the storage barrel is filled with 500 liters of water and the gas container is only 100 liters or so of gas, 60% of which is methane and 40% of which is CO2, floating on the 500 liters of water, and it is open to the air on the sides, a flashback, if we could induce it, would likely just eject water; the system is so low pressure and the tanks are plastic so it poses very very little risk. Anyway, they have over 12,000 of these operating in India without incident .

  • Yeah, we've tried to get the danged thing to flashback, thinking it would make a great episode for a reality TV comedy spot (I imagine what it would do, since it is an open barrel is blow a whole lot of horse manure laden water into the air!) but have been unsuccessful. Never heard of a flashback in the India experience either for that matter. In our case, since I have a flashback arrestor (a screen in a valve) I think it would be almost impossible, but without the design makes it difficult.

  • er... SO glad this didn't flash back into the storage barrel on you!!

    ;)
