when I want to seduce a lady, i make her a bowl of Ramen noodles, poor her a glass of Cisco wine and put this song on my eight track and it's OVER, She can't resist
Both lyrically and musically this one was pure innovation - sort of a more upbeat and soulful companion to "Strawberry Fields Forever", ten years later.
ahhh this is my song!! strawbery letter 22 ooo ooo i love it ahh im only 13 and this is the type of music i like i just wish we had this type of music out again not crappy crap of crap we say is music now lol
@kriticalelement...love your explanation. I'm 43, and we were up in arms at work trying to understand this odd title. I was a kid and while my parents did acid, I was eating Frankenberry cereal and never understood the title,though I loved the song. Love the internet....
Letter 24 to black people - call me a racist, but please go back to making this kind of music. Rap had its day, but it's done - please stop. Why can't black people, obviously full of talent, go back to making music that KICKS ASS!!!!!????
@TheRealCritique absolutly r and b and old motown kick ass songs with heart and soul mother goose or any 3 year old can rhyme and their subject matter would probably be more diverse just can see the talent in ripping of popular rhythms and lyricaly degrading anything wholesome ! die rap die!! long live real music!!!!!!!!
@TheRealCritique ......I wouldn't your comment Racist. I'm Black and totally agree!!! African-Americans have helped to define this countries music in a major way. But the last 20 years of the Crap we call music today is shameful. But if the DEMS and the GOP can't get it together either. Future music wont either. Regan took Music out of most schools way back in the day. Now.....how the Hell can a kid learn to play Real Music today!
@TheRealCritique this music has positive energy as most rap is violent sexist and yes has had it's day, originally it was a totally unique genre the most unique to hit since well in a long time :) African Americans have always had a heavy hand in the music we listen to, keep up the GREAT job sistas and brothas
@rainspirit100 As far as I'm concerned, funk and disco could have gone on much longer. They only really got about 15 years. In contrast, rap is still going after 30. It' s not an accident - funk, disco, even reggae were race neutral, anti-establishment, anti-materialist (disco not), and revolutionary, empowering music movements.
That wasn't compatible with rule by the right-wing corporate hitlers we've been subjected to. Rap has been neutered of politics, so it's OK now. God help music and us.
no it is 23. that's the title of the song. they sing 22 in the lyrics because the record is a reply. "a present FROM you/strawberry letter 22"-an exchange of love letters. 22 were received, Strawberry Letter 23 is the reply.
@kriticalelement finally thanks for that ,i tried explaining how awesome that is to my gf ,who is way younger than i am and shes ohhhhhh lol nothing like this music no more.
Thank you Brothers Johnson for this gift to listen to.

@TheRealCritique I love this analysis.
I've been watching unsung lately and got back into oldies.
I didn't realize how much crappier entertainment has become until I rewatched this.
