  • 4 of the greatest voices in country music, love them together and as solo artist, wish they were all still hear alive and well. I hope the survivors keep going for many more years.

  • I absolutely love the 'highwaymen'..too bad two of them have left us! I love them as individual singers and songwriters, also.

  • WTF..... Just discovered this gem. Instantly added it to my favs Not gonna pretend that I didn`t know Kris But i always thought he was like a B-actor and singing -wise kind of Dolly`s side kick... But this song kicks ass.

  • a wonderful kris kristofferson song, i hear it live at

    munich 1992

  • Yeah-Kris wrote a lot of songs that other people sang, before he was recognized as a singer in his own right...

  • I keep coming back to this video. Four Legends. Sell out venues alone. wasn t about the money, that s for sure. But respect and friendships. No Pyro, no strobe lights, no back up dancers, no back up vocals, just the four of them and the band. SELL OUT!!! Why? Pure talent, devotion and love for real music, each other and their fans. Never heard of either one spitting on someone that wanted an autograph. Two are gone, two remain. But all four remain respected and loved.

  • Einfach nur geil!!!!

  • Well, I can´t complain since I have access to such beauty, but when I see the Justin Biebers of the world getting 500.000.000+ views (!) on a single video I start crying.

We have to keep their legacy alive! Or otherwise country music is about to die!

  • like george jones said "who's going to fill their shoes?

what a great group of guys. love their muisc.

  • any song by Kris K will get you through any nigt.Try Bobby Mcgee

  • I need someone to help me make it through the night . (

  • Makes me want to ride a Harley down a long stretch of highway for some reason...

  • Makes me miss my friend Tammy in Murrfreesboro.

  • How can anyone dislike this? Where the hell can we find masters like those guys theese days? Kris, Willie, Merle Haggard, David Allan Coe, George Jones, Tompall Glaser,Jerry Lee Lewis and a few others are still around, but for how long? When they are gone, it will be the end of the genuine outlaw era. Country of today is mostly a bunch of clowns in hats and boots, trying hard to copy the real deal like the masters I´ve named above....

  • Sang this (off key of course ) to my girl - when she stopped laughing we went to bed - she is now my wife. Oh you Highwaymen have a lot to answer for ! Fabulous rendition of Kristofferson's original

  • Good friends, Lambs rum and the Highwaymen......PRICELESS.

    What I call mood music!!!!!!

  • Sammi Smith , made this a hit way back when !!! Think , Kris might have wrote it ??? but Sammy made it a hit ... No matter , still a great one !!!! Wonderful to see the Boys playiing & singing it !!!! ~~ It doesn't get any better !!! Peace to all!!!

  • @girllovesmusic you can't find at Amazon.com?

  • Comment removed

  • @girllovesmusic Whoa there - back off girlloves music- was just asking - how do I know where you live or your address concerns. Sooooooooooo sorry for the suggestion - so hunt and peck away - you are the one who said you could not find. I was not being snide as you put it so rudely - I was only trying to help. Chill out and walk over Eastern Europe then for the hunt - I was only trying to help so back off.

  • ok, thats crap...

  • @polmaccaba you dont like it? then dont listen to it, how bout that

  • Wow...those voices together are just wonderful ! Rest in Peace, Johnny and Waylon

  • just got goose bumps. Can't stop listening to this song. Maybe one of the best performances by these legends. No country singers today can come close to the talent to this type of performance.

  • love it..

  • I have commented before. When you have 4 of the greastest talents that have ever lived on the same stage. Damn, you are blessed. Egos be damned. These men respected each other and the music. Not to mention the love factor. Kris wrote this song and Sammie Smith recorded it. Pushed her to the top. Wasn' t this version. That' s what is so great about a great song. It can be presented in many ways and remain the great song that was written.

  • I heard Waylon sing this same version in concert back around 95. Loved it ever since.

  • A great version. Stomping beat and the other highwaymen are just brilliant. Thanks for the posting Slasheri. See you

  • @ tupregunta...I think it was just a "guy thing".... just a few seconds later Johnny was smiling. :)

  • Is Cash pissed at Kris? Watch them half way through.

  • @tupregunta

I think it was just a "guy thing".... just a few seconds later, Johnny was smiling at Kris.

  • This is the best version of this song with Kris singing it than I've heard before. The whole group makes it what it is. PERFECT!!!!

  • Pick your poison. This is mine (-:

  • I'm with you on this one! Love his music!

  • einfach nur toll

  • What did Kris pick up and throw?

  • these guys are what the USA stand for!!

  • Just magical, his voice is beautiful along with the 3 athers. :)

This song reminds me of my grandfather......

    Great song highway men :')

  • Kris!!!

  • Kris kicks ass...Korean War vet, Vanderbilt grad and a Rhodes Scholar

  • Ehem...I have to correct you on that,he was a vietnam vet.Johnny was in the airforce stationed in germany during the korean war.:)

  • My bad....wikied him and it seems he didn't serve in either war but was stationed in Germany. He went to Oxford with my film professor at USC and we met each other at Dr. Dunlap's lake house but we all had a bit of a buzz on so my recollection may be a bit hazy. Nevertheless, a great guy and brilliant songwriter.

  • Well its pretty cool that you got to meet such a brilliant guy,so your fazzy memory will always be better then what said.

  • @global2012

Kris also was stationed in Germany in the early 1960s, and he volunteered for Vietnam but they didn't let him go... luckily...

  • take my back to yesterday when music was music ...........:)

  • i agree i would have given anything to be around when this music was coming out

  • Who is the guitar player who starts out -- he has a red strap and a blue t-shirt -- not one of the Highway Men, but in the band.

  • @DonnaWerhan

    Reggie Young do you mean?:)

He played for Waylon in his last years too, as you can see at the "Never Say Die"-concert.

  • Thank you for telling me his name -- I checked the Internet and found out your right. A great guitar player and on a lot of YouTube videos.

  • @DonnaWerhan

    No problem!

    Yeah, he's great.

  • This man can't be beat

  • absolutely love this song by these guys

  • Why did you leave us Waylon?

  • @katiejdr567 so waylon and johnny are dead right!? =(

    RIP

  • The Australian DVD release (2005) of this concert is of much better quality than the one by MC (2007).

Keep it in mind if you want to buy it...

  • Look away from the video and just listen to the music. Listen to the thumping base line on this song. Really good.

  • No, I will never look away when Kris is on the stage... ;-)) But I agree, sound and lyrics are really great...

  • What's the name of the DVD. I'll look for it?

  • @TomM60

The Highwaymen - life at Nassau Coliseum - check the vid of it in my channel, there is a link to the DVDs- and make sure to buy that version, because it's of much better quality than the DVD with the brown cover...

  • @TomM60

... I'm sure about that because I bought them both...

  • Kris Kristo-ff-er-s-on= Kristofferson :-))

It really IS a difficult name I guess??

I do love this song... and I love all Kris Kristofferson songs.

  • Class...ma wee baby..!!.....HEHE

  • i had never heard this song fast like that. wow, it is wonderful. their voices are perfect together and the music is fantastic.

  • It only needs one word; excellent

  • I keep coming back to the same things on youtube because you just can t get it anywhere else. I ask you, have you ever seen 4 different musicians so at home and relaxed on a stage together before? This comes from the love of the music, each other and respect.

  • is this track on any cd

  • It's supposed to be on a DVD from an Australian concert. I asked for the name but no reply yet. I want to buy this DVD too.

  • Absolutely brilliant

  • great song.. love it.

  • Your father has a good taste in music! : )

  • He still thinks you are his, I guess...

  • Shame on you. As a father, my son (35) and I share an avid interest in music. I just suppose that your Dad was thinking that you may enjoy this style of the song because it is so far removed from the original recording. And Kris K. wrote it. Could be wrong. But Dads are quite often. Peace

  • What a rhythm! After listening this tune I always in good mood.

Highwaymen is the greatest band that ever has been. They are real Men

  • This is just plain awsome!

  • The legendary highwaymen.....god bless them !

  • I guess you're right, and it's In My Opinion :)

  • Für all die,die noch durch die Nacht müssen.......immer wieder gut!!!

    Grüsse an alle wkwler

    R.Schmidt

  • wow all my fav songs sang by all te best wohoooooooooooo

  • Country at its best. i love these legends.

  • Since Kris is the one that wrote the song I like seeing him sing it. ;)

  • You must be on Drugs

  • Yep. Shitloads of pot. Just like Willie, Waylon, Johnny and Kris. Ive been lucky enough to smoke out with two of those guys. Being on drugs is why I can tell the difference between good music and crappy production. That's also why I make insightful, provocative comments instead of blasting someone with an inane, spiteful comment. In other words, why dont you explain why you disagree or why you do like the production instead of attacking me with a supposed derogatory comment?

  • excuse me sir... weed is not a drug it is a plant.

  • Touche! :)

  • these "hats" are the best damn singers all time. love them. waylon and johnny u are missed

  • I love all these guys. thanks for sharing the video.

    Oak

  • Kristofferson scratched the lyrics to this song on a cocktail napkin sometime prior to 1970. You can view the actual napkin encased at the County Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, TN....amazing song!

  • Kris wrote it and let it go. Sammi Smith had a hell of a hit with it. Kris re claimed it here. And this is the best version of the song. I keep coming back to listen and watch. God bless.
